Layne came to our home and did an excellent job explaining the different rebate options, financing plans, and the entire insulation process. He made everything easy to understand and stress-free. Alexis and Tarik handled the actual work. They removed all of our old attic insulation, sealed any openings, and installed new insulation that helps repel mice and bugs. The next day, they returned to insulate the walls. They arrived on time, were respectful of our home and furnishings, and left everything clean when they were done. Great sales experience that went downhill fast. I was promised I had a easy job they could finish quickly. It took me continuous nagging even to get on their schedule weeks later, with poor communication all along the way. When work finally started, I don't know if it was misunderstanding, but the quality of the work was well below what was expected. I had to hire someone else to fix it. I didn't even get to the insulation part of the job, which I don't trust them to do anymore. I asked to cancel the rest of the work, and no one has even acknowledged my emails or phone calls yet. read more

They were informative and realistic about the condition of our roof, being honest about it's condition to wait another season. They did not push us. We have had the unfortunate need to replace roofs on two houses over the past ~15 years. Fortunately, Snap has been there for us. Not only does the finished roof look amazing but they were able to complete gutters/covers and even help with a flat rubber roof. Where Snap really shines though, is helping with initial evaluation. They flew our roof with a drone to make sure filing an insurance claim was even worthwhile. I hired Snap Construction for new siding, windows, doors, and roof. I got quotes from a few places and all quotes were similar, but what ultimately made me choose Snap was how quick to respond Matt, the contractor, was. Previous contractors I had worked with in the past sometimes took a week to respond and Matt always got back to me the same day. I changed siding products mid-project and he was able to accommodate. If I had any concerns with how a task was completed, he made sure someone came out and fixed it. There was an issue with window misplacement but that got resolved and there was only one guy on siding installation, but it's a small house and I wasn't in a hurry. Dan came out and climbed the roof to do a damage assessment from hail last fall. His assessment was...no problems found, even when I pointed out areas I wanted checked for mildew and ice backup damage due to winter storms. He was honest, laid back, no pressure. We discussed other areas that I eventually want to deal with...gable replacement and soffits. He told me about materials to use for those areas and the pros and cons of the materials. When I mentioned the need for a handyman for smaller projects, he gave me the name of a guy that SNAP has used and he personally has used. This was a very positive experience. This review is for work done on a house needing a new roof due to hail damage. We decided to dodge the usual "storm chasers" who swoop in to the neighborhoods and give the hard sell, and instead go for an estabilshed local company with a good reputation. Snap's reviews here and elsewhere are quite good. As far as I can tell the work was done well when completed. It did take several months, and the rep told us that the crews were all very busy due to the number of damaged homes. It was a little annoying that this was not made clear at the start, when it should have been clear to them that the project would take a while. Also, we had extra gutters installed, and when the subcontractors put them on the wrong side, they complained and told us "It would be fine." It was eventually fixed, but the hassle was awkward. My big complaint is that the communication only came through phone calls with the onsite rep. I attempted to call the office directly and email them with questions about billing and scheduling, but they never got back to me. The phone calls were riddled with "I'm not at my computer" and "I'll need to call the office about that." Twice they sent the paperwork to the house itself (it's a rental property) and not directly to me, the owner. In the end I think we would have done as well with the storm chasers. read more

