What a smoky bbq that pork ribs were so amazing tenderness, tasty n delicious!!! The meats pork were cooking right on with yummy barbecue sauce on top!! A side dish of potatoes salad plus soda drinks that it was perfect lunch on the weekend!! Service was counter top n they served customers well communication and efficient!! They have the seating inside ice chilling with air conditioning if we get hot even in the winter time!!! Plus outside seating with a rooftop ... it's warm n sunny in the winter time too!!

I tried it because I was told that it was one of the 2 best BBQ joints in Tucson. Hmmmm, not impressed at all. I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.

Excellent barbecue, the brisket was MOIST! Loved the sides and coleslaw as well as the big squares of cornbread. Service was very friendly. The only downside is there's not a lot of shaded seating if you want to eat outside. My brother got the ribs and ate the whole slab. It was a great lunch. Also they have Coke Zero which is a huge plus to me. Big enough parking lot too.

We've been looking for a local BBQ spot and this was a great find! The signature bbq sauce tastes like it maybe has curry in it? But overall a great Kansas City bbq. The seating is limited inside so much better as a to go option, the service was quick though! We tried the burnt ends and rib tips, both cooked to perfection. The side of potato salad was also a hefty portion. The only miss was the Mac n cheese, it looked and tasted like something from the grocery store refrigerated section.

This is a business which was a real pleasure to support. We were fortunate to have eaten here. Kansas City BBQ. Mild, not salty, fall off the bone tender. Brisket literally melted in the mouth. Ribs were perfectly done and soft/delectable. My chicken was thoroughly cooked and not greasy nor dry. Sides: Exceptional collard greens. Not salty. Perfect! Beans: NOT SWEET thank God! Perfect! Coleslaw: lightly dressed the way it should be! This business deserves all the love and praise. FIVE GLOWING STARS! Best wishes, Deborah and Gary from Toronto, Canada.

This is definitely a hole in the wall, but that can lead to some surprises. We got a combo plate and a sandwich. The sandwich was good, but they had just one sauce which was too tomato forward. The brisket on the sandwich was good, but the platter's brisket was a good portion of fat. The turkey tasted like deli turkey with no smoke ring. The mac was good, a little watery. The potato salad was good. The cornbread would've been great if they used honey instead of syrup. The price wasn't hole in the wall prices. I'm glad I tried it out, but probably won't go again.

Small building surrounded by a delicate aroma of smoking meats, and it smells delicious!! Small parking lot gets full when busy. Ambiance/Cleanliness-A KC, MO kinda vibe. Very clean. Indoor seating, cozy tables. 4 stars. Service-Warm and welcoming...efficient. 4 stars. Food. Have had dry rub wings, rib tips and brisket. The brisket was above average, but meats come sauced unless requested otherwise, so I couldnt check bark. Wings are up there with the best, smokey and flavorful. Rib tips also excellent. Sauce is thick with horseradish and celery seed. 4 stars

Went in person on a weeknight and ordered to go. Service was ok, not friendly but not rude. We ordered the 3 meats 3 sides combo with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket and for the sides, fries, mac and cheese, and potato salad. The meats were tender but needed more sauce. The fries were awful, almost burned and some fries were hard and some soggy and very greasy. we had to throw those away. The Mac and cheese and potato salad were good. There is seating inside and out.

Bob N.

The one thing I don't like about barbecue places is coming out smelling like I've just been smoked myself. That being said, I truly do appreciate this place because it's a simple menu and the prices were not too bad. The lady at the front was very friendly and I appreciated her promptness and getting my order ready so the service was excellent with that regards. They also told me originally that they ran out of chicken, but they didn't and made my order happen. I like the outdoor seating and the inside seating was not too shabby. But I would prefer sitting outside, especially if you can tolerate the shaded area and not coming out like smoke. The barbecue was pretty good and I just wish there was more sauce smothered all over my chicken. I'm a saucy type of guy if you're in the neck of the woods for this place, then please stop by.

Mac, potato salad, brisket and pulled pork.

