Stopped in yesterday for a quick lunch and ordered: BRC Burrito $10.95. This was large and served with chips but tasted Meh. Almost entirely rice, some beans and very little cheese. Cheese Quesadilla $11.95. Served with Sour cream and guac. A bit on the small size for this price. They have a fantastic sauce bar with many varieties, plus lemons, cilantro and chopped onions. Place is keep clean, bathrooms were clean too. This would have been a 3.5-4 star, but the pettiness of the following lost a star for them: Instead of taking the onions from the sauce bar, I asked them to put them on the Quesadilla and was super surprised to see they charge me .50 as an 'add on'. read more

Nice menu, terrible service. I already felt that way before a recent incident. I guess their mantra is keep the salsa bar dirty and empty- I asked one of the kids that work the counter to swap out two salsa bowls that were empty. Then a manager overruled them! I would not have been able to get two containers of either so I argued with the manager and got a refund. That aristocracker mindset shows in staffing- complete lack of diversity with white kids and managers up front, and Latinos doing all the actual work. Tacos are pretty pricy in the start, but when you see them, you realize that the price worth the size. My tacos had plenty of cheese and meat, and you could pick any sauce you like at a salad bar. Surfer protein bowls are very balanced and tasty food. You get your carbs and protein and veggies, and you can also put any sauce on top of it to make it a bit more calorie but flavorful. Looking for a fast food dinner with patio seating. Snapper Jacks Taco Stand fit the bill. Order at the counter. As first timers here we needed some help in ordering. Scarlet, our order taker, was very patient and helpful. We went with the shrimp taco salad ($12+ $4.55) and Jack's Taco Combo ($13.55). The food came out pretty quickly. You get your own plastic ware, napkins, and beverages. We ate out on the patio. About 6 or so picnic tables off the parking lot. No street noise or smells so a nice area to grab a meal. The taco salad is a really big portion served in a fried taco shell with lettuce, tomato, lots of beans, cheese, sour cream, a big scoop of guac, and a generous portion of shrimp. Really good. Only gripe - a bit too much "secret sauce." I will go with sauce on the side and toss it myself when I come back. We chose one grilled fish taco and one steak taco in soft tacos for our combo dish. I found each of them a bit on the dry side and should have taken advantage of the toppings bar in the middle of the restaurant. Next time. Definitely will return. read more

Food - My wife and I have always felt the food at Snapper Jack's to be very delicious. Whether she gets the vegetarian burrito or I get the battered fish tacos, or I get a carne asada burrito and she gets the shrimp taco, everything we tried so far has been so good! And the icing on the cake is that they have excellant salsa bar. So many salsas to choose from it can get overwhelming for anyone. For me I get the jack's secret shack sauce. It's so good I put it on everything, you gotta try it. Service - Snapper Jack's is counter service which I always like. I've been here when they are super busy and when they are slow. How to make a stop here for dinner because everyone was telling me that this was one of the better places in Camarillo. Maybe I'm a little biased too Southern California Mexican food, but it is definitely different. Not saying that that is a bad thing but if you are expecting any kind of authentic style Mexican type food, this is not it. I will say the food here is good! Just don't expect it to be like a restaurant in Santa Ana if you know what I mean. Again, this is not a dig at the restaurant. The food here is really good! It's just a different style of Mexican than what I am used to having. Had both a burrito and a quesadilla. Meet with seasons really well and the guacamole was pretty good. Love the fact that I can have a cocktail with food I was eating. Folks behind the counter were pretty nice as well. I got off to an earlier start than I usually do on my Whittier-to-San Francisco trips, but that's mainly because I skipped breakfast. I wanted finally to try Snapper Jack's potato tacos, but I knew my stomach wouldn't make it grumbling all the way to Ventura, so I was prepared to settle for some bleh. Then I realized there are SJTS locations in Thousand Oaks and lovely, memory-ridden Camarillo. How could I honestly resist? I ordered two tacos, and when the friendly worker asked whether I wanted the tacos soft or crispy, I told him one of each. Crispy means something different to Snapper Jack's than it does to me, but I like their definition better. The taco shell was semi-fried, and it was perfect. I don't know whether the combo was worth it, but they do serve it to you in some straight-up '90s-throwback sectioned plates, so who am I to complain? Speaking of straight-up '90s throwbacks, I will complain about their use of Comic Sans on everything. Yes, I lived through the '90s, and yes, I love (and miss) a lot about the technology back then. But I don't miss that disgusting typeface, which I thought had finally died in the late 2000s, and I really just don't understand why places like Snapper Jack's use it for things they want to be legible, especially from any distance whatsoever. I can deal with Comic Sans on my cups because I honestly don't need to read my cups. But I do need to read the menu; I'm getting old! Everyone working here was friendly as can be, and they were doing a good job of cleaning while they had downtime. The restroom was also very clean. The patio is very comfortable. There are plenty of umbrellas to shade you from the sun, they have industrial-size picnic tables. No matter how many tots you bring along, you'll have plenty of room, and it's actually comfortable, which is unusual for a fast-food place. Oh, and you don't have to reenter the building to walk from the patio to the parking lot, so if you're still scared of COVID like me, you can spend that much less time indoors if you choose to. read more
