On a ninety-degree day, we headed out to Elizabeth Park to walk among the roses and commune with Mother Nature.
And in a storyline as old as mankind, that hot weather brought with it a craving for something cold and refreshing, something like ice cream!
Lucky for us, Elizabeth Park is home to the Snack Shack. It's a take-out counter next to the Pond House Café and sells drinks, ice cream, hot dogs, chips, iced teas and iced coffee, etc.
We ordered a Creamsicle Float ($6.28) and an Oreo Cookie Razzle ($6.85) - their spin on a Blizzard.
My Float was so good - a whipped up whirled concoction of soft serve vanilla ice cream and orange soda. It sure reminded me of the Orange Creamsicles I used to buy from the Good Humor truck during my childhood in Bronx.
My wife's Razzle was disappointing because the portion was so small. Her glass was not close to being fully filled, and in fact looked pretty scrawny in comparison to mine. read more
