Not being from the area, we'd never heard of mission BBQ, but walking inside the amazing aroma had you hooked. Our whole team was commenting on how amazing it smelt. You can tell they're making their food from scratch and smoking their meats daily. Our food was WONDERFUL. I had brisket and their jalapeno cheddar sausage (made especially for them) and it had a great kick to it! I was so excited I forgot to even take a picture for this review. I assume this is typical but one worker walked around offering samples to try-- they will let you try something before you commit to ordering it as well if you ask! The staff was the friendliest I'd had anywhere, and they were passionate about it too! The atmosphere speaks for itself... my coworker being a veteran got his meal for less than $5! This team was happy, welcoming and beyond helpful. Restaurant was clean and well taken care of. The items were all donated. Very neat to see. I love those that honor our military and would suggest this place to anyone!!! Miranda and Shedrick were particularly great!!! GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS & You won't regret it!! read more

Would not recommend. None of the food was good, the bbq sauces also not good, I love bbq however I didn't finish any of the meal. Got 5 ribs couldn't taste the smoke, they were very salty ( and I like salt) got both baked beans and green beans they didn't taste good and the corn bread was very dry and cold. read more

MISSION BBQ - This is what I didn't eat and I was hungry for bbq. - Barbeque Near Me - Davenport, Iowa

Great bbq and amazing service! The poultry (chicken and turkey) were so moist and smoky and flavorful. We loved the decor, very fun to look around during the short wait for our food. read more

Food was excellent. Service was fast. This was our first time here and the person taking our order was so helpful and seemed genuinely happy to be helping us and making sure we knew exactly what we were ordering read more

Let me start by saying I'm a Memphis girl who lived in the Quad Cities for a few years and it was very difficult to find decent bbq when we lived near Davenport. So I would be remiss if I didn't note a bit of jealousy that there is now great BBQ in the QC area only once we no longer live in the area!!! The food from Mission BBQ was stellar. We got a bunch of food to go for our extended family -- we tried the pulled pork, Mac & cheese, baked beans, french fries, and potato salad and every single thing was delicious. I have to say the Mac & cheese really surprised me-- it was so flavorful! I really enjoyed the variety of sauces and thought the Memphis one was pretty true to the flavor profile of the Memphis area. (Maybe had a little bit more vinegar taste to it but I honestly prefer it that way!!!!) I can't say much about the service or ambiance as we got it to go but the restaurant was themed adorably and I enjoyed looking at the pictures of the military men and women. The staff members were attentive while we were there but not overly friendly or enthusiastic. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and you want some good BBQ! read more

I've never had a bad experience at a Mission BBQ. The pulled pork, baked beans, and mac & cheese is a staple. Recently they've added corn bread to their menu! I respect the military / first responder appreciation, and will continue to patronize this establishment. The management makes rounds of the dining area, ensuring the customers are satisfied. Everyday at 1200 they play the National Anthem. Thank you! read more

4.5* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 5* Value: 4* Service: 5* 11/16/2023 This place was recommended by a work colleague for my visit in Davenport. This place has hospitality down right. Employees were constantly greeting me, making me feel quite welcome and showing true appreciation that I was there to try some of their BBQ. For my meal, I ate quite light - opting for only the 8oz of Smoked Turkey with a side of cornbread (see picture). While the turkey was a little on the dry side, it was late in the evening, still tasted great and gave me the opportunity to try all of the hot sauces at the table (see pictures). Definitely a solid BBQ stop in Davenport...and I loved the support and appreciation that was shown to our military throughout the restaurant! Great food, friendly staff, and a patriotic vibe. Brisket juicy, sides solid! Love!!!

Absolutely the best bbq I've had. Have traveled the U.S. and found by far this is the number one spot. Matt was a great help, his smile and personality was excellent. The inside is dedicated to first responders and military. They also have a selection of different types of BBQ sauce to choose from. I highly recommend that you stop in. read more

To say this is a veteran friendly place is a major understatement. I always feel welcomed by the entire staff. The bbq is very good and there are a wide range of options. Their sides and desserts are also very tasty. If you are there at noon time the national anthem is played. I do not know of this practice in any other restaurant in the Quad Cities. read more

This is the best BBQ I have had in Iowa or Illinois. The mac n Cheese was not dry and had a great creamy flavor. The staff was helpful, since it was our time here, she explained the menu and how it works. The places is geared towards service members of all kinds. They had plenty of seating inside and out. Plenty of choices and portions are big. We also had coleslaw and a brisket sandwich, but my significant other had it half gone before I got to the pictures. He said the brisket was very good, coleslaw was not his favorite, but he is a coleslaw snob. Lol....very worth the trip, will go back without a doubt! read more

