Cute little chocolate shop! Plenty of different chocolates and candies to pick from here. Staff was friendly. Prices were fair. Chocolate tasted good. My favorite was the dark chocolate caramels.

I have had tasty treats from Rosie's Royal Chocolates several times over the years, because she used to have pop up stores where I work. Until this holiday shopping season, I had never visited Rosie's Brick and Mortar in Southington's Factory Square though. Whether as a pop up or at Factory Square, there is no denying that Rosie makes and sells delicious stuff. The Factory Square store is very cool. Lots of variety and high quality stuff. One of Rosie's specialties is chocolate covered stuff. Pretzels. Potato chips. Graham crackers. Etc. I have a soft spot for such treats because my Aunt has made similar things my whole life. I recently bought Rosie's pretzels, potato chips, sweet coated peanuts, and Green Apple licorice for stocking stuffers. Every single one was delicious. There are other cool spots in Factory Square too. Baked goods, beer, coffee and dog treats. You can make a couple of hours of it. Five Stars

Very cool candy shop in a great industrial area in Southington! They have all types of chocolate covered treats from Oreos to Doritos to even slim Jims! I wasn't as adventurous this time but I did find my favorite sesame candy and got some chocolate covered pretzels to try. Love how organized everything was and how the prices were clearly labeled. Staff was friendly and can't wait to go back!

If you think your willpower is pretty good, here's an easy test to see just how tough you really are.  Just stroll into Southington's Factory Square building and navigate your way over to Rosie's Royal Chocolates. I triple dog dare you to walk out empty handed. We sure couldn't. Chocolate making has been a branch of owner Rosie's family tree for 54 years. She is a third generation chocolatier (now honestly, isn't that coolest word you've read today?) She makes her chocolates in small batches using high quality ingredients and "fair trade coco". And if you want to see some creative uses of chocolate, you will flip your cocoa beans at what Rose has cooked up for you. Chocolate covered pretzels, potato chips, S'mores, peanut butter cups with bacon, two kinds of Chocolate Covered Doritos, chocolate covered Twinkies, and be still my heart -a chocolate covered Slim Jim. We spied some enormous chocolate covered apples ($14.99) that were as big as grapefruits. We picked up one with toffee chips and can't wait to try it. By the way, I want to mention how gorgeous the store is - a wonderful combination of cotton candy pink and milk chocolate brown stripes with table after table and shelf after shelf filled to the brim with product. They really did a beautiful job designing the store. And I also want to give a shout ou to Rosie's husband who was on duty today. He was a super nice guy and we were so impressed at the way he engaged a young child in conversation about the store and its name. This is the kind of small family owned business you really feel good about supporting. And with the holidays coming up, you have every opportunity to do just that!

If you like chocolate this is one store you wouldn't wanna miss. Walking in you feel like you're in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Everything imaginable dipped in chocolate, boxed, and ready to go. A perfect place for gift giving.

peanut butter hot cocoa bombs!

WOW! What a treat that's come to Southington! We just couldn't ignore Rosie's as we walked to get our coffees at Perkatory. Of course we had to stop in! I was blown away by all the fun goodies they sell. They have anything and everything dipped in chocolate - doritos, potato chips, twinkies, cinnamon toast crunch, pretzels, beef jerky, sour patch kids...you name it! I was intrigued by the chocolate covered cool ranch doritos and I am never one to shy away from a weird food combo (hello peanut butter & bacon). Let me just say, this is a weird a** match made in heaven. They were incredible! I also had to pick up an infamous hot cocoa bomb. Rosie's was serving up peanut butter bombs which is the first time I've seen this combo. How has nobody else thought of this yet?! To add onto the already perfect visit to this wonderful chocolate shop, was Rosie. She is such a joy to talk to and you can tell this is her passion. It was so fun hearing what they experiment with, what her favorite chocolates are, and more. Next time we're in the area, we're absolutely going to stock up. There were a few chocolate covered oreos calling my name...

Current mood: Having a sweet day! The world is a brighter and happier place because of Rosie's. Located in a the super fun setting of Factory Square, this woman-owned business unknowingly crossed my path today and I was drawn in as I was walking by. I had no idea the smile it would bring walking in. Rosie's Royal Chocolates, what can I say? You have to experience this place for yourself. The smell of chocolate and popcorn alone will win your heart. The colors- pink and chocolate with swirls of colorful rainbow lollipops. Is it real? Is it a dream? Well...yes and yes. A dream come true more like it. It's the brilliant vision of the wonderful owner Rosie who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time today. She's a fan of Wonder Woman as you can see throughout the store and I even spotted some pieces from her grandmother's vintage milk glass collection in a sweet looking hutch- just like my grandmother had. IYKYK. I immediately felt a sense of home in her shop when I saw that. My grandmother's name was Rose as well. Another cool coincidence. Your heart's desire for chocolate will be fulfilled here. Chocolate covered apples, pretzel rods, potato chips, everything...and all the candy you can think of. I love the old school rock candy pops! Take a look at some of the awesome pictures I took today. You will spot something that interests you! Factory Square is definietly worth a visit. A) It's home to Rosie's Royal Chocolates. B) You need to meet Rosie. C) There are also so many fun things to do in Factory Square like Escape Rooms, Axe Throwing, Vintage Arcade Games and so many other fun treats. So happy I made a trip today. Big thanks to Rosie for being my surprise place that I stumbled upon today. You made my week! I love when you discover new places and can tell others to help them find their way there too. Valentine's Day approaches. Make the trip. It will be so worth it!

