I am new in town and had not found my perfect Mexican cuisine. I had a craving for a tostada so I did a Yelp search and many choices came up. La Terraza was not the closest, but they had their menu available and the prices were reasonable so I drove over. It is a cute restaurant on the corner and parking was easy. The staff was friendly and I got a Carne asada tostada to go. When I got home it was still warm and I liked the simple presentation. The ingredients were fresh and the asada tender and delicious. I came here over the weekend and unfortunately, it was a pretty bad experience. This is a walk-up counter place that looks run down. The tables were dirty, so I had to wipe one down with my baby wipes before we sat. They brought us chips and salsa after we seated ourselves, but the salsa was bland and tasted store-bought. Nothing fresh or flavorful about it. I ordered a carnitas burrito. I was starving but only got through half because it just wasn't good. Dry, under-seasoned, and overall disappointing. My friend got a carne asada burrito and kept making weird faces while chewing. She said the meat was disgustingly tough and fatty. I tried a bite and had to spit it out because it was all fat and the texture felt off, maybe even undercooked. She ended up tossing most of her burrito and finished the second half of mine since hers was not edible. We both ordered large fountain drinks and the staff filled them to the top with ice. The total came to $38 for two burritos and two ice-heavy drinks. Plus the tip I threw in their jar before tasting the food. Big mistake! There are way better Mexican spots out there. Food is always great so I return all the time. However, I was working from home and decided to call in my order. Phone rang no answer, waited and called back. This happened two more times. Finally a young woman answered and was extremely rude. Sorry to bother you but I wanted to order. Then comes pick up time. She literally threw the bag onto the counter and quickly blurted out a total due. I have never experienced such bad service. Also, the restaurant was not busy so it's not like she had a crowd. 15 years of consistently good enchiladas and tacos later, in a town filled with Mexican food, this place remains our locally owned favorite for lunch. A nice sunny terrace on the corner of 10th and Main, we usually find street parking although there is a small parking lot under one of the town's many murals. Great spot for local Mexican food. Staff is friendly and quick to serve. Location is convenient and plenty of parking close by. Ample seating. The menu is good and varied. Even though it was a hot weekend with temps in the 100° plus range, people in the restaurant were all ordering different steaming plates of caldo. I assume mostly locals. Homey Mexican restaurant that's one step above a hole-in-the-wall so my mom would eat here, but authentic enough for my dad. Came here on a Saturday for lunch on a Friday and there wasn't a wait to order, although there were other parties who were there. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to you (sit anywhere you want). Bathrooms are available but you need to get the key from the counter. They do take credit card. The service was friendly and they'll give you chips and salsa for appetizers. She offered to give us more but we ordered some nachos and were good. The carne asada nachos were really good. Two or three people could easily split it, and there was a generous portion of meat. I liked how they smeared the regrows beans right next to the cheese on the chips so you can a good mix of soft and crunchy. The birria taco I had was also nice - smokey in flavor and well-seasoned. However there was a big chunk of gristle which was too chewy to eat, but that didn't detract too much from the portion size of the meat. Street parking is available in front of the restaurant and there's outdoor and indoor seating. Overall a good spot for a quick lunch of authentic Mexican food. read more

I will never return. Owner is an asswhole and doesn't care about keeping businesses. Telling customers they are wrong when he was in the wrong for the way he talks to people. Don't waste your time or money here because they will over charge you and charge you extra for everything. Make sure you check your Change and receipt. Make sure you check prices since they always change as well. You are better off going to La Casita or Taqueria Lago Azul good customer service and food is great La Terraza sucks even the girls there have horrible attitude just like the owner. While I can appreciate the use of fresh ingredients and staying open during these trying times, overall it was very bland and everything was severely lacking in salt and other seasonings. I ordered an asada torta with everything, and two beef taquitos a la carte. It all seemed to be cooked fresh, but the torta bread would be much better if it were buttered and toasted. There were two slices of tomato included, but only one was edible, as it still contained the large woody core which should have been removed.
