Jerk Chicken Entree
Paula S.

This is a mom and pop place. It was my first time eating Jamaican food--aside from Jamaican patties--and the lady was very sweet and welcoming and let me try some things before ordering a full meal. I finally decided on the Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and I recommend it. Only thing to keep in mind is that it is very spicy.

My review is based solely on 2 things: the owner Nick's friendly service and his delicious Jerk Pork! Get the Jerk Pork! It's one of the best I've ever had. Great job Nick. Keep throwing down on that Jerk Pork!

Their Ackee and saltfish...not bad!!

Some things taste better than others here!!! However, Tha Yelp Daddy approves this joint based on the Jerk Pork!!!!!!! Alone!! I mean, the way this brother cooks that Jerk Pork...yo!! It's like among the best I'll had and Tha Yelp Daddy is all his Pork...let alone Jerk Pork!!! The seasoning, the flavors, the tenderness!!!...I mean, for real...it's like the candy of the meats...Tha Yelp Daddy doesn't even need rice or cabbage on the side...just the Jerk Pork. Tha Yelp Daddy comes here quite often...so, I definitely approve this place...especially, for the pork!!

This place is delicious. They are a small mom and pop place. I highly recommend going here and eating. I had the peas and rice and jerk pork... So good!

Bellgordon's Caribbean Restaurant - Oxtails, rice and peas, jerk, chicken, and cabbage

Initially saw some pictures on Yelp that convinced me to give this place a try and I'm so glad I…read moredid! It's a small, mom-and-pop-like shop which of course is the best kind of restaurant IMO. When I walked in, everything smelled amazing and all the food was covered up, which I can appreciate for cleanliness purposes. I was greeted by a smiling and upbeat Simone, who is super warm and welcoming. This was a very pleasant surprise given how my beautiful Jamaican people do not always get the best rep for customer service (IYKYK). I ordered the oxtail, rice and peas and some jerk chicken. Simon gave me a beautiful, and packed plate. The rice and peas was SOO good, I was happy just eating it by itself. The oxtail pieces were big and juicy and FALL-OFF-THE-BONE good. The cabbage had a distinct color and flavor that I LOVED. I give the overall plate a 9/10 only because I didn't get any carrots with the oxtail or sweet plantains in my order which I personally prefer and personally feel should come with oxtail meals. Also because while the jerk chicken LOOKED AMAZING and was nice enough, it didn't pack as much flavor as I would like and they didn't have a signature sauce with it (again, a personal preference, try it yourself, to see how YOU feel). Overall, this was an awesome experience. I would definitely eat here again and strongly encourage you to give it a try if you haven't yet, even just to experience the pleasure of meeting Simone.

She was not stingy with filling the plate up. The lady that helped us today was sweet as pie. She was warm, sweet and professional. The place was clean and the food aroma filled the room. Pure goodness! I'm so glad I found this place. When my craving for Jamaican food comes back, I now have my go-to place. 100% recommend!

I love fish and eat it several times a week and so when I find a fish restaurant that serves exceptional seafood I just can't help but offer a high recommendation in this one really is at the top of their game. And I have to say that their lunch prices and portions are an incredible value for such wonderful food. And if the food isn't enough to make, you want to come here over and over again, the welcoming and sincerity of the service will definitely win you over. From the person that greets you at the door to the wait staff to the people that clear the tables every member of the staff makes you feel like you are their most valued guest. I really love this place and we will be back to try more things from the menu. Today I had a tripletail. I am not sure that I've ever seen it in restaurant before having previously only eaten it when I caught it. And that was many years ago. But it is without any doubt, one of my favorite fish to eat. Absolutely delicious and they're simple preparation brought out the flavor even more. I had it with a salad that was so fresh and complemented the fish perfectly. All in all, I love the restaurant and will be back. As I said, I would love to try the other things on the menu, but if Tripletail is on there that day, I am likely to order it again. One thing, especially nice was that we were really here to enjoy the company of family that we'd not seen in a long time. We took up the table for almost 3 hours. They refilled my iced tea regularly and continue to serve us and even with the long time spent there we felt completely welcome. Kudos to them for such amazing service. If you were in the Pompano Beach area and love to eat fish, this is a place you do not want to miss.

You can choose which rice --and we both had peas n rice (rice n peas?), plus sautéed cabbage, and plantains. The chicken comes in a delicious brown gravy and I requested extra gravy on my rice. We sat in to eat -- but all meals are served in takeout containers. The chicken was fall off the bone tender. Everything was wonderful. Prices were reasonable. The staff were friendly. Although this spot is a little out of my way, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite Trini places…read morein South Florida. Like... worth the drive every time. Service is always fast and friendly, and you can either dine in or take it to go. When you walk in, you order at the counter. They've got the hot food station right there with options displayed behind the counter so you can see exactly what you're getting (dangerous in the best way lol). Some items -- like the rotis and fry bakes -- are cooked fresh when you order. Then there's the fresh doubles station, where they assemble your doubles right in front of you. I've stopped in plenty of times before, but these past two weeks I was deep in my Trini breakfast cravings, so I went twice and tried two different classics. First visit: I got a fry bake with all the things -- baigan choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced eggplant), tomato choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced tomatoes, fried aloo (potatoes), buljol (shredded saltfish with tomatoes, onion, peppers done the Trini way), and smoked herring sautéed with Trini herbs. The breakfast usually comes with the fry bake or sada roti and 2-3 sides... but listen! Everything looked too good, so I ordered extra sides. And I'm glad I did. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly reminded me of my mom's home cooking. A real-deal Trini breakfast. Second visit: I went back for the bake and shark -- because if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. Another iconic Trini classic street food, cooked fresh when you order. The fry bake was soft and fluffy, stuffed with perfectly fried shark, and topped with a nicely seasoned lettuce/coleslaw-style mix. Great size, super satisfying, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes -- I always ask for their in-house hot pepper sauce. They make it fresh daily and it has a serious spicy kick (the kind Trinis appreciate). Even though I went for breakfast, everything in the hot food station looked so good that I couldn't leave without grabbing boneless curry chicken with paratha roti to take home for later. They also have a bone-in chicken option, because some of us Trinis need the bone for full flavor, okay lol but I got boneless. I've had their paratha before -- soft, fluffy, and perfect for soaking up curry. Their curries are always well-seasoned and full of flavor. By the register, they sell traditional Trini snacks and sweets -- things like kurma, chocolates, and fudge. I grabbed the fudge this time and whew... it was rich, creamy, and dangerously good. Like "why did I not buy two?" good. You do get 4 fudge squares in the pack. All in all, I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I've never had a bad meal here, and I'll absolutely keep making the drive whenever my Trini cravings hit again. Tabanka stays delivering

They have a variety of stewed meats for roti meals and sides like mashed pumpkin, potatoes, spinach and other veggies. Everything is uniquely seasoned and spiced. If you're not good with spicy foods, ask for anything with peppers to not include them. My husband ordered the stewed boneless chicken with paratha roti and pumpkin plus potatoes as sides. The roti was fresh and hot. The pumpkin was my favorite. The chicken was easy to eat and tasted good, not dry. The potatoes were soft. I got a double and it was amazing. Lots of tamarind flavor and some curry and cumin tastes. I love chickpeas and there were plenty of it stuffed inside. Gotta eat it quick or else the shell becomes soggy. I also ordered a bake and shark. First time trying it. The crispy texture of the fried fish plus the soft outer shell along with the lettuce and tomato all tasted delicious together. However, the fish was way too salty for me. After the first few bites, I couldn't eat anymore of it. My husband who has a much stronger taste palette even agreed it was on the salty side. Will definitely come back to try more items!
