Went to get their beef skewers and their pork belly skewers today. One order comes with 10 skewers and they are of pretty decent size. I ordered ahead for pickup and it took about 20~ mins. I didn't mind the wait if that meant they were taking their time to properly cook it. (Rather than pre-cooking and heating). One thing I liked about the store inside was the panda painting they had!
Came here for take out. The skewers were the highlight of our order. It was nicely seasoned and tender. The chicken skewer was so addictive, the kids and adults finished those first and we all wished we ordered more. This a nice hang out place with friends, there are plenty of seats. Ordering over the phone was a breeze, but not sure what happened. At pick up time, the restaurant staff only gave me half. If I didn't double check, I would have been missing the 2nd half of my order. Besides that, the overall experience was good. Would totally come back for the food, especially the skewers.
Very affordable prices, many under $10. Come check it out. A small cute neighborhood place serving quick simple Hong Kong style food. Don't expect gourmet, just simple, affordable comforting and nothing complicated. Decor: so cute and lovely. Cute cat decorations everywhere. Super duper cute cat keychains and pins (all of which are for sale), decorate a large part of the cashier counter. A lovely purple alcove decorated with hanging purple lilacs and other flowers. In the other corner, comfortable and cozy with pillows decorating the bench seating. I'd recommend getting one of the combo sets, so you can try different dishes on the menu. Breakfast combo sets All day combo sets Lunch box combo set How it works: order and pay at the counter. Take a seat and server will bring your food to you when it's ready. Service is good. Didn't have a long wait for food to arrive. Tried the old school dish, preserved egg and pork congee. Nice and comforting on a chilly day. Tried the box lunch set of garlic shrimp, bacon Alfredo with spaghetti noodles. Comes with a cold jasmine tea. Light and refreshing. And a side salad of grape tomatoes and Romain lettuce. Noodles were good, but could have used a bit more sauce or cheese. Nice chunks of bacon flavored the dish well. Wonton soup. The additions of seaweed, baby shrimp and scallions made this soup, super flavorful!
Great Hong Kong snack spot so I don't have to go to flushing! A few gripes that the meat is not folded into the rice rolls (it's just put on top and there's lettuce on the bottom) and the fried dough stick is so small. But preserved egg and pork congee is very tasty and the rice rolls are super thin and fresh. Warmed my soul right up!
My kids really like this place because of the cute decor. You cant miss the storefront even though its located on a small street because of the painted decor. The owner is very sweet and nice. She gave out stickers and croc charms. You can order directly from the front or order from the kiosk. It's recommended to order from the kiosk as there are pictures of the food. I came twice during lunch time. First time I ordered the spicy noodle soup set and a wonton noodles soup. The set is nice as it comes with a drink and salad, but I didn't like the spicy noodle soup. The wonton noodles weren't good either. It's basically small flat dumplings with instant noodles. The second time we came, kids ordered shaved ice and a dessert. That was much better than their regular cooked foods, but the ice for the shaved ice was so rough and hard. Otherwise kids enjoyed it. I have never tried their breakfast items, but it looks promising as most of the rave reviews are for breakfast.
It smells very heavily of fried dough and grease inside and is too overpowering to sit outside. They do have seating outside though. The mango shaved ice was disappointing because the ice was very hard and not soft/fine. The mango was also very sour. I wish they asked us for sugar lev and ice level customizations for the milk teas. The taro was good but a little too sweet and the Thai was not sweet enough. The Thai flavor was also not there. The one redeeming thing is the taro flavor was good, and you get a free topping in your tea. We bought a Groupon but they still asked us to pay for tax on top of it. I unfortunately would not come back.
