Good bar food! Tried the alligator bites and they were delicious fried morsels with a dipping sauce that had a mild heat. The chicken entree was tender and a perfect bourbon glaze served up with two sides a salad. Kids meals are reasonably priced and come with a drink. The noice level is high, so if you have an unruly little one your gonna blend in. Very nice outside patio in the heat of summer it is a pass, but next time. We had Scott as our waiter and he was awesome and the joint was jumping. A musician came in so they have live music on Friday nights. We ate here 4 times in 8 days. The tenderloin and salmon were amazing and the Nutter Butter cheesecake is dangerously good. Being so close to the hospital was super convenient. Came into town from TN to visit family in the hospital. The service was friendly and the tavern-like setting was cozy during Winter Storm Fern (snowpocalypse 2026) was warm and inviting. OMG!! absolutely delicious... first we walked into the really cool pub and all the snaps mugs on the wall is so inviting. They have indoor and outdoor seating but we chose indoor. My husband had the bourbon glazed salmon with baked sweet potato and he loved it. I had the bourbon glazed chicken with pecans and i ate every bite. We tried another restaurant but it was too crowded and I'm so glad! The wait staff were awesome and very friendly. If we're ever back in Jasper we'll be coming back to SNAPS!!! read more

While visiting Jasper, In, we decided to try dinner at Snaps. We made reservations but went in early. They barely accommodated a 6:00 walk-in but did so with a real welcome. The manager came and said our name and had the table set for us. We both ordered steaks. The order came with a salad and two sides. We both got onion rings - good I got my steak with Jack Daniels sauce. It was too sweet and I would not order it again Waitress checked back on us several times and was sincere in her questions regarding our dinner. We had wine and bloody Mary's and our check was over $100. Next time I think I will try the custom pasta. Being the oldest bar in Jasper, we had to try it. We were traveling and chose to stop here for lunch. We like to support Local, not a chain, when we can. It's a bar, but it was pretty clear to see that ahead of time. The listings said the food was good, so we decided to give it a try. The vegetarian burger was tasty, and they make their own potato chips too. The servers were friendly. Jasper is a delightful town! Remember that this is a bar, not a restaurant. They serve food, but you won't want the food. It's German, which is the same as Cajun, meaning hot but not spicy, and the chips and salsa are greasy and tasteless. That's the bad part. But this is a bar, an excellent bar, with great service. Just don't get hungry there. The bartender has a great stock of liquor and mixers, and can make anything, I do believe. It is a friendly place, with a lay back atmosphere. read more

Service is not necessarily terrible, but seriously lacking in hospitality and at times depending on the crowd not very welcoming. Food is extremely expensive. Ordered a blooming onion for a friend that was craving the ones Texas roadhouse serves. Within the middle of the blooming onion was wet and very soggy batter from undercooking. On the other hand a very tasty but shockingly overpriced alligator bites appetizer consisting only of 8 "chicken heart" sized bites. Forgive me on possible inaccuracy on total number of bites. It's been two years since my husband and I last ordered these. I will say the blooming onion was very recent and I have attempted to order this twice. Each time the batter still soggy. The last attempt to order one over half of it was thrown away, being it was undercooked. This used to be a very popular place. I will say Covid has made a tremendous affect and taking it's toll on many great businesses and restaurants with the lack of workers so unfortunately, this is what happens when the businesses are understaffed. No I'll will intended. Only constructive criticism or help from receiving another bad experience. Granted as staffing improves I assume this will benefit most definitely and that is when I'd give this restaurant a definite try. It is a nicely kept restaurant within these walls, a small, but clean and well kept restaurant. read more

What isn't there to say about snaps. Great food and great company. Never feel as if I am alone when I come here. Everyone here has a colorful personality. Servers, cooks, bartenders, and the patrons. First of all absolutely awesome service!! It was recommended to us and it really was average at best. We are in the family area which resembled your grandmas dining room. I feel like we were eating in someone's bedroom. The fried shrimp and ribeye were really good and deserves recognition. The bourbon glaze flat iron steak was awful. 3 people ordered it and they were horrible cuts of meat--slathered in sugar sauce. We were all going with surf and turf but our waitress informed us they were out of filet steaks. Overall just average at best in our thoughts read more

