My go to. Curry chicken rice and peas lunch special
Kerry P.

I will drive to lengths to get here. The food is amazing and fresh. Big portions. From Pattie's to curry chicken and goat. Everything is so clean and the seating area is clean also. The staff is friendly and attentive. The lunch special is 6.99 with a can of soda.

I can't believe I had not been here. Ordered: Rice & Peas w/ Fried Chicken & Oxtail Gravy (lunch special) Soursop Juice They offer the typical Jamaican options, oxtail, ackee & saltfish, fried chicken, soup etc. Small, yet personable Jamaican restaurant. I visited on Saturday and they were not super busy. At the entrance, it was clearly noted customers are required to wear their mask. The inside was clean, service was prompt and price is reasonable. The food was pretty good, well seasoned and they gave me oxtail gravy! a plus, lol. The chicken was a bit salty but didn't impact the overall experience. I will definitely be back to try their other menu items, especially their patties.

Escovitch fish w/ food!

OMG I was so indecisive on what and where to eat on this Good Friday. I've passed by this restaurant numerous times and said "one day I'm gonna try!" Today was that day! I called to see if they had Escovitch fish and whomever the young man was that answered the phone was very very polite and attentive. He checked and said it was just getting finished. Took a little while for delivery but I must say this is the BEST fresh fish I've had in a very long time. It was seasoned to perfection wasn't too spicy/pepper. The food (dumplings, banana, and yam) was nice and tender. I'm def going back for

Red beans with beef

He said it was so good he felt it in his soul. Came three times wile I was in Florida for 4 days.

Small oxtail with rice and peas

I'm going to say it, this Jamaican spot is better than the renowned, Dutch Pot. The service was so much better and the wait is shorter. The employees were friendly. Even though it doesn't have a drive thru, it's just a great place for authentic, fresh, and delicious Jamaican food. They have the best meat patties in town (yes, just as good or even better than Dutch Pot). Honestly, I really think this is a hidden gem because it's not as popular and bumping as the competition. They have a decent size parking lot (next door to Bru's Room). They are open until 10:30 pm Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday. The portions were so large; the small ($10.25) is enough for two meals. I had the small oxtail with rice and peas; it comes with steamed vegetables and two pieces of freshly fried plantains. The veggies were good with mainly cabbage in it; the plantains were to die for and so soft and warm; it melted in your mouth. The flavor of the oxtails was perfect, the meat fell off the bones. I like my rice drenched with the oxtail sauce. The large is $12.99. I also ordered a spicy beef patty ($2) which was so fresh and hot. The meat inside was so flavorful and had a hint of spicy: it was nicely minced and the pastry was nice and flakey. I've always opted to go to the competitors but now this will be my new go-to spot when the cravings occur. They have plenty of tables and the restaurant was very clean. I highly recommend it!

Half pound of Jerk Pork

I've been here twice and what sets this Jamaican restaurant apart from all the dozens I've been to is this spot has very pleasant service. They will make you feel welcomed from start to finish. Today I ordered the Jerk Pork and it was a bit salty but tasty. I also tried their oxtail which was not bad. The food is fair but the service is excellent.

Red pea soup was scrumptious, patties are delicious. The few meals had were always good. Bless up!

Initially saw some pictures on Yelp that convinced me to give this place a try and I'm so glad I…read moredid! It's a small, mom-and-pop-like shop which of course is the best kind of restaurant IMO. When I walked in, everything smelled amazing and all the food was covered up, which I can appreciate for cleanliness purposes. I was greeted by a smiling and upbeat Simone, who is super warm and welcoming. This was a very pleasant surprise given how my beautiful Jamaican people do not always get the best rep for customer service (IYKYK). I ordered the oxtail, rice and peas and some jerk chicken. Simon gave me a beautiful, and packed plate. The rice and peas was SOO good, I was happy just eating it by itself. The oxtail pieces were big and juicy and FALL-OFF-THE-BONE good. The cabbage had a distinct color and flavor that I LOVED. I give the overall plate a 9/10 only because I didn't get any carrots with the oxtail or sweet plantains in my order which I personally prefer and personally feel should come with oxtail meals. Also because while the jerk chicken LOOKED AMAZING and was nice enough, it didn't pack as much flavor as I would like and they didn't have a signature sauce with it (again, a personal preference, try it yourself, to see how YOU feel). Overall, this was an awesome experience. I would definitely eat here again and strongly encourage you to give it a try if you haven't yet, even just to experience the pleasure of meeting Simone.

