Just wow! Stopped in in a whim with friends and holy smokes, I'm a fan. First of all, we loved the sassy name. Secondly, the person at the counter was warm, gracious and very, very patient as our group of 6 waffled over which tasy option to try. Thirdly, and most important - the food was amazing. I was feeling adventurous, so ordered the ribs (I was pretty hungry). Service was super fast, like less than five minutes, and what came out was six HUGE meaty ribs. I think I managed three before I called a retreat (and saved the rest - they were delicious two days later). I liked their sauce so much that I bought a bottle. I honestly don't remember the sides but there were two and they were tasty. Others in the group enjoyed their choices too - not much left in baskets 15 minutes later! We got there in the dark, so can't report much about where they are. I think they might be on a golf course, based on interior cues? There is a walk-up window and a smallish dine-in area - maybe 5 round tables. Not big on decor, but that's not what we were looking for! It's 4th of July, we want barbeque, barbecue, BBQ! However you want to spell it, we want grilled smoked meat! We were traveling on I80 by Davenport and came across this BBQ place on Yelp. We checked the website and key words of award winning, world competition and barbecue was prompting us to check it out. It's only a few minutes off I80 and thanks to their website, we were looking out for a golf course. Service and the food was great! You order and pick up the food from the a window at the corner of the golf club house. You have the option to eat it there at the many picnic tables or bring it home. We had it there since the weather was nice. We ordered the family meal deal, which came with a full rack of dry rub ribs, our meat choice of a pound of brisket, 4 cornbreads, pint of mac and cheese, 4 buns and 8oz sauce. We loved the ribs! Meaty, tender, tasty, cooked to perfection. The char and seasoning was perfect. We also liked the cornbread along with the mac and cheese, it's cheese sauce is addictive. The brisket is good but there were some parts that were dry. The sauce made up for that. We'll be making it a frequent spot for us to visit when in Iowa. read more

I tried their brisket a while back and it was dry and a tad salty. A few months later, I was a a retirement party that was catered by Smokin' Butt and everything was fabulous!! Meat was tender and juicy. Ok. So I thought I'd give them another shot. Ordered a pound of brisket and some Mac and cheese the other day. I was again disappointed. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing the ribs are here. I have had Smokin Butt for two years in a row now during Bix 7 weekend at their street tent during Bix fest. These are probably the best ribs I have ever had and I lived in Kansas City for 22 years eating BBQ constantly. If you are in the Quad Cities and have a craving for BBQ, you have to try Smokin Butt. If I could give a zero star I would. The brisket is very salty very salty. save your money paid 40 bucks not worth it.

Drove 40 minutes to try this, because I absolutely love BBQ food. Was greatly disappointed. When I first arrived I tried to make good conversation but was either ignored or short answered. Not that friendly of service. I ordered a sampler plate just to try everything they had to offer (pulled chicken, pulled pork, pulled brisket, and smoked sausage) all was terribly salty. Added coleslaw to try and tune down the saltiness but the coleslaw was really runny and just tasted like celery. The flavor was also not that great on top of the saltiness. I tried to also add their bbq but it didn't compliment the meat at all. It wasn't dry. So I guess I'll add a star for that. I heard such good things and they were rated 4.9! But after trying all the meat and not liking anything, I won't be trying again. read more

No smoking anything. Brisket was chewy and it tasted like i cooked it in the oven. Mac and cheese was so bland I had to add to it to eat it. Gave away the ribs after trying to eat 1.