Snack Mood is a really cute little restaurant. There's a kiosk (with pictures) by the door for easy ordering. You can also order at the counter. The decor is fun, bright, cheerful and welcoming. There's about 8 small tables if you want to dine in. Here's what we got: - Breakfast Combo - Set E. It included small rice rolls with fish balls, 3x soup dumplings and a drink for $8.50. It was filling enough for me, tasty and worth the price. - Large minced pork rice roll. It was very tasty. It was a little better than the fish balls rice rolls - A small (3x) order of the pork belly skewers. They were seasoned well and not overly fatty. - The chicken wings were okay. 6 pieces for $11. They were crispy but not very special or unique. - We were able to get a classic bubble tea on the house after spending $30. It was darker in color than I normally see for bubble tea, so I was skeptical. But it was actually really good. The tapioca was the perfect consistency and the tea was flavorful. Snack Mood is a solid place for small bites and drinks. We'll be back!
Cozy snack shack serving grilled skewers, HK Cafe food and other quick fire entrees. Think rice noodles, fish balls, rice plates and bubble tea. It's a great little pit stop for a quick lunch which is exactly what I did on my first visit. Fellow Yelper Anna H. popped my cherry in bringing me here - first time visit and first time eating with her this year! We decided to try this place because our buddy Yelper TC had recently reviewed it. I trust his taste. The space is limited in seating but they do make a great use of the space. There's a long banquette/bench style seating, smaller bistro sized tables meant for two, and a few stools. Surprisingly fits a decent amount of people. Fun fact, you can order food on an electronic kiosk or at the counter via a staff member. There are paper menus as well but if you want to see photos, try the kiosk. I noticed a cute counter full of mini plushies, keychains and various knick knacks for sale. I was oogling things while waiting to pay. I resisted but believe me, one of those Kawaii items were priced so well, I almost succumbed to the temptation. I do plan on returning to try more menu items but I totally recommend the skewers. However, please note, you can order larger quantities to share but you can't mix and match the proteins. So if you order chicken per say, then that's it. You cannot ask for half chicken and half something else. So that's a bummer. I also want to try their specialty drinks so I shall return.
I love the skewers here! Come here for the skewers!! I was glad I came by Snack Mood! A small spot with a lot of bang in their flavor! It is small, yet very welcoming with a clean nice interior. I decided to try many things here, and the star of the show were definitely their skewers! I decided to try their Squid, Chicken, and Beef skewers. I really enjoyed the flavor of these and it definitely tastes pretty traditional and authentic. I feel you get great value here getting these. Additionally, I was able to try a bunch of the lunch sets, which included the Baked Pork Chop with Tomato Sauce, Garlic Shrimp Bacon Alfredo, and the Black Pepper Beef. My favorite out of them was the Baked Pork Chop. The sauce in general on the lunch specials seemed light, so if that is your style, you shall enjoy these dishes! As I mentioned, the skewers were the star of the show here, and I shall be coming back for them again!
TLDR: Snack Mood is a solid HKish cafe off of Franny Lew by Gyro Corner. Skewers seem to be the jam but I'm a big fan of the breakfast sets. I'm not sure how or why I started coming here but it started with their lunch set. The black pepper beef was diced up nicely, rich and peppery but not overly cornstarchy. The mushrooms was a nice touch. I also tried the rice rolls and everything was good enough that I thought I'll come back one day. Since then I've tried most of the breakfast combos. There's the congee and cruller, rice rolls with fish balls and soup dumplings but my personal favorite? Wonton soup and stir-fried noodles. It's simple but it's not common to see on menus (usually it's paired with congee) and it's tasty. The wonton soup has the dried baby shrimp in it, a nice sheen of sesame oil and super thin wrappers. Don't sleep on the sticky rice either. I've not been back to lunch yet but definitely will. If you're looking for a full on meal OR a quick bite - Snack Mood is great. I love places where you can decide how little or how much you want to eat. Check it out!
It was about a 15-minute walk from my house to Snack Mood. The weather was in the high 70s today. The ambiance was perfect for brunch, lunch, and dinner dates. First, you need to order and pay for your food. Second, you can grab an empty table. One of the employees will bring out your food. Breakfast Combo (weekday 7 am - 11 am & weekend 7 am - 12 pm) Soybean Milk (cold) - yummy Set D (Soy Sauce Fried Noodle + Wonton Soup) - The soy sauce fried noodle was yummy with chives and mung bean sprouts. The wontons topped with seaweed, dried shrimp, and scallion were yummy. The soup was bland. Fried Cruller (油条) - My mom asked me to buy one for her. Bookmark this spot to try!