Skip this place! Got the pulled pork sandwich and fries only to be disappointed with the so called BBQ sandwich. Who doesn't put bbq sauce in their sandwich??? When we asked for sauce they said they were out??? It wasn't even noon ugh. Never coming back. The meat lacked seasoning as well. Fries were okay. read more

I was expecting more based on the reviews but it was my first time and not everything works out on one visit. I had turkey but it was rather dry. My son had pulled pork and it was fine. I have had better even at a chain restaurant. Then again I have also had worse. We did go a bit late in the afternoon for lunch. I was disappointed that there were no ribs available. For me baby back ribs are one of the dishes all BBQ restaurants should be judged on. It's also something I cook myself and am always evolving my own recipe based on my experiences with other people's ribs. I can't properly review a BBQ restaurant without sampling the ribs. As for the building itself , it's very small and there's very little seating inside. However it's clean with simple and adequate furnishings and there's a lot of natural sunlight. The parking lot is equally small and might be a problem when it's crowded. Overall it's an average BBQ place but it's casual, comfortable and friendly. I will post additional review after I try the ribs. read more

Tasty vittles! Brandon was an excellent host. The wife and I shared a 4 Meat Combo (brisket, pulled pork, rib tips, wings (2 dry, 2 sauce) with fries, potato salad, cole slaw, collards. This combo fed us with enough to take home for a snack later. All the meats tasted great and were well prepared and presented. The wings are smoked with the rub or sauce and when served are easy eating with no mess. The dry rub is especially flavorful with a bit of tanginess. The fries were coated. The potato salad is mustard type and had good flavor. Coleslaw is deliciously crisp, sweet, with a hint vinegar. Collards were very well prepared with a peppery vinegar seasoning. Sweet Tea is Southern SWEET! Inside seating has 3 four place tables and maybe 5 window counter type seats. Outside North facing patio seating was much larger with an overhead cover and side shades which can be raised or lowered. read more

This is the second time that I have been here. The food was just as good as the first time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The woman in front of me was being slightly difficult and the cashier was impressively patient with her. The restaurant was clean, although I ordered take out. I've only gotten the tacos, but my friend had the pulled pork sandwich and she said it was very good. The tacos are flavorful and not spicy. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Read many reviews of this place before I took the time to go there. The sign on the outside should have warned me in advance. The sign was for the daily special that featured burnt ends over French Fries. The special included sour cream. In my sixty plus years of eating barbecue I have never seen sour cream, would take away from the taste inherent in excellent barbecue - the smoke. I ordered the beef brisket with sides of beans and slaw. What arrived from the kitchen consisted of several slices of brisket (with gobs) of fat attached and significant amount of nondescript sauce on top. Quickly looking at the brisket pieces for the "gold standard" of barbecue, the purplish line from the surfaces of the beef toward the center. It wasn't there. The beef was tender enough however it didn't have flavor associated with beef slow cooked over several hours I was expecting. And why you believe me. I ate my first barbecue at around ages five - twenty in Kansas City. The many years in Texas, Dallas & Austin. Each of those areas have unique forms of barbecue. And the purplish line in the beef where the woodsmoke has penetrated is alwa read more

I looked up this place on a trip to Tucson and liked the reviews, so we gave it a shot. I'm from Texas, and pretty picky about my BBQ, and this place did not disappoint! We ordered the 4 meat plate to split between 2 people and it was a very large serving, with 2 drinks as well. The food was great and well seasoned, and the Mac and cheese was delicious. We liked the brisket and sausage best, but the pulled pork was also good. Would definitely go here again! read more

