This is especially painful if its a To-Go order and you went ALL the way home to discover their mistake. When thevstaff was shown their error you receive a half assed " I'm sorry". Yeah. So. Not impressed. Management better improve. From one business owner to the next if your staff makes a mistake offer to refund or provide a free menu item. Maybe a future gift card so that your disgruntled patron will return. None of this occurred. So Im sad to say Snapper Jacks of Camarillo is just not worth it anymore. read more

Get the Snapper Jack 2 taco combo as it's the best deal around. However, the real treat is their sauces. Before COVID it was great to get one of each to enjoy with every bite. You get one sauce per taco now, but it's totally worth it to pay for extra or get a cup. Seriously, their Shake sauce is unbelievable! My only complaint is I wish they had a way to include tip on credit card transactions as I know most places suspended taking cash (for the time being). I was staying in a nearby hotel for a "mom break" and didn't want to travel far for food, so I thought I'd try this place out since it's basically in the same parking lot. I'm really glad I did! My fish tacos were very large but had the flavor of the high heat oil used in Asian restaurants, and I suspect that is how they got my food to me so fast. I wouldn't order it again. So good! I got the Jack's combo which comes with two tacos, chips, rice, and beans. I got to try the fish two ways (fried and grilled)--both were delicious but grilled is definitely my fave! The fish is perfectly cooked and still moist! They have a full bar of salsas and I especially love their two green ones (not tomatillo) but I can't remember their names. Super creamy and full of flavor! The chips are freshly fried there (you can tell) and pair well with the beans and rice and all the other salsa options from the salsa bar. I'm glad my friend and his family brought me to check out this place, it is definitely one of the best fish taco places I've ever been to. We even tried the red snapper quesadillas, sooo good. For what it is, it's great. We usually go to the one in Thousand Oaks. TO's has its drinks and salsa back in a dark cave. This one has the salsa out in the open where people can access both sides. The drinks are right out where you can get to them without bumping into somebody. When we entered we were cheerfully greeted by a college aged girl. I'm not that familiar with the menu and she gave suggestions. We asked for the chips right away so we could munch while waiting for our order, which wasn't long. It seriously took about 5 minutes. I was treated terribly over the phone then hung up on. I ordered through door dash and since they don't allow for any kinds of substitutions I was forced to call the store to see if they could simply add onions and cilantro to my burrito (something so simple that it should be able to be dine through the app but that's another story). I spoke to a young man (nov 26th at about 4 pm) about the substitution and asked why we can't make those changes through the app. He was rude and and told me he's not responsible for how it works and doesn't know why. At the same time he was yelling to the cooks to add the onions and cilantro and trying to ignore my question. It was quite a chaotic conversation that ended with him telling me that I'm crazy and that he's going to quit his job. He ended up hanging up on me so I called back. He hung up again a few times. The reason I kept calling was to speak to a manager. Finally a guy named Adam answered and claimed to be the manager. I asked him for the the owners contact and the name of the employee that hung up on me. He refused to give me the name of the guy even though I asked a couple of times. He did provide me with the number of the owner in which he told me her name was Laura Plasmar. I called and left her a message about 5 weeks ago but she has not returned my phone call. Sadly I liked the food but I will not be giving my business to them after the way I was treated with no concern from the owner. read more

My family and I have been visiting Snapper Jack's in Camarillo since they opened and have always had great memories. Since COVID hit last year, this company has gone so far downhill in greed that's it's almost surreal. My food orders are typically $60+ and the fact they only give one free salsa per entree and charge 25 cents for each additional, is absurd. I have no idea why this new policy was created, but it's 100% a good way to lose long time customers. Icing on the cake is how rude the cashiers are when the inform you of said policy in complete arrogance. We have far too many other options for Mexican food spots to endure this customer experience. So sad, end of a era..... The family owned "Olas De Carlos Surf Grill" in Camarillo is a far better alternative! Thank me later! read more

