Very hidden restaurant that I would've never thought existed if it wasn't for my cousin. She told me that there was a restaurant near her house but warned me that the lines are always long. When you arrive, make sure you grab a number from the lady up front and also a menu so you know what to order before they sit you down. Your entire party needs to be present by the time they ask for your order so make sure everyone is there and not wandering around the neighborhood. Once we sat down, we still had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our food to come out of the kitchen. I only ordered their signature pineapple bread with a fried egg, butter and tomato on the inside. I've never had anything like it back in Los Angeles with all the HK restaurants we have out here so it's nice to try something new and authentic. The egg was runny and leaking all over, I'd consider it egg porn. My cousin ordered the pork chop macaroni soup and I have it admit, the pork chop was extremely soft and juicy. I'd definitely come back and try the rest of the menu because I did not have enough room to try anything else on their menu.

So delicious!!! Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try! It's kind of hidden inside the streets so we had to ask around when driving around. We got their around 1ish and waited in line for a little bit, got seated and that's when I realized they had different seating times and we so happen to arrive there on time for their afternoon seating! Lucky us! We ordered the two bowls of tomato broths, one with macaronis and the other with regular ramen noodles and also a pineapple bun with egg and tomato. I loved everything, especially their tomato broth because you could taste that it was made in-house with real tomatoes. I also really enjoyed their iced milk tea! I can't wait to come back next time I'm in HK!

Their milk tea was smooth and tasty.

First and foremost, I had to try three times before I could actually eat there. The first time, I got there at 2:30 and the guy said they already ran out of spots for the rest of the day. The second time I went, I went on a Sunday and when I got there, discovered that they're closed on Sundays -__- They say third times the charm right? So I gave it another shot. We got there just before noon and they guy said they were already out of seats for their morning seating, but we could come back at around 1:30 to try for the afternoon seating that starts at 2:00pm. We accepted the situation and decided to go walk around the Ping Shan village while we waited. We finished roaming at 12:45 and the returned to 華嫂冰室 to check out the situation. The guy asked us what we were waiting for and we told him that he told us to come back for the 2:00pm. He seemed surprised that we actually decided to wait so he rewarded us by seating us then and there! Woot! Because we were seated right before their lunch break, we had to order everything that we wanted at one time. So we got their signature pineapple bun with fried eggs and tomatoes, hot dog bun with corned beef, egg and cheese, macaroni noodles with beef in tomato soup, and instant noodle with fish cakes in preserved egg and cilantro soup. Their signature pineapple bun with egg and tomato definitely lived up to the hype. The crust was crispy and thin. The bottom was fluffy and airy. The yolk of the fried egg was just barely cooked so it wasn't completely solid yet. The combination of the sweet from the pineapple bun was a nice contrast with the savory of the egg and tomato. The cheese in the hot dog bun was sharp and went well with the corned beef and egg. The tomato soup base was really strong. It was almost as if I was just eating tomatoes. I'm not complaining though because it's very flavorful. The preserved egg and cilantro soup base was also amazing. I loved that they actually gave you a whole preserved egg. Overall, everything that we had here was fantastic. Would I come and wait again? Maybe not, but I'm glad I got to try the food here.

The food is good. I went there with my Japanese friend. She said the Milk tea is the best that she drank. I love a pineapple bun. It has cheese , egg and tomato. And the owner was nice, she taught us how to eat the food.

Pineapple bun burger and milk tea

Hidden gem tucked away behind a huge car park in a village house compound. Despite the long queue of pilgrims, the food here is excellent - please try their tomato based noodle soup, pineapple bun burger and of coz the Hong Kong style milk tea.

The restaurant is round in an inconspicuous corner of Yuen Long, this place is spread over several floors on an old building and at times it does feel quite claustrophobic. Be prepared to stamp up a couple of flights of stairs as the lift never arrives for some reason. Once inside you will notice that its old- I don't know when the last renovation was but it is clear that nothing has been done to it for a while. Perhaps that's some of its charm. On sitting down, you will be handed a menu with some daily specials. Unless you were feeling especially adventurous or you have particular in mind, you will notice that most people seem to order the same dishes here (outside of dim sum hours I mean). The five flavor chicken, the friend eggs with fish innards and the lard with rice are the staples at this restaurant. Most people will understand what the first two are, the first being a chicken marinated with a special sauce (nice), the second being just scrambled eggs with some goo-ey bits in(not for everyone). The last one is actually quite simple- it is lard (in an oil form that comes in a bottle), some soy sauce (you can put however much you like) mixed with plain rice. I don't need to tell you that its cardiac arrest inducing but my god, its so nice that I want one right now. Go try if you have time. You won't miss anything if you miss it as the choices aren't actually that many.

One of my favorite Hong Kong cafes with delicious food. The best part is they open super early and…read moreonly close in the wee hours of morning! This location has a little bakery on the outside that sells egg tarts and typical bakery food. On weekend mornings, you'll see a long line at the bakery section because the pastries taste great and are really affordable - hk$7 for a pineapple bun and hk$10 for a pineapple bun with a slab of butter, which is a hk staple. They also sell Mexican custard buns, which I realized are really popular at these chain hk cafes, but I've never tried them. I did try the egg tarts here for just hk$6. They're so good! Flaky just the way I like it, but not as sweet as nyc egg tarts. Mind you, these bakery items are available not only as to go orders but to stay orders. They make great breakfast food or even an afternoon snack. The first time I ate here was for breakfast and I ordered one of those set meals. I got the beef with pasta in tomato soup. The set included a hot drink and two buns with egg and ham. The meal wasn't that memorable but I came back for dinner cause the food pics looked so good. I love hk baked minced beef over rice/spaghetti, and the ones here are unbelievably good. I love how perfect the egg they add on top looks and it's runny! I'm not a big eater but I'm usually able to finish the whole dish because that's just how tasty it is. I've also had their soup noodles here before and the portion is huge. Honestly, you won't regret coming here. There's a wide range of items on the menu to suit everyone's tastes and budget.