My family and I came to Mission after our Saturday church service along with 2 other families. In total we are a group of 19....which is often very intimidating to restaurants when we show up. When we walked in tonight we were greeted with excitement and a sample of chicken which was delicious. Mya did an incredible job explaining our menu options as well as taking her time with our kids' decision making. My son was hoping for a baked sweet potato but they were out at the time...all the other meals we ordered were timely and delicious, and then, sweet Mya walked a sweet potato out to my son when it finished cooking! (Free of charge) We had plenty of seating so the kids could have their own table and another employee (did not catch her name unfortunately)came out to ask how many kids we had and if they could bring them FRESH BAKED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. The food was amazing, prices are decent, the restaurant is clean and well kept, and the service is IMPECCABLE! I hope they are ready for our return on another Saturday soon! Thanks again to all of the staff at the Davenport Mission BBQ on 2/10/24!! Kim read more

Love the military/law enforcement theme which was accompanied by such friendly and great service. Had the pulled pork and brisket- while the brisket may not win a bbq comp in Texas it was still solid. Love, love, love their selection of bbq sauces. The cornbread was lacking, it was dry and tasted like it had been in a fridge and absorbed all the other food aromas. I'd still go back here though- give them a try and just ask for fresh cornbread read more

Everything is stellar!! Loved it and staff!! Getting ready to go right now! I would recommend to anyone and did at the hospital.

Terrible experience. My son ordered the yard bird, after eating half of it we realized it still raw and bloody. The manager/supervisor tried to make up for it by refunding the cost of his meal and offering a $20 gift card. The gesture was kind but raw poultry is not something you can recover from. read more

I'll start with the front counter service, the young lady was very outgoing and was so helpful for a person who hasn't been to Mission BBQ before. She answered all of my questions and allowed me to taste the sides before I selected! I tried the 3 meat combo and got the brisket (moist cut), pulled pork and the jalapeño-cheese sausage, I didn't go wrong at all! The brisket was smoke well and had a decent crust and the taste was excellent. I like the pulled pork and the sausage was the best!! I had the coleslaw for a side and the creamy coleslaw was very good. I didn't care for the cornbread (I thought it was pretty dry but the rest of the meal was excellent. Back to the service, we had another young lady come over a couple times to ensure everything was up to standard and they even gave me a free dessert of peach cobbler, it was good, it made me crave a bit of soft vanilla ice cream. Overall the lady up front and the young lady that checked on our group of 12 showed what customer service is all about!! I appreciate all the employees at the Davenport Mission BBQ!! read more

Great place! Ambiance, food and service was amazing. Dyami took our order. He's a rock star! Welcoming, knowledgeable and focused on guests having a great experience. Great job guys! read more

This is a tough one for me. I have heard that Mission is one of the best BBQ joints in the quad cities, that is disappointing because I thought it was just average. I actually prefer the ribs from HyVee. And that is sad. The place itself is nice enough on the inside. It's clean. The 2 times we have been here the ribs were dry and over cooked. On top of that it's expensive. Obviously people here in the quad cities like it, that's fine. My family does not. People like the Chinese buffet place down the street too and I think that place is disgusting. read more

I was a first time customer and felt right at home. The place is exceptionally clean and tidy. Everyone seems genuinely friendly. I was greeted by a couple of people to see if I was satisfied. The mac & cheese...so good! The BBQ is also pretty sensational. MY only complaint...I didn't eat more. Good stuff and I'll be back. read more

Awesome food and fantastic customer service. The manager was very friendly and gave us dessert for our first time in.

Food is excellent! Costumer service extremely friendly! The decorations of this establishment is incredible to look at !

Office lunch today from Mission BBQ was awesome. The pulled pork sandwich was piled high such that the bun couldn't quite hold it...so I dipped that separately into one of the many sauces. The fries were pretty basic, but I'm sure they'd be even better when dining in. Hopefully we'll have this take out lunch again soon. read more

I've had BBQ from Kansas City and St. Louis. Those were excellent! We have been here to Mission BBQ numerous times now. Service is fabulous. They greet you before you get to the counter, quickly take your order and it's ready in a few minutes. We have had about everything on the menu now and everything was great. Not fans of the chicken, it was chopped too much! Had the turkey tonight. Better than what I had for thanksgiving! read more

I was so dissapointed. The meat tasted as if the rot from the grill hadn't been cleaned/burnt crusted in a while and the fries were stiff old and cold. Really will never go here again. We are from the south, we expected at least hot food. Just yuck! read more

Definitely leaning on veterans for their marketing. Food was cold and mediocre. Watered down dipping sauces. Very eerie interactions with employees. There's a vip program for first responders, vets and such but there's no points or discount. Just a gimmick email that offers a bonus sandwich. Best bbq we've had outside of Memphis! Comparable to Central BBQ & Corky's in Memphis. So tender and all the sides and sauce you would expect in Memphis.