Chris Telander was responsive and provided a quote quickly and professionally. When I accepted the job, he made the color selection process easy and was knowledgeable in design and materials. The crews came to the site and did great work! They were polite and tidy. When work was completed, they ensured the job site was clean then Chris came out to confirm all of the work was done. When I had issues with the release of escrow payments, Snap was understanding and worked with me while I worked with the lender to get the payments released. In July of 2017 we contacted Snap Construction for a proposal for our leaking flat roof at our business in South Minneapolis. Snap had stellar reviews online so hiring them was an easy decision. They advertise on AM 950 and we've had good luck with other contractors we found through AM 950. Snap proposed patching the roof. At that time Dan, the estimator, commented their roofer thought the rubber was in good shape so repairs by resealing the old seams by applying 9" seam tape over all the seams. The bid was $6,250 which seemed high to us. Dan defended the price saying the roll of seam tape that would cover and reseal the seams on the roof was expensive. The job started poorly, upon arrival the roofing crew's first question was, "What are we doing?". I should have known we were not on the same page at the start. When they completed the work I inspected the roof. The seam were not recovered as proposed instead they installed numerous five inch patches all over the seams. After we pointed out the discrepancy between the proposal, "install new 9" seam tape" and the installed five inch patches the roof still leaked continuously. FROM THE EXACT SAME PLACE as it did before they started. They came back a numerous times to reinspect, to add patches etc. Same results, the roof still leaked. It's worth noting a roofer contractor repeatedly returned to my property to inspect/repatch without a ladder. They showed up and asked me for a ladder. We run a tree service. That's like a member of my crew showing up asking to use a client's chain saw. Finally the issue of the poor quality workmanship and poor service was kicked up the chain of command at Snap Construction. Ryan, the owner, began our interchange by telling me I needed to be patient. I told him the story above, which he knew nothing about, and assured him we were nothing if not patient. He also claimed I was just trying to get by patching an old roof. From the start in all of our conversations with Snap this was the first time anyone mentioned us needing a new roof and Ryan had never seen the roof. We were told we were due a credit. Our roof no longer leaks because we had a different contractor replace the roof recently. read more

But when I asked to stop work until we could talk, something that could have been solved with 10 minute fate-to-face talk. It ended up with you completely abandoning my project and a 6 month nightmare of no upstairs bathroom, items scattered all about the house and trying to find a contractor willing to take over the mess you left. From the first meeting, Matt Thomes takes the burden off the homeowner and communicates directly with the insurance company to get the job done. He also gives you his personal cell number and responds quickly to questions and concerns. He and his team are punctual and efficient. Matt kept me up to speed on their schedule from start to finish. The project was pushed back a few times due to weather, but I was always informed of when to expect delivery of the materials and work on our house. I was having guests over to my house just as they were finishing up the project and Matt worked with me to make sure the project was finished and the materials picked up ahead of schedule to accommodate my guests. Working with Matt Thomes and Snap was a welcome reprieve from prior experiences with contractors that did subpar work and/or had very bad customer service. Had them seal penetrations and increase the R-value in the attic as recommended by the Energy Squad assessment. The crew was professional and did a great job adding more and evening out the blown insulation. Their estimator noted a bath vent that was not connected to the roof vent, and dumping humid air into the attic space; the crew did a nice job putting in new insulated vent tubes to connect it back up. They also did a great job of taping off the bedroom with the attic hatch, and making repairs to & insulation of the hatch door. Clean up was also well done. If you want top notch service and insulation work, I happily recommend them. read more

There are those things you never think about until they happen. One of those things is gutters for your garage. We just bought our house and everything about it was great. Then the winter came and we realized there were some small things that would make life here better. When the snow melted it would run off right on to the front drive. The problem then was when it froze there would be huge ice patches. That was a problem for us because we use the garage as our exit to take our dog for a walk. Trying to punch in the garage code or walk through the garage door without falling became a nightmare. After a lot of hemming and hawing we finally decided to put some gutters up. Gutters are not one of those things we felt comfortable doing ourselves (my dad did his own growing up and ended up somehow having them drain into his bedroom). We landed on Snap Construction because they were friendly, quoted us a good price, and they had a good timeline for us. Going into this project we knew the challenge was going to be that this was a small job, so finding a place that would treat us just as seriously as a large job was important to us. We got that with Snap Construction. They sent over someone to check out our gutters and talk price/timeline. He was very courteous and really took the time to understand what we wanted. Again we emphasized that there was no rush and that if larger jobs took priority over us that was ok. We were told that it would be taken care of quickly, and it was. The crew showed up while we were at work and I came home to some great new gutters. What really blew me away was how closely they matched the color. I honestly had to stop and check to see if they were up because they looked so much like the gutters the house already had. The only difference is that the old gutters are slightly more worn, otherwise the color matches almost perfectly! That was an unexpected plus. I'm looking forward to the next time it rains/freezes so I don't have to worry about skating down my driveway. 7/100 read more