My buddy Melissa turned me on to this place, thank you Melissa! Snack mood offers a variety of Hong Kong style inspired dishes for breakfast and lunch. It feeds on the same menu that many Hong kong style cafes are offering. They offer Set combo breakfast and lunch sets, meat skewers, sandwiches, bubble teas, shaved ice, etc. Snack mood does not overdo it when it comes to the menu. It offers a decent selection without you feeling overwhelmed by overloading you with too many choices. Ordering food should be fun, not a chore. Food - 4/5 - We ordered the breakfast combos. Sets B, D and F - I'm not going to go through the nuances of every meal. Everything was fresh, hot and more importantly tasty! The breakfast combos are a smidgen more pricey compared to other Cafes offering similar if not identical items. They do offer fresh fruit and wontons in some of the breakfast combos, other restaurants do not offer this. Service - 5/5 - Great customer service, food packed well on takeout orders. Interior - 5 /5 Clean and comfortable seating, but limited tables. Exterior - 5/5 Well maintained and a few tables to dine outdoors Recommendations: 1. On takeout orders involving soup noodles - Separate the soup and noodles in individual containters. Many restaurants offer this as an extra charge since the noodles will absorb and swell too quickly and lose that al dente profile when combined. 2. Combo breakfast set B served with only 1 egg. Similar restaurants serve this breakfast with 2 eggs. Consider addding an extra egg? Just a thought, charge extra if you have to. I'm looking forward to try the lunch menu. there is easy parking in the residential area and meter parking is plentiful, just make sure to feed the meters and for gods sake do not park in the strip mall across the street to eat here or pick up your order. They will tow your car. Snack Mood is a breath of fresh air in the area and the owner and proprieter May is Awesome! The menu is simple, the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable and you'll definently find something to satisfy the sweet and savory side of your palette. Milk tea and skewers taste good. Chicken isn't the best option but beef and lamb are good. Fishball skewers are nice too. Decor is clearly for photo ops. Service is quick and efficient. You can use a machine or a person so that's great.
This is a Cute place to grab a quick snack or drink. Not a ton of indoor seating, long benches against the wall, and seven small tables with stools in front of them. Order up at the kiosk, they accept card and cash. Two large TV screens show the news. Their skewers have a slight peppery kick to them, so if you are averse to spicy, the skewers may not be for you. They are grilled fresh and cooked well. Their teas are pretty normal, some of the flavored ones are powdered mixes or syrups, but for their hot and iced tea they do fresh brew it . They also have hot coffees and espressos. They have cute keychain and pins for sale. If you are in a science or healthcare related field, or majoring in sciences, don't sleep on the enamel pins. Would recommend for their well priced sets and specials - before 11am, you can get a breakfast set or you can opt for the All Day Sets which are more heavy in terms of portion size. We got two All Day Sets - which includes your choice of meal with a side salad and refreshing lightly sweetened Jasmine Green Tea. The beef was very well seasoned and flavorful, and the soy sauce noodles were also very savory with a nice crunch from the bean sprouts. They definitely don't skimp out on the carbs so expect leftover rice or noodles. We also got the steamed rice roll with shrimp which was also a very large portion, so we got full pretty quickly. It seems like they are known for their skewers and rice rolls so definitely check those out or their bigger meals/sets! read more

