    Fried Chicken Barbi Fried Chicken

Really wasn't impressed. This restaurant came highly recommended and I was really excited to try some of the staple dishes. Not sure we got it on an off night or what but honestly I was a bit disappointed. This order totaled 85.00. We ordered the Barbi Fried Chicken w/ rice and peas. The sauce was overly sweet and the rice and peas a little under seasoned. We ordered the chicken and pasta. Was expecting sweet peppers and cheese and sauce. However it came with some tomato on top. The flavor of the chicken had potential but the chicken itself was tough and stringy. Last we ordered the Mac and cheese. Now this was an 8/10 inch e enjoyed the Mac and cheese it had the right amount out of sweet and spicy.

Decided to check this place out based on the positive reviews on both Yelp and Google. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with a parking lot that has ample parking. There are a few high tables and bench seating. The restaurant was empty when we arrived however we did see a few people come in and pick up takeout orders. The gentleman who took our order, also worked the register. He was very nice and accommodating. We ordered the Hot Honey Chicken, 10 piece wings w/jerk sauce, mac & cheese, and the bang bang shrimp platter w/sweet plantains and sauteed vegetables. Everything was very tasty. The mac and cheese was a little sweet which other reviewers noted in their Yelp reviews. It was different but it was good. The wait for our order was long, also noted in others reviews. My recommendation is to order takeout because of the long wait. Also the restroom wasn't in the best condition. I didn't visit it until I was done eating or I would have reconsidered my patronage.

My party and I went on a weekday and arrived right when it opened. The restaurant was decorated nicely and clean. The music was loud when we got there but we asked them to turn it down (we were the only ones in the restaurant) and they did. We ordered the five honey hot wings with fries and fried green plantains, bang bang salmon sandwich with fries and escovitch fish with rice and sweet plantains. The presentation of the dish for all of the meals ordered looked nice. The service did not take long. The salmon sandwich was very good, the fries were cold and no salt for both dishes it was served with. We informed the gentleman behind the counter but nothing was done about it. The chicken wings was ok - saucy - the escovitch fish was ok as well. I would give this place a 3.5.

Amazing place I love the presentation. I came here on a Sunday around noon the food was well season. And cooked to perfection costumer service was very welcoming. They also had a live Dj playing reggae music.nice vibes I also got there natural juice, which consist of "cucumber and green apple with the perfect hint of ginger". Definitely will be back.

Let just say the brunch be brunching... of course social media led me here. It's a small place that has brunch on Sundays with a live dj. The selection is more so Caribbean food. The woman at the counter was so nice and helpful. Any questions I had she had detailed answers and I really liked that. I ended up placing to go orders for me and my mom. So I ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was fried to perfection and the waffle was fluffy and good. I also ordered a side of ackee and saltfish. This had to be the best I've ever had in the states. I really enjoyed everything I bought. I also ended up ordering one of their in house drinks a raspberry and mango I guess lemonade. Very refreshing!!! I can definitely say I'm running this meal back immediately.

Randomly looking for something to eat & decided to check this place out. A lot of reviews stated the wait would be long. But on a Thursday afternoon (1pm) we were the only people there. Not a big deal. The guys there were welcoming. Inside is a bit small, but they had plenty of seating. They also had 2 tables outside. The guys that were there were welcoming & always checked on us! - Food was amazing! Flavorful, Colorful & Presentable. Photos and descriptions dont do the food justice! Definitely my new favorite Caribbean spot in the area!

This place is for sure a hidden gem. The food is so yummy. The service is also pretty good. There is a small area to dine in or outside. However, we also order ahead to pick up. My favorite is the salmon salad. My goal is to try other items on the menu.

Came here for the first time on my birthday for lunch and i had the shrimp pasta { bang bang fried shrimp } pasta and it was kinda good I've had better but it was ok . The restaurant is pretty small kinda a hiding gem but more of a to go place to get food . The food was cooked to order a nice size amount to possible share if your not to greedy like me lol any who i give the pasta a 5/10 it came with about 10 big shrimps which kinda tasted like it was cooked in the fried chicken oil but it was good , I'm not sure why the died tomatoes but it was to many of them sprinkled on the pasta and it seemed to be very cheese i wished it had more bang bang sauce on the pasta since that's what it's called I'll probably try this place again but with fried chicken pasta

The location is not in the best neighborhood, and by looks of their front door (iron bars), it very well might be an unsafe area. The restaurant inside is clean, I'll give them that. Tables and floors were well kept and wiped down after guests left. There were a couple ladies behind the counter who were friendly and gave us some time to review the menu. Jason and I both ordered the same thing, goat curry (curry goat) with rice and peas and it came side a small side of steamed cabbage and a few sweet plantains as well. We took our food to go and all the way home it smelled go good! Immediately when I opened the container I knew right away, it was going to be a hit or miss (for me). The color or the goat was very yellow, which means, this curry was more turmeric than actual curry power. Being from the Caribbean, you know the difference between the 2 things.... Nevertheless, we ate, and we both liked the food, it was not something that I felt like I could not stop eating, nor thought 'wow I can't wait to go back'. The meat of the goat was tender for sure. The flavors that I'm familiar with, were not there. And I understand that this might be the restaurant's way of cooking, and their style, and that's totally ok, it's just for me this was not one of my favorite Jamaican spots.