She was not stingy with filling the plate up. The lady that helped us today was sweet as pie. She was warm, sweet and professional. The place was clean and the food aroma filled the room. Pure goodness! I'm so glad I found this place. When my craving for Jamaican food comes back, I now have my go-to place. 100% recommend!

I ordered the Grilled Conch, with fried green Plantains. The Conch was very flavorful and tender, they know what they're doing here because Conch is that Seafood if you don't know how to cook it, it will be chewy. The plantains was not my favorite, they were not pressed enough and I like them more on the crispy side, these were too thick, but they were okay. The lady that greeted me brought out a sample of the seafood Chowder and I wish I ordered some to go, it was delicious!! I also ordered some Conch Fritters, very flavorful, a bit too doughy for my liking, much better than any Conch Fritters I've had here in the US, I'm from the Bahamas so my standards for Conch Fritters are above average. Overall great place and I will order from here again and I think they will do great!!

They were not familiar with the menu and it took about 20 minutes for someone to ask us what we wanted to drink. It took another 25 minutes to get the drinks. We ordered appetizers and apparently she forgot about us... when another waitress approached us about 15 minutes later we asked about the appetizers and ordered our entrees right away. It still took close to 30 minutes to start receiving our food... one plate at a time with 5 to 10 minutes increments in between. One person had to wait an extra 20 minutes while everyone else had received their food already. A birthday cake had been purchased for our table and it was given to the wrong table. By the time people in our party realized our cake was delivered to the wrong table, candle was blown, cake was being cut and eaten! The chef apologized, the co owner apologized and almost half of our bill was deducted because of this mistake... but it was just a really bad experience. I will not be back!!! Sheila

All that to say expect a different level of service. If you have traveled internationally, you know that less touristy places that do not cater to Americans are usually the most authentic and worth visiting. The other reviews rated this place down for no AC and the wait. I rated this place based on those factors too. Let's talk about it. First time here, and we really enjoyed the food. My husband is from the same country and told me the food is excellent and authentic. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the location too. Food Pholouri 12 pieces of soft deep-fried dough. Reminds me a bit of Brazilian cheese bread. Boneless Chicken, something I forgot. Roti dough is similar to naan bread and pita bread. Comes with soft chicken breast chunks and chickpeas mixture inside a soft roti. Made fresh, and it was delicious. The owner sat and chatted with us, and we learned a lot about her and her family. Made Fresh She makes everything fresh and on the stop to ensure the highest quality. Her menu is simple, only a few items, and she wants to make them fresh, which at times means it will take a minute. Spicy level? She only adds spicy if you want it. She makes it without because it is easier to add than to remove the spicy level. No AC Her husband passed a few years ago from living in the cold. They spent their last few years together in South Florida. The weather is similar to her hometown, so she doesn't turn on the AC. The fans blow, and it is cool enough. If you go in with the right expectations, it is enjoyable. Tipping Also, she didn't allow us to tip when we paid. She clicked no tip and gave us our receipt. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and it might not be ideal for visiting on a really hot, busy day. Still, any other day I say give it a go. If they had AC this place would be 5 stars hands down.

Going in, the interior was very clean and clearly gave off carribean vibes. The tables inside were jumping with other patrons, but we were seated rather quickly. For dinner, we ordered 1x griot dinner complete (meaning the platter; rice & peas, pikliz, plaintains), 1x lassot complete (fried turkey), and 2x pate codes (think of a loaded hatian empanada; we ordered 1x fish and 1x chicken). Moving on with our review; everything was excellent! The griot had a nice crispy exterior but was tenderly seasoned inside. The lassot was surprisingly moist and crispy too. To include, the contrast of the onions marinated with the green seasoning on top. The rice & peas were cooked perfectly as they were light as air and plantains were crispy & salted nicely too. The pate codes were huge in size and flavor as well! My preference would be the original over the fish, but they both packed a tangy, savory, and spicy punch! Moreover, we had the pleasure of meeting and being served by the owner, who was very friendly and attentive. Overall, we were highly satisfied with our experience and would definitely recommend this spot for anybody who's looking for quality hatian cusuine. Final verdict 5/5!
