    Dinner!

We were surprised to see Frisbies had taken the helm of the former Maple Hill Ice Cream. The ice cream thick and full flavors as before. Great outdoor picnic & bench seating under shade trees. Games and plenty of open space for the youth to burn off a suga buzz and reduce the RPM's. Seating indoor is limited and I was curious if the confections are still produced behind the counter. Next time, and there will be, I will inquire.

It was quiet and clean when we arrived around 3pm. The two girls behind the counter were helpful allowing us to sample a couple flavors. The ice cream is flavorful and creamy. The ice cream is shown to be homemade.the building used to be used for manufacturing but is no longer doing so. The outside is very old school office building looking but the inside is cute. We ate our ice cream outside at the picnic tables where the kids could be restless and run around. I highly recommend the raspberry cheesecake and peanut butter ice cream. They also serve 12 flavors on a frisbee which I would've ordered for fun if I had read the full menu.

Great ice cream. Best vanilla we've had in the area and nice to have open space for kids to run around in.

If it is still called Tower Ridge CC, it's in horrible shape at the moment... such a shame. But I hear there are new owners so let's plan to check back and give a progress report on the condition of the once breathtaking grounds. The ice cream here is from Vermont. It's delicious and *much* more reasonably priced right now, while they are hoping to become more well known (I don't know if there are plans to increase, so just be sure to go NOW & give them a try!). They have many clean outdoor tables with umbrellas and a Pavilion. Plenty of comfortable seating & shade. The ladies manning the "shop", which resembles a food truck, are extremely friendly and nice. They were also quick to offer samples. After trying it, we all settled on the Lemon Meringue Pie ice cream; mine on a cake cone and sprinkles. It was refreshing and delicious. High quality, premium ice cream, just as delicious as all of the homemade local ice cream stores in Simsbury.

"In the middle of the night Is that your heart you hear…read moreHave you reached your breaking point tonight?" {The Moody Blues) It's about the same size as your Cumberland Farms or Pride gas station/convenience stores but........it has ice cream! Let's start with the gas station aspect, and I have to admit it is sure nice to have another gas station option in Bloomfield. Break Point has 4 gas islands with two pumps on each island. Today, Regular gas was $3.199 for both cash and credit purchases. The gasoline area is kind of tight, especially when consumers park in front of the convenience store's side door, so be careful pulling up to, or leaving the pumps. Inside, the store is very neatly stocked, and the personnel were super friendly. We made a beeline to the ice cream counter and perused their 28 flavors of hard scooped ice cream. A small dish (4-ounce) was $5.25. If we had gone for a bigger portion, 6-ounce or 8-ounce would have cost $7.25 or $9.25. I decided on a small dish of their PB Chip Swirl, and my wife asked for some Coconut and Banana in her small dish. I'm not sure where their ice crem comes from, but it was excellent. The Peanut Butter, Coconut and Banana flavors really popped! Bloomfield Break Point has a pretty cool social media footprint and a wonderful logo consisting of a sunglasses-wearing hot dog holding an ice cream cone and a cup of coffee in its itty-bitty hot dog hands. Why does the logo feature a hot dog? Well, Bloomfield Break Point promises to have "café-style eats and signature hot dogs". They haven't been open long enough to get the hot dogs up and running, but it will be interesting to see what that future component looks like. We had a very positive visit today.

I always enjoy the blood orange chocolate chip and seeing what unique flavors are concocted (geranium, key lime cheesecake, pomegranate). It's pretty pricey for what you get (1 scoop, 1.5 scoops and onward) and my scoop today was rather small. They also sell pints for $8 which is a better deal. Samples are a must because of all the options. Disappointed that they don't make ice cream cakes anymore, especially because J Foster's just isn't as good. Located near the Coffee Spot, library and Fitzgeralds, it has parking around the back or on the street.

Place is on a road with lots of shopping options. Parked outside while the missus ordered dinner. Wait was going to be a little while, so I went inside to get an ice cream appetizer. They have lots of unique ice cream flavors, but opted for the boysenberry jasmine because it was the weirdest one that I thought she would enjoy. The ice cream was a little icy but the scoop was a good size and the boysenberry was not overly tart. It was like a nice light tea as an ice cream. Quite pleasant, The food was okay. I appreciate the crust on the grilled cheese, the dedication to using straight up American cheese, and the bread choice. They need. Mozzarella or provolone option so one can get those epic cheese pulls. Also they need to use a sharper cheese to increase that cheese flavor. The Asian tacos were very wet, chicken was not seasoned and the veggies were fresh but lacked seasoning. It was a fine taco, but no flavor. The veggie bahn mi, much more seasoning on the veggies here than the veggies in the taco. We took those veggies out of the bahn mi and subbed them into the Asian tacos to give it more flavor. That worked. The bread was this artisan roll with a crispy outside but soft inside. A better bahn mi than other places, but the bread needs to be more akin to a hoagie roll rather than an artisanal sandwich roll. As a food location, I put them on par with other ice cream shops that offer food. They usually don't do the food that great, but they excel at ice cream. They got lots of interesting ice cream flavors to try, and they are on par with pricing for the area. Come here for a sweet treat, probably ignore the food options, and enjoy!

They have some cute red and white lounge chairs in the front yard. Inside is so cute, with huge chalk walls of the menu and colorful pictures of people enjoying their product. There is a lot to choose from. It took me a minute to decide. I went with the Pumpkin Spice bowl, since it was heavily advertised and it's the season. The girl asked me what I'd like as a topping on my bowl for $1.00, from the very long list. I went with goji berries. As she made my bowl, I took pictures of the place. Unfortunately there is just one table to sit at inside. They have blankets to sit outside, and curl up with one if you'd like. This is such a nice touch. The bowl was just under $12. I took it to my car. It's the consistency of Greek yogurt, it had banana, cinnamon, whole milk, nutmeg and probably pumpkin purée mixed in the base. On top was the granola, goji berries and honey. This was perfect. The nutmeg and banana were the most prominent, it was just lightly sweet. The bowl looked small at first, but I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I'd leave it in my cold car, between running errands. I'm so glad I stopped by Rush Bowls. They make delicious bowls of so many different varieties.
