They STOLE MY FUR COAT
True story
Dropped it for cleaning, along with two others. In the midst of nasty divorce--the one they allowed to be stolen with their complicity was a masculine-ly coat shearling in the traditional manner, the other two a traditional floor length mink, and a quite feminine mid length dark shearling.
No one at BECK FURS seemed to find it odd that my exhusband called nearly daily to ask when the coats would be ready--even though i used a different name than he: offered a substantial deposit in addition to the $23,000 in coats as collateral.
Got a call on a Tuesday coats were in and made plans to pick them up Sat AM. Mr. Ex calling daily already knew they were in and wanted the manly-styled coat for himself (seen him in it, doesn't button over his belly) Who knows perhaps he would've stolen the other two but for the fact that one was bespoke (tailored to me) the other I bought at Beck and fit like a glove. It's hard to re-tailor furs to his girlfriend who will never be able to even strive for the 135, let alone 160 fit a 6'0 135 pound woman, just sayin'
So I went into Beck on Saturday to pick up my coats and guess what? the $3K one was gone to the pleasant gentleman who'd called every day for the past two weeks using various names until he got mine right. No one questioned this? IN A PLACE WHERE THE COATS ARE UNDER LOCK AND KEY???
So I made no fuss, just smiled and ask to speak to the day manager when I went in on Saturday, and showed my receipt and my VISA receipt which indicated two coats and asked huh? edited--showed three coats, but only two were three
She called the so called owner and I was asked to come back on Monday which I did
This so called owner is quite possibly the least customer service oriented person I've met in my life. I was there having lost quite an expensive coat with the complicity of her staff (her?) and even though I made no scene, did not raise my voice and heaven knows did not use profanity, SHE threatened to call the police on me. Yes, you heard it right.
No worries: I merely told her that I likely know most people in this area who can afford a coat like this and the word 'would get around'
Now I see this forum for the people I don't know.
BTW the one coat I did purchase there must weigh twentyfive pounds although it's warm.
I've purchased at least six coats so far and one thing every furrier except Beck has said is that they are supposed to be incredibly warm but no heavier than a wool coat.
The Beck coat is like an albatross around my neck. I don't dare wear it in a store or I'll have to lug something the size of a three year around all day. Whereas if I wear my mink or another of my shearlings, it's like carrying around a light throw. Just sayin'
SO NOT EVER EVER EVER LEAVE YOUR COAT IN THIS GRAVEYARD (sung to the tune of Taylor Swift)
I'm not kidding this was a nightmare, and I have NEVER EVER EVER had the cops called on me....
so those of us who can afford these coats can just as easily afford to bring with us when we go to the city or ship them ourselves to Canada.
But I for one wouldn't trust this lady to the end of her long paint on nail (which was filthy underneath and needed a fill---and I only know about this stuff from my staff, lol)
