As always, Tsui Wah features a trendy styling, through bright colours in their restaurants and very well garnished drinks and dishes, but it stays true to its Hong Kong identity every step of the way. Sure, this place is much pricier than the average 茶餐廳, but it's a restaurant that you can definitely put your trust in. It's very tourist friendly, considering how their menus are in both Chinese and English, waiters are much more patient and willing to communicate with you in a language other than Cantonese. They also pretty much cover all the key dishes you need to try in Hong Kong, so if you're short on time, you can always just randomly pick an item off the menu and you're pretty much good to go. Their Hong Kong style milk tea is quite nice, but feel free to try other drinks, I have a feeling they'd be pretty good. If you're looking for Hainanese chicken rice, this venue does it well, the chicken is tender, smooth and juicy, and the rice is actually prepared with chicken fat for flavour. While I don't eat at Tsui Wah often, I do plan on coming again.

Hei Hei is a restaurant that specializes in this. On going in you will be under no illusion this place is vegetarian, in line with our tradition their offerings are all hung on railings to show what they have. Some may find it gaudy but I find it very tasty. the typical set would be, say, cha siu with rice and you get to choose either a soup or drink to go with it. In my opinion I would just go with the soup for the total package (perennially its the green and red carrot soup; must have been in that pot for a long time). Prices are also very cheap considering what you get in return- you will not be able to find this in Chinatown (and even if you do, its just not the same stuff). Depending on your choice of meat there may also be some sauce to go with it as well. Forget that carbs diet you are on for now and tuck in. Its not fine dining, its not comfortable and service is acceptable at best. You also find that most people are munching through their lunch like they are in a race- welcome to Hong Kong's pace of life. But it is this combination of factors and uniqueness that you come to witness and why you should not miss out this great, tasty cuisine.

We also ordered the kaya toast which was absolutely delicious! It's essentially fried thick French toast with kaya (coconut jam) slathered in between. It's not specifically mentioned on the menu but if you order cold, it'll come sweetened and hot is unsweetened. Overall, the meal was just alright. The beef and egg sandwiches didn't have much of a flavor and I thought the ground beef was a little dry. The french toast, however, was excellent. Moist, slightly crunchy on the outside, and stuffed with some peanut butter. I'd come back to try something else on the menu but I wouldn't really recommend the sandwiches.