Rosie's Royal Chocolates is a craft chocolaterie that opened in Toms River, New Jersey in October 2017. It was founded by chocolatier Rosie O'Kinsky. O'Kinsky's great grandmother owned a candy shop for 54 years. She passed down some of those old candy recipes to Rosie, who uses nearly 70% cacao in her chocolate. She began making chocolates and fudge from scratch in early 2000 and sold them at corporate offices and festivals. By October 2017, she opened her own brick and mortar chocolatierie in Toms River, New Jersey where she lived. For several years, Rosie was selling several of her candy creations at major employers in Connecticut (where she used to live). Eventually she decided to relocate both her home and her business to Connecticut. Her new chocolatierie opened at Southington's Factory Square in February 2020. Rosie is now using an enrober, which is a machine that coats food in chocolate. She makes about 1,000 pieces of chocolate with the machine each week. I recently stopped at Rosie's for the first time while I was cycling by on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Factory Square is located conveniently alongside the trail. One thing I love about the building is that it's home to so many cool businesses: including Witchdoctor Brewing Company, GameCraft Arcade, Perkatory Coffee Roasters, Montana Nights Axe-Throwing, and Leaps & Bones. Rosie's had such a wide selection of chocolate creations, including chocolate covered potato chips, chocolate covered twinkies, and chocolate covered bacon. I decided to pick out some treats for my family. For my wife I picked out Dark Chocolate Covered Cool Ranch Doritos, for my son I picked out Chocolate Covered Pretzels, and for myself I picked out Dark Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans. Everyone was happy with what I picked; this is some seriously good chocolate! I look forward to returning!

Fascia's Chocolates is a family-owned chocolaterie that opened in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1964…read more It was founded by husband and wife John & Helen Fascia. An electronic technician by trade, John worked for the Bristol Company. He began to roast nuts and sold them at work to supplement the young family's income. In an effort to increase sales, he and Helen began making chocolates in their basement. In addition to chocolate nut clusters, they soon began to make caramels, toffee and creams. The chocolates became so popular that soon the Fascia's basement operation couldn't keep up with the supply and demand. By 1978, they opened their first retail store on Meriden Road. Two years later, John quit his job so he could make chocolate full time. John and & Helen were soon joined by their three young daughters Louise, Lynne and Laurie. In 1985, the business moved to an expanded storefront on Wolcott Street. As business continued to grow, the business would relocate to Lakewood Road in 1990, Thomaston Avenue in 2008, and finally to Chase River Road in 2013. The Fascia Family still runs the business, although John & Helen are now semi-retired. My family and I recently visited Fascia's Chocolates to attend a special "Chocolate Experience". We were escorted into a small room with other attending families. There we were greeted by Company President Carmen Romeo, who happens to be married to Louise Fascia. He quickly informed us, "I may be the President, but my wife and her sister are the real bosses." He gave us all a presentation where he discussed the history of the company as well as chocolate production in general. He gave all attendees samples of the three main types of chocolate (Dark, Milk & White) and discussed the differences. Afterwards, all children were able to make their own chocolate bar with their choice of toppings. My sons both picked rice cereal and Fruity Pebbles. We also got to take a look at what happens in the production area. After the experience, we all went into the retail shop and explored all of the delicious chocolates that Fascia's produces. While I distracted my sons, my wife discreetly purchased some chocolate coins for St. Patrick's Day and chocolate bunnies for Easter. We all had a great experience at Fascia's Chocolates and hope to enjoy their delicious chocolate again!

The staff brought us to the back room where they go over the history of Fascia's chocolates, the different types and percentages of chocolate as well as other delicacies they make in their stores. We were even able to watch them make other candies live while we made our own. We made a chocolate bar with melted chocolate, decorated it with our candy selection and were able to bring it home. Definitely worth the time and price to learn a little history and take home a sweet treat!

"Yes I got some candy kisses for your lips Yes I got some…read morehoney suckle chocolate dripping kisses full of love for you" (Stevie Wonder) I've had Thompson Chocolates bookmarked for a very long time. Why did it take us so long to visit? I suppose their limited hours (Tuesday to Friday) had a lot to do with it, but we did visit today and I'm very glad we did. Why? Well, here ya go... 1) Thompson Chocolates goes way back to 1879 and has been in Meriden since Day One. They are one of the first chocolate companies in America. 2) The store is gorgeous and beautifully organized with colorful displays of chocolate bars, pops, bark, gift boxes, chocolate coins and cigars, and jellybeans. 3) We met the owner Jackie, who was one of the very nicest, friendliest, and generous business owners we've ever seen. 4) We walked into a BOGO sale of leftover Easter candies and scored a nice bag of Dark Easter Eggs and an Easter Goodie Bag for zippo 5) Jackie was super generous and tossed four gift bags of assorted chocolate into our shopping bag as freebies. 6) You get a 10% discount with your Yelp check in. 7) They have a 10% Senior Citizen discount on Wednesday and a military discount every day. 8) They have a mail order business through an on-line store. 9) We paid under $22 for a box of dark chocolate raspberry jellies, two Easter Goodie Bags, two bags of Easter Dark Chocolate Eggs, and four small mesh gift bags of assorted chocolates. One was white chocolate which will be a perfect treat for my granddaughter who won't eat milk or dark chocolate. I sure hope that gives you an idea of how great our visit to Thompson was.
