I usually get satay beef in vermicelli or instant noodles for breakfast here. Just regular HK Cafe food really. What makes them special is their milk tea. They have their milk tea in a to-go cup and set in a bowl of ice to keep it chilled without watering down the drink. I think there's a bit too much sugar and milk in there but it tastes good and it's nice not to have to rush to drink it because I'm exactly the type of person who ends up with half a milk tea layered with water from melted ice. They have Tai Hing franchises all over HK so I'm guess it's fairly popular a place. We usually just go for breakfast or lunch. Not a bad value!

This was the third and final stop of our Sham Shui Po breakfast adventure and I was hoping we'd finish on a bang. Since our party was small enough, we were seated with another couple and shared the table. The menus didn't have English and we ended up using Google Translate a lot but I'm reading reviewers saying that there are English menus so make sure to ask for them! Of course, we ordered the beef and scrambled egg sandwich to share and added on a french toast. We also ordered some HK style milk tea, which is mixed with coffee. It's not specifically mentioned on the menu but if you order cold, it'll come sweetened and hot is unsweetened. Overall, the meal was just alright. The beef and egg sandwiches didn't have much of a flavor and I thought the ground beef was a little dry. The french toast, however, was excellent. Moist, slightly crunchy on the outside, and stuffed with some peanut butter. I'd come back to try something else on the menu but I wouldn't really recommend the sandwiches.

There was beef bits in the sandwich, which they replaced for us. The 2nd one had beef chunks in there. When we told the waiter, he said it is what it is they don't care. So when I told them to take it off the bill since it was not edible for the vegetarian and we didn't eat it that's when the bad attitude really came. And their "famous" beef sandwich really wasn't good either. A complete waste of time in my opinion. The internet hype is a big lie.

Aside from the French toast, they also serve your typical dishes such as rice noodles or satay instant noodles. Those other dishes however are just alright. Wash down your toast with some decent milk tea and you won't be disappointed for a Hong Kong food experience. Do note that there is another fishball noodle restaurant all the way in the back behind this place. I was told that the silver tables are for the French toast. The chili oil of the beef cubes gives a spicy kick and pairs well with the sesame oil soup. They also offer a variety of classic HK cafe food toppings. The popular options include marinated pork chop, soy sauce wing, corned beef and red sausage. ＊Butter Toast with Evaporated Milk 奶油麥多 My favorite breakfast item. The toast is thickly cut and fluffy. They toast both sides of the bread, generously spread some butter, then drizzle evaporated milk over it. Very crispy and sweet snack to kick start your morning. ＊HK Style Milk Tea 港式奶茶 Their hk style milk tea used to be top notch. Unfortunately the quality was disappointing this time. Sadly, the number of dai pai dong has declined over the years as licenses for them are no longer issued, but Sing Heung Yuen is one of the few remaining ones. I came to Sing Heung Yuen for lunch with my friend. There was a line, but it moved relatively quickly. I ordered a Hong Kong-style milk tea and a tomato noodle soup with sausage, luncheon meat, and egg. I was told by a few people that the soup is best with macaroni noodle, but I prefer instant noodle, so I got that instead. The food hit the spot. It was simple, delicious, and super filling. I was told by some local ladies that the toast is a must-try, but I was way too full, so I skipped it. Aside from being a unique experience, Sing Heung Yuen offers a quick and affordable meal to tourists and locals. Avoid though if you are not a fan of tomato soup or toast since the menu is as limited as the space.

The soup is on the sour side and I would have liked it to be a little more savory and hearty. The macaroni was a little overcooked but that's basically Hong Kong cafe style. It came with 2 half pieces of spam, one of it was overcooked and dry, the other one seemed undercooked. The beef was decent texture wise but it didn't have much flavor. We also ordered their toast with condensed milk and the toast was over toasted and too crunchy to my liking. Overall, it's an unique experience but don't be expect the food to be superb. You also won't get over the top service but everyone was very courteous and friendly.

We had a bit of difficulty finding Wai Kee at first as the address was vague. We later found that there are 3 shops all along the same side of the street, all with people lined up outside - this was around 4pm! As my friend and I don't eat pork liver, we just opted for the regular beef noodles. It came out nice and piping hot - a definite good sign. The broth was tasty with the cooked beef, perfect for the winter cold. But I wasn't a big fan of the instant ramen noodles used, although typical of a local cha chaan teng. We also ordered the kaya toast which was absolutely delicious! It's essentially fried thick French toast with kaya (coconut jam) slathered in between. The woman sitting across from us (note: you WILL have to share tables), ordered her own after seeing ours, and had hers topped with condensed milk! People in HK like their food sweet, haha! Definitely worth the try if you're in the area, especially for the kaya toast!

Would recommend, but don't expect great service here...or in HK for that matter. ATMOSPHERE (5/5) While I could look this up, I believe this is a licensed theme restaurant as evidenced from the cute, cartoon like atmosphere TeaWood restaurant. The place is adorned with cartoon characters in a woody setting. It's very well done and hat's off to the people who put this together. FOOD (5/5) Wife says this is a Taiwanese character that serves Taiwanese meals and maybe because of this, we were very happy with our meal---mostly because we had a really crappy time getting to our AirBnB and the general attitude of people who we encountered along the way (unhelpful and rude). I ordered a tripe based soup with noodles in a beef broth and it was a 5/5 for me. The broth was very clean, not oily. Noodles were perfectly good. Tripe was not over or undercooked. Vegetables still had a bit of snap to it. Really happy with my meal. My wife ordered a red bean dessert that I took a few bites as well. One of the things I liked about that was how perfectly cooked the mochi balls were. All around delicious. SERVICE (2/5) Perhaps this is a cultural thing, so HK people don't beat up on me too harshly for saying this: but even in a more pricier corporate type of restaurant like this, the service is not friendly was not friendly here and especially at smaller mom and pop shops ***anywhere*** we went in HK. Any time we asked a question, there was this sort of disbelief or umbrage that we would ask a question about what was in a dish, what a certain type of ingredient was, etc. RETURN VISIT?
