We were delighted to see there was a Smoothie King near our hotel. Stopped in after my husbands procedure, we were promptly greeted in a barely audible voice. Everyone was busy, one customer ahead of us and two after us. The floors were a bit dirty, pieces of trash and paper. Like someone tried to clean but was in a hurry. We ordered, the young man was polite but very reserved. In my opinion, it's hard teaching our youth the value of a smile. I had the Immunity Berry, very delicious. My husband had the Island Impact without the protein (I don't know why?!??) I will return but maybe just use the drive thru. read more

When you leave teenagers to run a store the level of professionalism typically declines. I pulled up to the store around 7:45 and as I was about to walk in the store employee locks the door and put a sign up stating the lobby is close due to short staff. Mind you the lobby still had a few customers inside. I went to the drive thru and waited for about 10 min behind other cars. While I was waiting a bunch of kids walked up to the back door and a few others came out to the store to hang out in their car. The line was getting longer and we were still waiting. Then they turned on a recording that they were closed. Very disappointed in this location. read more

Although, as I am writing this, this place has a 3 star rating, this Smoothie King is pretty great. Its very consistent and fast and its great. But after coming so many times through the drive thru, for the first time I was asked, would you like to leave a tip? These past months a lot of drive thru coffee/smoothie places have added that "forced" $1/nothing tip in drive thrus. I am so tired of seeing this forced around and it being more and more common to put the "pay increase" for employees put on the back of the consumers. Its not right. Its a subject where yes "you can opt out" but who wants to feel like an asshole. How dare you not leave just a little tip. I usually stay at one of the hotels close to this location when I come into town so out of convenience, I have chosen to come here several times over the past 6 months. At first I was having a great experience but over the past 2 months, I have had several issues. Today, I had a dry spot in my throat that caused me to cough just at the wrong moment when they were trying to hand me the smoothie I just paid for. The person at the window was extremely rude by shoving my smoothie into my hand (almost breaking the cup) and when I addressed it, said "that's not my problem". How is it not YOUR problem that you just so rudely shoved my smoothie into my hands???? Tried calling the store but the manager was no help and didn't even apologize. I shouldn't have went back at all because last time I was in town, I also had a bad experience. My smoothie was so watered down that it was like drinking an actual drink... and if you drink smoothies, you know that's not how it's supposed to be blended. I went inside to speak to the manager that day but all she offered was a complete refund instead of making a new smoothie that was of the right consistency... so I went to a completely different smoothie place to spend my money. They have been consistently rude over the past 2 months and more often than not, my smoothie isn't right at all (because yes they've also given me the wrong order and didn't care then either) or it isn't the right consistency. I travel ALL over and don't have this many issues with ANY other Smoothie King. I would avoid this location at all costs. I will be taking my business elsewhere in Austin. read more

I come to this location at least once a week for the past 6 months, as it's right next to my gym. The only positive thing I've found about this location is the drinks taste good and my order is usually correct. The cons are that the service is worse than any location of any chain I've ever seen. I usually am there around 6:30-7 pm. They close at 10pm. They will straight up stop serving the drive thru line at 7 saying "we aren't taking any more orders", or you just get the prerecorded woman telling you they're closed. If you somehow get them to take the order, enjoy your 20 minute wait, as they produce about 1 smoothie every 10 minutes. Many times I have seen people angrily drive straight out of line after waiting for 15-20 minutes, as a 6 dollar smoothie isn't worth wasting 20 minutes of your weeknight over. Some may ask: is drive thru the problem? If you manage to make it inside the building (they will lock the door hours before close), you'll notice every single employee is on their phone, drinking their own smoothies. Normally I avoid this location because my drink is always watered down and full of unblended ice cubes, but it's open later than the Research Blvd store and was on my way home this week, so I ordered at the drive-thru. My smoothie probably jammed while blending, and the typical solution is to add a little bit of water. When I entered the store to let the staff know, there was a girl who seemed to be the manager who was full on yelling at the employees around her - all of whom looked very uncomfortable. I felt terrible. This girl (dark hair, pulled back in a ponytail, nose stud on right side) proceeded to berate everyone behind the bar, tossing blenders, lids, and ingredients at them. I have never seen this kind of outright abusive behavior in a customer service setting. Never mind me - I was feeling horrible for these employees who were being humiliated in front of other very uncomfortable customers, who shot me looks of "can you believe this?" This is my normal location, and I take full advantage of the mobile app. I order at LEAST 3 times a week. Being understaffed is NOT a customers issue. Since they are understaffed, they love to lock the lobby and only allow drive thru. The problem with this is that the people who use the mobile app to AVOID the long drive thru lines and save on time, now waste more time waiting in the line. This has happens to me many times, including this morning. I normally just wasn't but I had to leave the line and get to my client appointment after waiting 15 mins in the drive thru JUST to grab my already paid for smoothie. I called to get a refund or to come back and get what I paid for. I ended up coming to get my smoothie, but not with out the very young employee, with sticker stars on her face, to say "next time just come to the door because we can't give free smoothies for a long line," WHAT FREE SMOOTHIE!! I paid for this this morning, and iv knocked before and was denied entrance for short staff, she obviously has no idea what she's talking about. The lack of customer service shows, and this location needs to be avoided. I wouldn't have left a review if that girl hadn't said anything but and apology for this morning. SMH. read more

It's 8am. I'm at the drive through, hoping to get order taken. I wait for 5 minutes, say then say "hello" to alert clerk a customer is at drive through and not a word back*crickets*. I pull around to walk in. It appears as if one customer is waiting for her order and I notice the car that was behind me in the drive through is at the window. One team member inside the store says "we'll be right with you..." Then the drive through clerk begins to take a second order. It's 8:08. A young man emerges with a cash register til complains about something and goes back into the kitchen area. Still waiting. Finally my order is taken at 8:10 without apology for delay. I'm a very patient person, but this was poor performance by a team of 3 people. 2 stars reflects that the young lady inside the store alerted me, "I'll be right with you". One deduction for the drive through having me wait for 5 minutes and serve 3 customers who came after me. Another deduction for the guy that didn't even help the other two unbotheres employees. And the third is for taking nearly 15 minutes to get a smoothie! If I wanted to wait that long I would have went to a restaurant to order a hot meal to go! My son loves smoothie king. Had a coupon for BOGO smoothies. The coupon only said couldn't use for those $5 medium smoothies on Friday and no other exceptions. I ordered the two smoothies and told the cashier about the coupon and showed it to her. She proceeded to tell me the total, which was the full price. When I asked about the coupon the girl just shrugged her shoulders instead of maybe asking someone or finding out more info or if my coupon wasn't valid she could have told me.