Snap installed two large windows in our kitchen with good results. The work involved ordering the correct windows, cutting openings in our finished walls, installation and sealing. The job was significantly delayed by a long lead time at the window factory. Matt from Snap kept us informed on the delay. It was winter by the time the windows arrived, but the crew was able to keep disruption to our family to a minimum. When they opened the walls, they found electrical lines needed to be rerouted, and had an electrician come that day to get the work done with minimal delay to the project. This was a project that could have gone wrong in a variety of ways but they planned the details to ensure a quality result. read more

After getting a couple different estimates for our deck build this fall, Snap's estimate was right in the mix with the other local contractors we contacted. We decided to go with snap because they made the estimate process so easy and had outstanding communication unlike a few of the other contractors that seem to never answer their phone... We are absolutely ecstatic with the finished product of our new backyard deck, can't wait for next summer to be able to fully enjoy it. Only reason I gave these guys 4 stars is because we had a bit of a scheduling issue, which may have just been a miscommunication on both our parts but owner Ryan Nelson made things right! We will have these guys out again next spring to install new siding. I would highly recommend getting a bid from Snap if you have any home construction plans coming up! read more

The biggest issue I have with most contractors and others who do work at the house is communication and follow up. In this case, they responded to my initial inquiry within about an hour, and got to the house a day or two later when promised. They gave me a bid for a new roof that was close to what my insurance company had given me, and promised to work with them to cover the differential. They did and I hired them. They showed us samples, scheduled the job quickly, came out the day they promised, finished in the two days they promised, and cleaned up so it looked like nobody was ever there. When I had questions, Chris responded to my texts and emails within two hours each time, including nights and weekends. My only regret is that they cannot do everything else I need done around the house, like landscaping, handyman services, picking out furniture... But the roof looks great. read more

First and foremost we went with Snap because of the reviews on Angie's List - highly rated - which the only reviews were on roofs that had been completed. The roof crew was good, picked up after themselves, etc. The Snap Construction painting crew were clowns. Equipment breaking down, took more than four days to complete a small NE bungalow. The crew would show up and leave...never knew when they would be back. They kept indicating they were working on a "larger job" - our project cost $30,000 so I am not sure what they meant by that - I felt we weren't a priority. Also, I had to mark where I wanted them to go back over paint where they had missed, in fact the lead contractor asked me why I had left "blue tape" on the house...we told him to look closer so he could see what he'd missed. They started painting our trim and windows on our 90 year old bungalow and started painting all our windows shut - I spent 2 hours trying to undo what damage they had done. I told them to stop - all of our windows opened before they started and now they had painted 6 windows on the main floor of the house shut. Gutter and soffit crew were good - in fact extremely talented. Everything done by hand. Only complaint is we went out of town the day they were wrapping up and I found our garbage to be full of beer cans/bbq when we arrived home. I am guessing they had a party on our patio that evening. At least they cleaned up. Stone skirt - one guy did the job, turned out nice. Only problem is the truck driver who dropped off the stone drove up on our lawn after a rain and now we have two six inch giant tire marks going up our front lawn. Spoke to the general contractor regarding this and he said he would correct this and never has - I am guessing I will have to either fill in with soil and seed myself which will run probably $300 of my own money. The worst was when they started putting storm doors on our home - they didn't measure the doors correctly and the front storm door was six inches too short. Snap Construction had a solution to add a six inch board above the screen door to fill the gap. The best part about the front door not fitting was all our neighbors saw how stupid it looked on National Night Out - about 30 neighbors - so instead of getting the right size door they were just going to add a block of wood above it and paint it - DUMB - just dumb. At this point we were done with them and fired them. I would never use Snap Construction again nor would I recommend them to anyone. So, I am reluctantly sending off my final check we owe them to finally be done with them. Update as of 9/10/14 - Snap's owner contacted us directly to work through some of the issues we had, they seem very helpful to make things better. Update as of 10/9/14 Ryan the owner commented on my review. He comments on his team not having dinner/beer at our home on a weekend we were out of town. He believes this was our neighbors who left the garbage full of bottles and chicken bones but we have owned the home for 15 years and we know all of our neighbors well - our neighbors didn't have a party in our backyard his team did. read more
