We came here on o Monday just after it opened up at 11am to celebrate our Mom's 92nd birthday with a good meal (she picked this place). Among the four of us, two ordered the Texas Style Beef Brisket Platter ($27.99), and two ordered the Pulled Pork Platter ($21.49). I had the brisket with my two sides being baked beans and Mac n cheese. The interior is open air with mostly booths and a bar in the middle. I imagine it can become a little noisy when it's filled with people, but we had arrived early so there wasn't any issues with noise. Our server was polite and friendly. She put the coffee on fresh for us. She checked on us several times during our meal. I loved my brisket. It was tender and moist and very good! I added some sauce to my plate for dipping. There were 4 sauces to choose from, but the two I enjoyed were the Mustard BBQ, and the Chipotle BBQ. Both had some heat which added some great flavors to the brisket. The others all enjoyed their orders as well. Mom loved her pulled pork, and she had a great time. We all went home where cake, ice cream, presents and birthday cards awaited her. Our visit to Smokey Bones was pretty solid! First off, I was blown away by the sauce selection with so many options, and each one has a different kick. Mustard bbq, KC bbq, Chipotle bbq & Carolina mopping sauce The vibe was lively and fun, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Service did slow down a bit, but with a game on and the place packed, it was understandable. The food itself was unforgettable. The mac and cheese was absolutely to die for, rich and creamy. The Morning Glory Burger with the egg was a flavor bomb of amazing! I was hesitant but the mix was spot on. And the Brisket Stuffed Grilled Cheese? Just insane. Smokey Bones is a busy place. This is a great barbecue place. You know you are about to get some smoked food. The wings are great. I was there with my coworkers. They enjoyed other menu items. I would say this is a must visit place. The ambiance is nice. The decor is on point for a barbecue restaurant. The service was great. The server checked on us often. I was told that they ran out of wings that I wanted to try. However, they made it for me anyway. I was fine with trying something different. But the chef prepared it for me they way they use to make it. I enjoyed my wings. I had 2 types of barbecue sauce. The fries were good. If i go back I'll try something different. This place was quasi terrible! This place hits it on the wings and sausage. The Brunswick stew was tasty. But they could NOT serve hot food!! Everything came out lately warm. We ordered the Fire Pit to try a variety of meats. I think the concept is to keep your food hot. But the food came out barely warm. And if you leave it long enough over the charcoal, it becomes hot. Not a good business model. The chicken was bone dry. The sirloin was bone dry. The ribs were dry with barely any meat for a baby back rib. Not sure what kind of baby back as the rib bones were skinny and long but had the babyback curve. I can't blame the guy helping us. He was polite. Very nice. BUT he seemed to be the only one working 20 tables. Maybe more. That is probably why we waited a while for food. He was the only one that I saw in this section. That's poor management there. Cutting through the area on another road trip and this place was across the hwy from our hotel. Sat up at the bar and was immediately greeted by a very friendly bartender. "Cristina", I believe was her name makes a very good drink. She was super friendly and very interactive with the people she was serving. She must have had roller skates on because she never slowed down! She was running the whole bar on her own as well as having to get food orders from the line. I didn't get her name, but another server was behind us and was also very friendly. I think the best part was getting to know one of the regulars. If you happen to be lucky enough to visit while Mr Johnny is at the bar, you will do yourself a huge service to get to know him. All in, we would definitely come back here to eat again if we had the same people to talk with. I've been driving by Smokey Bones restaurants for years and years, so finally stopped in. The place is quite large, lots on menu and many interesting items on menu. The yelp review was showing $$ but it's more like a $$$. First off, it was an afternoon lunch. Looked like they were truly understaffed. I order a brisket plate and my wife had a salad. They both were good, but not great. Service seemed to be stretched and a lot of hurrying for a not so full restaurant. The food was decent, but I don't think I would go out of my way to head to another Smokey Bones for BBQ. I think there are many more places that do a better justice to BBQ and ribs. My wife and I took a weekend trip to check out what Springfield and surrounding areas had to offer. We stopped here for dinner. Service was great. The young lady was quick and attentive. Took forever to get a table when there were only 2 other families eating in the restaurant. Took forever to get food. They were out of pulled chicken. When the food finally arrived, the plates were so incredibly hot that the waitress left her serving towel for us to move the plates around because they were too hot to touch (4 of those plates were for kids). My gravy was congealed to the top of the potatoes from sitting under a heat lamp for so long. The bread on the bun was so hard that it was crumbling like burnt toast. The macaroni and cheese was hard and the grilled cheese still had unmelted shredded cheese under the bread (yet the plate was burning hot, So I have no idea how they managed that). Then my son's ribs were hard and didn't fall off the bone in any way, shape or form. Maybe because it was mostly bone and hardly any meat. But the kicker was the Cole slaw. My son took one bite and literally gagged and spit it out. He's a Cole slaw lover. When I tried it, it was 100% rancid mayo. It tasted like it should have been tossed a week ago. This might have been the worst dining out experience I have ever had. From the food to the service, it was terrible. I can't believe they get so many good reviews! Maybe this is considered good for Springfield, but 4 out of 6 of us left hungry because we could only eat like 1/6th of our food. Gross. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!! read more

Smokey Bones is an awesome chain to visit that supports the military and informs you of the military discount on the doors prior to entering. Upon entering the restaurant is large and has a large U style open bar. I sat at the bar for the meal and drinks and was greeted promptly upon entering. They also have specials too and are open late. For dinner I had the create your on bbq platter with three meats. I had the bourbon chicken, smoked wings, and turkey. For sides I had Mac and cheese and broccoli. Everything was flavorful and the Mac and cheese is an up charge but totally worth it. My favorite meat was the smoked wings so I highly recommend that. The portion size is very feeling too. The house wine I had was a Cabernet Sauvignon and there was nothing special about it, but it's a house wine. I definitely will be back again and hope to dry some of their other drinks too. read more
