Snapper jacks special taco sauce, hot salsa and pico.
    Joanne A.

I had some errands to run in Ventura and my "reward" was to grab a crispy potato taco at Snapper Jacks! Best reward I've had in a long time!!! The service was amazing and fast! They give you a handful of tortilla chips and that taco was HUGE!!! The salsa bar is awesome and they have a great selection; fresh cilantro, lemons, limes, pickled carrot, jalapeño and onions, and salsas for every taste Their special taco sauce is so yummy it will make you go back for more! Literally! They have plenty of seating, some outdoors...and the place is spotless! The energy is upbeat and everyone is happy as they dig into their food! I know I was in taco heaven! The prices are affordable too and I can't wait to go back!

If I'm paying almost $8 for one taco I don't think it's asking too much to have a regular sized piece of fish that is NOT burnt.

My family has been coming here for YEARS on our way home from the beach & today I finally got to taste what all the hype is about! Soo good!

Jack's Mini Combo with a Crispy Corn Tortilla Potato Taco

This is my go to place for Potato Tacos. I've tried them at a few other places but none are even remotely as good as they are here. There are a lot of other things on the menu. Maybe those other things are good, i don't know. All I get here is Jack's Combo with either one or two Potato Tacos. Usually I get the Mini Combo, one taco. The Combo comes with Rice and Beans and a handful of tortilla chips. You can choose between whole or refried beans. You can also choose between corn or flour tortillas. In my opinion, the best configuration is corn tortillas (fried Crispy) and refried beans. The Potato Tacos here are just about perfect. It's like eating a loaded baked potato in taco form. The creamy sauce they put on those tacos is unlike any taco sauce I've ever had. And if you want more you can load up at the Salsa Bar. And Snapper Jack's has a bomb ass Salsa Bar. They've got so many Salsas it's ridiculous. Like probably about ten or fifteen. I don't know really. I couldn't be bothered counting salsas, I had a potato taco to eat. Sometimes I take my tacos to go, but I much prefer eating inside the restaurant because they have really great Surfing videos playing all the time. There are a few other TVs tuned to whatever sports programming is happening at the moment, but the TV over the counter where you pick up your food is almost always running Surfing vids. The only negative aspect of eating inside is that the chairs here Suck. They Suck so egregiously, They Suck with a capital S. I hate those cheap ass metal chairs. I'd probably eat here way more often if they had more comfortable chairs. My butt don't want no cheap ass metal chairs. I love everything else about the inside of the restaurant, particularly all the Surfing related posters and ephemera. But those chairs, ugh! And here's another reason why I love Snapper Jack's: the people working there are clearly well trained, efficient and actually seem pretty happy doing what they're doing. That's rare. Mikey C says: did I mention they have icy cold IBC Root Beer in bottles? They do!

Awesome Chile Relleno's!! You can have as a burrito, a plate or à la carte! Service is great & love the salsa bar.

Pretty good fish tacos if you're looking for something quick and easy to eat while in Ventura. We got our food within a few minutes and there's a lot of salsas to choose from Nice clean tables to sit outside and inside

I was shocked to see a medium (unsweetened) black iced tea costs $3.25. I guess that's for the paper cup, lid and straw. Because ice tea itself is not that expensive. But it's alright. The chicken taco was yummy. I've been here before, it's quite a popular little place. I never rated it because it was hit and miss for me, and I wanted to eat here more to give a fair rating. No complaints about my taco it was good. Tea was good. Salsas were alright. I tried several. They were just okay. It was clean inside. Food was decent, but it wasn't something I'd crave, just convenient. Close by where I was shopping. I'm giving 4 stars because I thought the food tasted fresh. I took off one star because the iced tea was expensive, and the salsa was just okay. At no point did I think "Omg this is delicious!" But neither did I think it was bad. Better salsas would have been better. They didn't taste as fresh. Overall a decent experience though. The chicken was tasty!

Very friendly workers and the food comes out quick. I didn't order it from DoorDash the last time I got it and wow it was very pricey! $17 for nachos is insane but they did taste very good still. The ingredients are fresh and tasty!

Wet style BRC. Holy smokes $11 great deal

My favorite everyday place to eat in Ventura county. I could probably eat here everyday. Fresh ingredients, good prices, best salsas. The use the good cheese too. So bomb

But this spot completely exceeded our expectations. We ordered delivery, and even then, everything arrived fresh, well-packaged, and still absolutely delicious--which says a lot. The food was incredibly flavorful without being heavy or greasy (something that's hard to find). You could really taste the freshness in the ingredients, and every dish felt well-balanced and thoughtfully made. This is one of those places you don't necessarily expect to be that good, and then it totally delivers. We'll definitely be ordering again next time we're in Ventura!

For me, one of the best indicators that the food is going to be amazing is when there are dish photos on the menu. That alone sets the tone. The fresh salsa bar is a standout, and yes, they have Mexican Coke and cervezas. On weekends, don't miss the white pozole with crunchy rolled taquitos filled with ricotta-style queso and all the fresh fixings. Add that chili oil and thank me later. I also love their tacos, especially the veggie ones. I'm not vegetarian, but they're that good. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. Clean, bright, and no-frills in the best way. It feels like a true neighborhood taquería where you can come as you are, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy your meal. I recently learned this is their first location, which makes it even better. It's family-owned, now with four locations across Santa Barbara, Oxnard, and Ventura County, yet it still feels grounded and local. You can dine in, take out, or order delivery. The place is spotless, service is quick, and the staff is genuinely kind. A solid go-to for quality Mexican food that hits every time.

I've eaten at 3 of their locations, and perhaps this location may be slightly more geared to 'gringo' tastes. I had their breakfast burrito, and unlike most other tacquerias, they give you a lot of nice melted cheese. The beans didn't taste as salty or flavorful as some other taco places. But overall, very satisfying, just didn't have that fully tacqueria taste. I have really enjoyed their veggie Papas and rajas tacos at the Avenue location. This may be the best tacqueria for vegetarians, more options. Staff here tends to be younger (college ages), and generally very friendly. I actually sometimes just stop in for their Horchata. It's not homemade (as that is a very difficult drink to make!) but I find it satisfying. In general all the prices here are reasonable, less than some other places that are charging 15-17 for burritos. This is a strong recommendation if you are downtown and craving casual Mexican eats!

The beef was so tender I would not have needed a knife to cut it. Very flavorful and not a lot of fat at all. Delicious. Mild salsa and guacamole is included. All for under $20.00 and home made chips and salsa are included. Very good salsa I opted to take home with me. The entree was quite generous and I took half of my burrito home with me. My only comment is the place is a bit small and rather dark as there are several TV's to watch sports. I do like sports but I prefer a bit more lighting to see what I am eating and how clean the establishment is. Otherwise I would have given a 5 star rating. I do need to mention the restroom was quite clean. Obvious to see this is a locals gathering spot.