Our server was great. The only reason I'm giving any stars. The food was not at all what I expected after hearing great reviews. I ordered a buffalo burger and it tasted like a very gamey deer. I had such an enjoyable evening out with my husband. This was the first time I really indulged in a meal here. Usually I sit down for a beer or two. We sat at the bar because the place was packed, plus that was just the type of experience we were wanting for the evening. Even though they were crazy busy, the bartender and back-up help were incredibly attentive, especially when our food came. They made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. I ordered the turkey burger which was a great option for meat and potato land. The husband ordered their specialty burger for that night. We both enjoyed our meals but I must say, the gator bites were the star of the show. Love those things! Service and atmosphere really turned this into a five star experience. I was not a fan. I may come here to drink, but not to eat. They do have a good selection of craft beers and a full bar with decent prices on that front. Atmosphere is neat, as it is in a building that has been a tavern of some sort or another for over a century. This building has Dubois County history all over it. The food, though? Blech. I did not enjoy it. I had Beer Cheese Dip and pretzels. The pretzels were flavorless except for a ton of salt. The cheese, which they are so proud of as a "secret recipe" is really just velveeta with some beer in it. Also rather flavorless and disappointing. I did not eat it and instead gave it to my other table-mates, who all agreed it was disappointing. I ordered the classic tenderloin - a Southern Indiana staple and something I make sure I get every time I'm in town. This was my first experience getting it here - and I will never do it again. Technically, yes, it is a tenderloin sandwich - but not a typical Southern Indiana sandwich. They did not pound out the meat, and so it was thick, chewy, and difficult to bite. The breading was flavorless. They put it on a hoagie bun, which I don't understand at all. This did not help the sandwich, as it added nothing to the overall texture or flavor. The onion rings were pretty good. Nothing special, but pretty good. If you ask for a side of mayonnaise, be aware you will get Miracle Whip and not mayonnaise. read more

The only reason I gave this 2 stars was because of the great service. ALL of the food was not freshly made. My husband had the Prime Rib Burger, fries and fresh fruit. It was a frozen patty, frozen fries and canned fruit. I had the Sundried Tomato build your own Pasta Bowl and it was barely edible. The sauce was canned and well, nasty! Our son had the Chicken Nuggets and Fries and let's just say the ones in my freeze were better than these. He is only 4, so he didn't mind too much. They do have a great beer selection, so that helped choking down the food. Plus, our bill was close to $50, definitely not worth it for the frozen food. If you are driving through, like we were, just keep on going! read more

I was in Jasper recently and was looking for a place for dinner. We searched Yelp and settled on SNAPS. It was an unseasonably warm night for November, so we were able to sit outside on their nice patio. They had a really good beer selection, and at good prices. We started with the gator snaps, which were essentially gator nuggets served with an incredibly addicting sauce. Three out of the four of us went with the tenderloin sandwich, because Indiana. It was fantastic. You could tell it was hand cut and breaded as they were all a little different. For some reason it was served on a sub bun instead of the traditional hamburger bun, but tasted fantastic just the same. I don't know if I'll ever be back to Jasper, but if I am, I'll go to SNAPS again. read more

Meh. It wasn't bad, but just not particularly good. I did enjoy the local and craft beer selection, including several on tap. The Snaps "Original" Beer Cheese boasts of a secret blend of cheese. Took a buddy out to eat here and it was both our first times trying the restaurant. We accidentally went into the bar side of the restaurant but the employees helped us get a table in the dining room right away. I had the Bison Burger and my buddy tried the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. My friend really liked his Philly Cheesesteak but I personally felt like the burger lacked in flavor. Our server was very nice and she always had our drinks topped off. Would definitely go back again but I will try something else! I would recommend this place to family and friends without hesitation.