Cute little cafe but unpleasant tasting food. Portions were small for the prices you're paying for. AVOID ! Husband & I both had dinner then diarrhea right after. We only took a couple bites of the food and immediately started feeling stomach pain. Better off going to any of the restaurants on the Blvd. read more

Super fun spot for skewers, they also have wonton soup, bubble teas, shaved ice treats. It's a small shop with an artful mural out front and limited seating inside. They also have some fun pins for sale , things like "be the person your dog thinks you are" and lots of cute cat pins. read more

Even though the atmosphere is not quite perfect, but it's still a good restaurant to hang out with friends. I think this is a really special restaurant in Bayside because beside does not have any Cantonese snack places. Overall, most of the food taste good except for the pistachio cheesecake, it just taste chemicals. Besides, I'm really satisfied with the service here. The girl who serve me was really patient, she's willing to explain to me how to price go and how the combo goes. read more
Went here three times so far to order Togo, and each time they've messed up my food order. I didn't want to hold them to it the first time, so I gave them a second chance... third time they were conveniently en route to my errands, so I opted to give them another chance. All three times I get a completely different meal from what I ordered... my fault for not double checking them as I rush out and realize after that it's the wrong order. I settled and ate it anyway... it's over salted and drenched in sauce! Bummer. It might be easy to miss because it's a small place around the corner from the main drag of restaurants on Frances Lewis Blvd, but it is very colorfully painted on the outside. The first time we came here during the summer, we made the mistake of coming in the evening and they only served drinks until closing at 7:00PM . Breakfast is served from 9AM-10:30AM and lunch from 10:30AM-3:00PM. I was bummed and left wondering why they don't serve into the evening hours. Ever determined, I was going to try their food when the next opportunity came up. A couple of days before Thanksgiving, I had some free time for lunch and dragged my son out. They are a small operation and very busy from opening through the mealtimes, so I can't blame them for not serving into the evening. I'd be exhausted too. They do have an expansive menu for a small café. In the morning are the various Breakfast sets, which come with a hot drink. For lunch there are a variety of rice and noodle sets, fried chicken (popcorn, wings & fries), congee, steamed rice rolls and BBQ meat skewers. All these can be ordered and paid for at the kiosk when you walk in. There were already 3 people ordering ahead of us when we got there with 2 tables waiting for their food, so we waited a good 40+ minutes for ours. May, the owner behind the counter apologized for the long wait and even upgraded our tea drinks to large. Our Lunch sets came in small aluminum containers, but they were packed. My son's Spicy Pork Belly Rice wasn't very spicy, but had a lot of meat. My Garlic Shrimp & Bacon Alfredo was also packed tight and very flavorful. Both came with a small side salad and small Jasmine tea to complete the set. To supplement, we also ordered small lamb and fish tofu skewers and bubble teas, which we sat to eat at one of 8 small round tables. All this ran us over the $45 limited bonus offer, so we also qualified for a free order of Popcorn Chicken, which we took home. When we got home, she had also packed a slice of cheesecake, which was a very nice surprise. I think I'm going to stop in for a breakfast set tomorrow! Snack Mood is a cute cafe in Bayside, Queens. Perfect spot of a group hang out or quick meal. We tried a few items off their menu - our favorite item was the Shrimp Carbonara! read more

My go to breakfast and lunch spot. My daughter is obsessed with the vegetable congee. The only time I can get her to eat vegetables. I love their all day lunch menu -- I've tried their sweet pork belly , spicy pork belly and pork and tomato over rice. It comes with an iced green tea and salad. Great portions for the price. I always receive great service from everyone there. Super friendly and will always give the right recommendations. The vibe is also super cute and Instagram friendly. Highly recommend read more
what we ordered: chicken skewers (3) $6 pork belly skewers (3) $6 shrimp rice noodles $9 taro shaved ice $8/$14 . the spot for everything you could ever ask for. they offer savory and sweet items on their menu that can range from a quick snack to a whole meal. nothing disappoints from here. the rice noodles had a great soft silky texture and tasted so comforting. skewers had that little kick of spice which i love- pork belly was my favorite. you have to get the taro shaved ice- this spot does the flavor so right!! i most definitely will check it out again so i could try their other menu items! read more