Everything tasted great. The chicken was crispy, the rice and peas were well seasoned, and the oxtail gravy brought everything together perfectly. The plantains were a standout, sweet like candy and cooked just right. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. However, the ambiance felt more like a hole in the wall spot rather than a polished dining environment. That being said, the quality and flavor of the food definitely make up for it. Overall, it's a great place to grab authentic, delicious Jamaican food, and I'd definitely come back again.

It's a small, mom-and-pop-like shop which of course is the best kind of restaurant IMO. When I walked in, everything smelled amazing and all the food was covered up, which I can appreciate for cleanliness purposes. I was greeted by a smiling and upbeat Simone, who is super warm and welcoming. This was a very pleasant surprise given how my beautiful Jamaican people do not always get the best rep for customer service (IYKYK). I ordered the oxtail, rice and peas and some jerk chicken. Simon gave me a beautiful, and packed plate. The rice and peas was SOO good, I was happy just eating it by itself. The oxtail pieces were big and juicy and FALL-OFF-THE-BONE good. The cabbage had a distinct color and flavor that I LOVED. I give the overall plate a 9/10 only because I didn't get any carrots with the oxtail or sweet plantains in my order which I personally prefer and personally feel should come with oxtail meals. Also because while the jerk chicken LOOKED AMAZING and was nice enough, it didn't pack as much flavor as I would like and they didn't have a signature sauce with it (again, a personal preference, try it yourself, to see how YOU feel). Overall, this was an awesome experience. I would definitely eat here again and strongly encourage you to give it a try if you haven't yet, even just to experience the pleasure of meeting Simone.

One thing, especially nice was that we were really here to enjoy the company of family that we'd not seen in a long time. We took up the table for almost 3 hours. Service is always fast and friendly, and you can either dine in or take it to go. When you walk in, you order at the counter. They've got the hot food station right there with options displayed behind the counter so you can see exactly what you're getting (dangerous in the best way lol). Some items -- like the rotis and fry bakes -- are cooked fresh when you order. Then there's the fresh doubles station, where they assemble your doubles right in front of you. I've stopped in plenty of times before, but these past two weeks I was deep in my Trini breakfast cravings, so I went twice and tried two different classics. First visit: I got a fry bake with all the things -- baigan choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced eggplant), tomato choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced tomatoes, fried aloo (potatoes), buljol (shredded saltfish with tomatoes, onion, peppers done the Trini way), and smoked herring sautéed with Trini herbs. The breakfast usually comes with the fry bake or sada roti and 2-3 sides... but listen! Everything looked too good, so I ordered extra sides. And I'm glad I did. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly reminded me of my mom's home cooking. A real-deal Trini breakfast. Second visit: I went back for the bake and shark -- because if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. Another iconic Trini classic street food, cooked fresh when you order. The fry bake was soft and fluffy, stuffed with perfectly fried shark, and topped with a nicely seasoned lettuce/coleslaw-style mix. Great size, super satisfying, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes -- I always ask for their in-house hot pepper sauce. They make it fresh daily and it has a serious spicy kick (the kind Trinis appreciate). Even though I went for breakfast, everything in the hot food station looked so good that I couldn't leave without grabbing boneless curry chicken with paratha roti to take home for later. They also have a bone-in chicken option, because some of us Trinis need the bone for full flavor, okay lol but I got boneless. I've had their paratha before -- soft, fluffy, and perfect for soaking up curry. Their curries are always well-seasoned and full of flavor. By the register, they sell traditional Trini snacks and sweets -- things like kurma, chocolates, and fudge. I grabbed the fudge this time and whew... it was rich, creamy, and dangerously good. Like "why did I not buy two?" good. You do get 4 fudge squares in the pack. All in all, I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I've never had a bad meal here, and I'll absolutely keep making the drive whenever my Trini cravings hit again. Tabanka stays delivering

The roti was fresh and hot. The pumpkin was my favorite. The chicken was easy to eat and tasted good, not dry. The potatoes were soft. I got a double and it was amazing. Lots of tamarind flavor and some curry and cumin tastes. I love chickpeas and there were plenty of it stuffed inside. Gotta eat it quick or else the shell becomes soggy. The roti was made to order, so they were steamy hot, and smelled just as they should. I also picked up 2 different pepper sauces and a couple bags of Guyanese chow mine, everything was about $40, not a bad deal. There's also homemade sweets & beverages, as well as various bottles of hot pepper sauce, spices, split channa, kuchela, and other Caribbean beverages. I was greeted by a gentleman with a nice Trinidadian accent. I kindly asked for a menu while he tended to the other customers. The prices range from low to moderate. When the gentleman was ready to take my order, I told him I wanted boneless curry chicken which was served with my choice of dhalpourie roti and curry potato. I also ordered six doubles and a bottle of mauby. There was a bit of a wait cause the roti had to be made, which I didn't mind at all. Then he made the doubles. I watched him as he laid down two bara (flatbread) then scooped some curried channa (chick peas) on each, topping them with tamarind and cucumber chutney. Once the food was ready, I took everything to an available table and your girl was in foodie heaven. I started with one of the doubles which was absolutely delicious! The flavors of the curried channa and both chutneys complemented each other nicely, and the barra had a yummy texture...moving on...the curry chicken and potato was also delicious and flavorful with a mild pepper kick. At times I broke pieces of the roti to pick up some chicken and/or potato like a true islander. The atmosphere was truly relaxing with Indian music softly playing in the background. I was casually drinking the mauby which was lightly sweet and refreshing. I am definitely looking forward on coming back to try other foods, especially the bake & shark.