It's wonderful to see this location occupied again. My niece highly recommended this place and although I eat mainly vegetarian these days, I have manned the grill plenty in my former meat butchering, smootherin' and grillin' daze. I was taught by a Texas grill master and I appreciate the Texas dry rub, but love my North Carolina tangy BBQ sauce. All that being said, I pulled into this fresh coat of paint now named Somkey Mo and was ready for some good grub. I wanted to love as my niece does but for me it was acceptable but left me dry. I roped some of my coworkers into trying the place too. Over all our order included wings, brisket, pull pork, hit links and sides. Perhaps it's my lack of KS BBQ background but the flavors were not distinct and wings were extra dry. I'm a sucker for wings love them hot, love sweet...just plain love them period. However, I found the hot/habanero to not be so very hot but I guess it's so everyone else who don't want to breath fire can eat them too??? We were disappointed that the Mustard option had been eliminated. That at least sounded different. We were also disappointed with the lack of charred ring for the brisket, but again acceptable. The texture on the hot link was unique and we did enjoy that. The pulled pork was well cooked- not over done and not under cooked; but again for us it lack a distinct taste. in the end most of agreed for the price we will give Mo's another try. The best part is that it inspired us and we will be doing our own BBQ rib luncheon next week. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! My husband told me about this place last summer but we were in the process of moving and I didn't get a chance to try it-well we get to Come back home every month for appts etc, and today my husband brought me in for lunch! Wow was it everything he has describes? YES IT WAS AND MORE! I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich and it was the best BBQ sandwich I've had since KC, MO! He was a BBQ connoisseurs of sorts and had he not passed away 2 years ago he would have loved this place! I loved this place and frankly, although great Mexican food in Tucson is a given, I didn't know they had good barbeque too. They had all my favorites, so my wife and I decided to split the The Big "Q" Platter for $38. This included Brisket, Pulled Pork, Tri-tip, Sausage, Turkey, two St. Louis Style Pork Ribs, and 4 slices of toast with our choice of two eight-ounce sides (we chose the baked beans and coleslaw. My favorites were the Ribs, Brisket, Tri-tip, and baked beans. The turky was solid and smokey. I'm not really a fan of sausage, but my wife enjoyed these. I loved that you could really taste the smokey taste and that everything was fresh, juicy, and tender. The baked beans were the kind of love, with pieces of pork throughout the mixture. Because we split this platter (with leftovers), it was quite a good deal. When the bill came, the waitress listed a bunch of things that qualified for an extra discount, so we scored an additional 10% off for being seniors. If I lived in Tucson, this place would be on my regular restaurant rotation, which is high praise indeed!

This restaurant has jazz every Sunday afternoon from 2-5p.m. Absolutely incredible musicians and singer! The crowd was festively dressed and happy and truly enjoying this music. We got shareable appetizers, the burnt end nachos with brisket and fried buffalo cauliflower florets with ranch dressing. Both delicious!! I had the Old Forester 1920 whiskey- 1 Oz and that was plenty! The bartender served us water as well as we had sat up at bar. The was professional and quite efficient. Before we left, I asked bartender what I could get to bring home for my dog- thinking he would laugh at me, but he told me he does same for his dog and that he eats better than him. We laughed when I said "same!" He suggested the tacos and would separate out the pulled pork from the onions, cotija cheese and jalapeños- and did! My Uber driver was raving about it on the way over, which sealed the deal. While the cheap beer does require a food purchase, I was planning to eat anyway--no complaints there. I went with the 3-for-$11 taco deal and it was more than enough food. You get to choose between green or red salsa; I went with the green, which definitely has a nice kick. I asked the server if they could mix it up with two brisket tacos and one pork belly, and they were happy to accommodate. After reading some mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised--nothing was dry or overly fatty. Everything was flavorful and delicious. My total for four 10-oz beers and three tacos was just over $20, which is an incredible deal for the quality and amount of food and drink. I came to watch the U of A basketball game, and this place is perfect for it--plenty of TVs, tons of seating, and even space for large groups. There's also a covered outdoor patio with lots of seating, plus foosball and cornhole. Parking was easy, too. I sat at the bar, struck up a great conversation, and found the patrons to be super friendly. Overall, a great vibe all around. Highly recommend Cheap Beer Tuesdays: $2 for a 10-oz pour and $4 for a 20-oz pour. Easily one of the best beer deals in town. I'll definitely be back!

This restaurant was a great find! We stopped for lunch after grabbing coffee down the street and had a great experience. The pulled pork was delicious, smoky and not too fatty with great sauce and sides. The cole slaw was light and refreshing, the beans were a little less thick than I'm used to sauce wise but still delicious.
