Not being from the area, we'd never heard of mission BBQ, but walking inside the amazing aroma had you hooked. Our whole team was commenting on how amazing it smelt. You can tell they're making their food from scratch and smoking their meats daily. Our food was WONDERFUL. I had brisket and their jalapeno cheddar sausage (made especially for them) and it had a great kick to it! I was so excited I forgot to even take a picture for this review. I assume this is typical but one worker walked around offering samples to try-- they will let you try something before you commit to ordering it as well if you ask! The staff was the friendliest I'd had anywhere, and they were passionate about it too! The atmosphere speaks for itself... my coworker being a veteran got his meal for less than $5! This team was happy, welcoming and beyond helpful. Restaurant was clean and well taken care of. The items were all donated. Very neat to see. Let me start by saying I'm a Memphis girl who lived in the Quad Cities for a few years and it was very difficult to find decent bbq when we lived near Davenport. So I would be remiss if I didn't note a bit of jealousy that there is now great BBQ in the QC area only once we no longer live in the area!!! The food from Mission BBQ was stellar. We got a bunch of food to go for our extended family -- we tried the pulled pork, Mac & cheese, baked beans, french fries, and potato salad and every single thing was delicious. I have to say the Mac & cheese really surprised me-- it was so flavorful! I really enjoyed the variety of sauces and thought the Memphis one was pretty true to the flavor profile of the Memphis area. (Maybe had a little bit more vinegar taste to it but I honestly prefer it that way!!!!) I can't say much about the service or ambiance as we got it to go but the restaurant was themed adorably and I enjoyed looking at the pictures of the military men and women. I've never had a bad experience at a Mission BBQ. The pulled pork, baked beans, and mac & cheese is a staple. Recently they've added corn bread to their menu! I respect the military / first responder appreciation, and will continue to patronize this establishment. The management makes rounds of the dining area, ensuring the customers are satisfied. While the turkey was a little on the dry side, it was late in the evening, still tasted great and gave me the opportunity to try all of the hot sauces at the table (see pictures). To say this is a veteran friendly place is a major understatement. I always feel welcomed by the entire staff. The bbq is very good and there are a wide range of options. Their sides and desserts are also very tasty. If you are there at noon time the national anthem is played. I do not know of this practice in any other restaurant in the Quad Cities. read more

This is the best BBQ I have had in Iowa or Illinois. The mac n Cheese was not dry and had a great creamy flavor. The staff was helpful, since it was our time here, she explained the menu and how it works. The places is geared towards service members of all kinds. They had plenty of seating inside and out. Plenty of choices and portions are big. We also had coleslaw and a brisket sandwich, but my significant other had it half gone before I got to the pictures. I'll start with the front counter service, the young lady was very outgoing and was so helpful for a person who hasn't been to Mission BBQ before. She answered all of my questions and allowed me to taste the sides before I selected! I tried the 3 meat combo and got the brisket (moist cut), pulled pork and the jalapeño-cheese sausage, I didn't go wrong at all! The brisket was smoke well and had a decent crust and the taste was excellent. I like the pulled pork and the sausage was the best!! I had the coleslaw for a side and the creamy coleslaw was very good. I didn't care for the cornbread (I thought it was pretty dry but the rest of the meal was excellent. Back to the service, we had another young lady come over a couple times to ensure everything was up to standard and they even gave me a free dessert of peach cobbler, it was good, it made me crave a bit of soft vanilla ice cream. My family and I came to Mission after our Saturday church service along with 2 other families. In total we are a group of 19....which is often very intimidating to restaurants when we show up. When we walked in tonight we were greeted with excitement and a sample of chicken which was delicious. Mya did an incredible job explaining our menu options as well as taking her time with our kids' decision making. My son was hoping for a baked sweet potato but they were out at the time...all the other meals we ordered were timely and delicious, and then, sweet Mya walked a sweet potato out to my son when it finished cooking! (Free of charge) We had plenty of seating so the kids could have their own table and another employee (did not catch her name unfortunately)came out to ask how many kids we had and if they could bring them FRESH BAKED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. The food was amazing, prices are decent, the restaurant is clean and well kept, and the service is IMPECCABLE! I hope they are ready for our return on another Saturday soon! This is a tough one for me. I have heard that Mission is one of the best BBQ joints in the quad cities, that is disappointing because I thought it was just average. I actually prefer the ribs from HyVee. And that is sad. The place itself is nice enough on the inside. It's clean. The 2 times we have been here the ribs were dry and over cooked. On top of that it's expensive. Obviously people here in the quad cities like it, that's fine. My family does not. People like the Chinese buffet place down the street too and I think that place is disgusting. read more