Love HK style cafes (茶餐廳) and want more of them to succeed. Ordered two breakfast items: set B and set D for takeout. Food. Pretty good! Set B's instant noodles were springy, with savory fried egg and nicely fried spam. Spam wasn't overly salty either so that was a big plus for me. The soup was rich and had umami. There was also a side of buttered soft toast came with the instant soup noodles, but it wasnt very memorable. Meal came with a drink, so I took a hot milk tea with it. Milk tea was ok Light on sugar and milk. Worth mentioning is that they place paper covers over the drinks and then plastic lids over them to prevent spillage. Very thoughtful. Set D's stir fried noodles combined good soy sauce flavor that didn't over power, buy accompanined the green onions or bean sprouts in the dish very well. The seaweed wonton soup had good amount of wonton to soup ratio. Soup also had tiny dried shrimps to enhance the flavor. Overall, the less heavy wonton soup was a good accompaniment with the more salty stir fried noodles. Meal also came with a drink. Took a soy milk for this one. Drink was ok. Somewhat light on the soy flavor. Service: good and friendly service. You can order your meal on a nearby tablet or with the cashiers/servers. If you choose to sit, the order takers will bring your meal to your table. Meal is paid for when ordered so I don't suspect tipping is required. Ordered the meal on a relatively not so busy weekend around 1048am. My two order breakfast sets took exactly 20 min to come out. A tad slown considering it didnt look like there was that many orderes at the time. Call and order ahead of time. Went back to get my dog out of the car for a quick walk around the street and the girl who took my order was nice enough to bring my order out to me. Ambiance: they put some heavy into making the place look nice and cozy. It felt welcoming inside and the color coordination of the cafe was good. Nice place definitely to sit down and have a quiet conversation with friends and family during your meal. Seating is not that spacious though, so I won't recommend party sizes of more than 3-4 people. Would recommend these kind of restaurants all day long. If prices here were a little lower, would be 5 star. read more

Good small place to eat brunch or breakfast. Came here multiple occasions and it's usually empty ( other than around3-4 when students get out of school) food is good and always comes out pretty. Pretty affordable, I really like the breakfast selections but I'm not early enough to catch it. Very nostalgic. Has a kiosk that you can order from too but paying with cash is cheaper I like their jasmine tea and soy milk. And the lady working there is very nice read more
A cute snack shop located right off of Francis Lewis Blvd and 33rd Street. It's conveniently located next to the Q28 and 76 bus as well. There's a pretty large variety of foods and drinks- my favorite being the cold Jasmine Iced Tea. It was perfectly sweet but not outrageously so. The employees are all very sweet. The shop itself is clean and has plenty of seating. There's also a self order kiosk, and they accept cash and card. They also different skewers and rice rolls. This is a wonderful shop for a quick lunch and chat. read more

I was excited to finally try this new casual Cantonese breakfast / bubble tea cafe. We arrived on a Saturday for their breakfast combos and ordered the combos with preserved egg congee, fried crueller, steamed rice roll and shrimp dumplings. We also ordered the lotus leaf sticky rice and soup dumplings. The combos also came with a drink but it was an additional $1 for the cold option. I thought all the food was pretty solid for a quick snack but they didn't seem handmade. The decor was very bright and picturesque with cute cat themed pictures. I don't think I will be returning since I know yummy noodle house is a few blocks away with alot more options. read more

The interior looked great. A small shop but had a decent number of seating inside with a grass wall for photos. We went for the shaved ice only. The strawberry was by far the better one out of the three we got. The watermelon and green tea ones lacked in the variety of toppings. A lot of tapioca. The ice itself is on the chunkier/crunchier side which I personally wasn't a fan of. The bottom ended up being a large compact piece of ice that I couldn't break apart. Also had a whole ice cube that wasn't shaved down. You order through a kiosk so that's convenient. Can see the photos of the food you're choosing. Didn't wait too long for the desserts to be ready. Would go back to try the food but not the shaved ice. read more