Brought my two kids here when we were staying at the Courtyard Marriott in the same plaza. Staff was helpful and patient as I battled my two under 5 year olds to get their orders straight. Ambiance is surfy-cantina. Feels like an Island's, really. It was clean and well staffed. Salsa bar was well kept. It's not authentic Mexican food whatsoever. Completely Americanized, but delicious nonetheless. I had the two taco special--steak and chicken. Was really good with the Shark sauce, but the taco had TONS of lettuce and very little cotija cheese. More queso, please! Ordered a side of veggies for us, and they were a good squash, zucchini, carrot, broccoli mix, but look at my photo--pool of oil at the bottom. Not for me. Rice--good. Chips--good. Sauce--good..er. This place is okay. Staff was friendly and my food was ready in 2 minutes. I got the combo plate which includes 2 tacos, rice and beans. The rice was decent, and the beans (I got whole) had a weird taste to them... like fishy.. I did not finish them. The first taco I got was a battered fish taco in a soft tortilla. I enjoyed it. It was like Rubio's in San Diego (not all the way in taste but similar). The second was a grilled fish taco in a fried shell. Though the fish was warm, i felt the tortilla wasn't. I have been eating at this location since they first opened but my most recent trip might turn me off from ordering more regularly unless I see things change. I saw that they now offered curbside pick up which is a great option given the current pandemic. However, my curbside pickup didn't even happen. I arrived and parked my car. I wasn't sure if I had to check in or anything so I decided to call the store. Nobody answered and I got their voicemail. I ended up having to go inside and even once inside, I was initially ignored by the three or four people working behind the counter. One helpful employee asked if I needed anything and I mentioned I was there for an online order pick up and she grabbed my order. I had ordered a drink as well, which online, showed a photo of a 20oz bottle of Coke, but when I asked for it, she grabbed a 12oz Mexican Coke. I love Mexican Coke. but it also wasn't what I thought I ordered. When I arrived home with the food, I saw that they had put the wrong tacos on the two plates, they mixed up the sides. I ordered their Jack combo which included a shrimp taco on a soft tortilla and battered snapper taco on a fried tortilla with a side of refried beans and rice :) The battered taco was goood in comparison to the shrimp taco. It was a filling meal and they also serve alcoholic beverages too which is a plus. They have a nice selection of salsas at their salsa bar and the Shack Sauce was my favorite because it had a tangy ranch-thousand island taste which got me hooked! I said again when she read my order to me at pick, nope no rice. Both employees hemmed and hawd about what to do and reluctantly said ohhh we can fix it I guess.... I like supporting locally owned and operated when I can so they get a star for that as well. First visit I tried the combo plate and it was entirely too much food for me with two tacos. Rice, beans, and chips. Second visit I went with the mini combo which is just one taco, rice, beans, and chips. Their salsa bar is probably my favorite thing, with 8 different salsas to choose from. Service; In both visits the cashiers just stared at me and waited for me to speak, versus offering a greeting. I understand that the staff is mostly young, but the face to the customer should always be smiling and welcoming. That said, they are polite, just a little aloof. Again, it's an age thing. read more

Came in for a lunch and it was my first time coming. My coworkers suggested a burrito, which was interesting since we are in a taco shack. Anyways, I got the Jack's burrito, which is made with pacific cod - as I am told by the cashier. I've had quite a bit of American-Mexican fare from my college years and in my opinion, I think the food was pretty poor. The burrito is of an adequate size. But the flavor and taste is very lacking. The entire burrito is pretty tasteless if you don't use their salsas from the salsa bar. Next, the tortilla is charred on both sides and the most unfortunate thing is that the inside of my burrito was actually burnt and not charred. It is a bit hard to see in my photo, but it was burnt on the inside. Luckily, still edible, just ate around it as much as possible. Interestingly, the burrito didn't come with a foil wrap when everyone else's did. Not sure if that is meant to be the case or not. Overall, I might come back to try their tacos on a special event night. But I don't recommend this location for good mex-American fare. read more

Pandemic has led to greedy behavior. One of the best things about snapper jacks has been their wonderful salsa bar specifically their quemada salsa is my favorite. My expectation when I eat my burrito is to have it with that salsa. I had understood that during the pandemic they wouldn't have their salsa bar out in the open which is understandable most other Mexican restaurants that I go to or other fast casuals such as sharky's do the same but will give you as many as you ask for. Snapper jacks during the pandemic switched its policy to three per order. This is annoying but I understand because the pandemic probably hurt traffic. However we're now reopening and traffic is visibly many times greater than it had been as I had visited it throughout the pandemic. I ordered like usual and asked for the salsa, when I went to pick it up they had only placed one in my bag even though they hadn't asked me about how much I wanted and I assumed they would go with their three policy. No big deal I just asked for two more That's when I was told that if I wanted two more because it hadn't been placed on the order which was done by the employee not me that I would have to pay extra money to get two tiny salsas I wasn't going to do that when they're normally free simply because of a error by their employee so I just walked away, but now that I'm eating it and I don't have enough salsa to eat my burrito the way that I'm used to from this location I'm rather annoyed and feel like it's a very greedy behavior to be charging per salsa I don't appreciate it and I don't think I'm going to continue to go to this restaurant if they continue this salsa policy. I've been coming here for a decade and I understand the times have been hard for small businesses but I found that policy to be very offensive especially since my experience eating their food is driven around their salsa which is my favorite part. I likely will no longer be recommending this place to friends and family and when they bring it up I will probably try to shift us to a different place to eat. Ps. We came for dinner, it is right off the 101 across from Camarillo HS. They have seating inside and out. I got the jacks combo with double beans, crispy tortillas and a steak and chicken taco. The crispy tortillas are amazing, they flake in your mouth and aren't super hard. There is a salsa and sauce bar after you order and the shack sauce is a must. Shack sauce is a chipotle ranch like sauce that is unreal, I even dip my chips in it. They now sell 12 and 24oz containers for the sauce. You walk up and order and the food tends to come out pretty quickly. We always stop here on our trips to Santa Barbara. We wish they had a location in Orange County and look forward to our next stop. read more
