When I arrived I asked for my order (two smoothies, two entrees, kale slaw and a bag of chips). The employee from behind the counter walked around to hand me my food and drinks. I told her I will need to make two trips since I don't have two hands to carry everything. I then asked if I could have a drink carrier to help make carrying my two smoothies easier. I was told no, it is their policy that only customers with three or more drinks can have a carrier. I was in shock. I am standing there with a cane in my hand and was told I could make multiple trips if needed. Absolutely absurd. I walked to my car carrying my bag of food first and then came back for my drinks. Then a second employee came out to hand me both drinks again. I told her I can only carry one at a time if I am unable to have a drink carrier. At least this time the employee offered to help. I was so taken back by my first encounter I still just couldn't believe it. To make things worse both smoothies were chunky and full of ice. To top it off I went to take my food out and noticed that the kale slaw did not have a plastic lid but was instead wrapped in plastic wrap. The liquid had gotten all over the bag. This experience officially ends my trips to the tropical smoothie cafe. This is the absolute worst managed cafe in the north Charlotte area. Do not come here.

Price was slightly high, but the ingredients and allergy safety made it worth it. Atmosphere is cute, but barely any spots to sit, and service was great! Detailed review: The Mint Cookie smoothie was pretty good, tasted just like mint chocolate ice cream! And my husband's was a solid strawberry smoothie. Ingredients are a huge win, with all-natural, fresh ingredients. I LOVED how allergy-friendly they were, from their vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options to the emphasis on letting the cashier know of any allergies so that they can be extra safe. Price was slightly high, but again, you're paying for good ingredients and allergy safety. Atmosphere is cute but lacking seating making it more of a "stop in and go" rather than a sit-in spot. Would definitely recommend!

I came here during my lunch break, as I entered the energy wasn't very welcoming but ignored and ordered the caramel apple smoothie. The restaurant is located inside a strip area and was very cute inside, so while waiting for my shake, I decided to take photos. My shake my ready shortly after and even though nobody was in the restaurant except me, the young lady that prepared my order made me walk near the back of the restaurant to pick up my order (which is where you pick up, but literally no one was inside)! Once I walked back, she then inquired if I was taking pictures and the tone felt a little interrogational. I immediately responded that I was, but not of her. She then said something to which I didn't hear and I left. Honestly I left feeling a little embarrassed, I've never had anyone questioned if I was taking a photo. My shake was very flavorful and light which I enjoyed. However, 2 hours later I felt the worse pain in my stomach and to be as nice as possible. I spent the rest of the day until Thanksgiving morning in the bathroom. The shake was good, but the after effects and the mediocre service was not worth it.

They continue to make amazing Acai bowls. The granola mixed with Acai is so good. I always add Nutella because it just makes it extra good. There is inconsistency between one person making a bowl verses another. I started having a custom bowl made. Didn't change the inconsistency however. I believe they are too reserved on the fruit. If I only order one type of fruits to a bowl that would typically have 3-4 why shouldn't I get equal amount of the one fruit? Nevertheless I will continue to return when I am in the Belmont area.

My last visit, I ordered one of the green smoothies and it was so thick it was almost slimy, hard to even swallow. My friend's cold brew was undrinkable too. We weren't the only ones unhappy. Another customer overheard us complaining and agreed the quality has gone downhill. Between the wait time and the drinks themselves, it doesn't seem like there's much attention being paid to consistency or quality control anymore. Unfortunately we won't be back.
