So tonight was my daughter's birthday. She made a reservation online for 8 at 7pm. We all met at Smokey bones at 7pm. On arrival they had no idea we had a reservation. She checked & acted surprised but set a table up. They were very dead so no biggie. We all ordered drinks & chatted awhile. She came back to get our order while placing our dinner orders we asked for a refill of iced tea. We finished our orders & she went to grab tea.... Expect she never came back. We had to ask 2 people to find her & then it was one of them that actually brought it out. It took about 25 mins for the food. This was fine with us except while waiting 2 other drinks needed a refill & of course we had to go find her to get someone else to refill them also. When our server; Brittany finally appeared our food had been delivered already. Another server just auctioned it off to us but it was better than it sitting in the window. The food was fine, beans tasted bad but otherwise everything was great. We began asking for boxes & Brittany did bring them out. We paid our bills & waited. We had brought a cake in that they were supposed to bring out & sing to my daughter, it never came. We never saw the server again. My daughter's friend finally found someone to go get the cake from the freezer but it was just so we could take it home. We did not even get to enjoy it with them since we were leaving in opposite directions & it was already 9pm. It was really quiet & calm in the restaurant. Nothing like it used to be. We haven't been inside in awhile. After tonight I don't think I will return. It's a Tuesday evening, the place was dead but our server; Brittany was more interested in hanging out with a man in the first booth. If you're leaving her on the floor you should probably put up a self serve drink station cause without it, your guest are on empty. Don't trust her with parties either... idk if she thought we would forget the cake so she could keep it but her & the hostess both knew it was a birthday celebration. It was an ice cream cake so they put it in the freezer for us. Once they got home they realized the candles were missing from the bag as well. What was supposed to be a fun dinner with family became a frustrating mess. We did let the hostess know how terrible it was on the way out but that was the extent of communication with them. read more

We visited this restaurant after doing some shopping. My husband wanted BBQ so I figured, why not? I felt comfortable with the seating arrangements, there is plexiglass between booths plus staff all wore masks. I had three tacos and they were very good. My husband had a combo with ribs and pulled pork. We both agreed that while it was good, we prefer another BBQ chain more. Staff was very attentive. Went with 5 other people for a friends dinner. Had the rib special with 2 sides. My food was very good, and the waiter, although busy, did a good job in handling our table, although he did not know they had craft beer, and one of my favorites no less, so i had to get up and get one myself. Pricey pints at over $7+ each. Food came out quickly, and everyone enjoyed their meal...and they're not an easy bunch. Friday night was busy, but we got a table quickly. Our waitress was juggling more tables than we thought humanly possible, but she did it well. Throughout our time here, we did not feel neglected. We waited a little more than usual to get drinks, our food, and the bill, but that was understandable with the crowd that night. Our waitress kept smiling and was accommodating the entire time. The food was excellent - as usual. We have been coming to Smokey Bones regularly since they opened in Clearwater & Citrus Park. I think we've tried 75% of the items on the menu - all good. Friday night we had our favorites: St. Louis Ribs (husband) and pulled pork (mine) with baked potatoes. Meat fell off the ribs and the pork was moist & delectable. We each ate until we were full, bringing home just enough for lunch Saturday. It is a little noisy here, but it IS a bar, with sports being broadcast on televisions around the bar, which is in the center of this restaurant. Walked in today, we are regulars, and we stood at the host stand as the to go person was very busy, but we saw a serve with curly hair look at us, and then up at the TV WITH HER HAND ON HER HEAD UPSET WITH THE FIGHT ON. She then Walked to the back and a different server greeted us and welcomed us to the table, before going to the table to original server (Brittany) was speaking loudly saying "I don't know what they want, we close soon, like what do they want?" The time was 12:40am on a Saturday, they close at 1:30.. it's been a long day and we wanted to enjoy our selves on this long day! This is definitely my go to barbecue restaurant when I am in the Clearwater area. Recently went here with a party of six, some had been here before and others were new. I started out with a cup of Brunswick stew which I thought was OUTSTANDING!!4 of us at the table had the fire pit bowl(not sure if the exact name) it served four people a sampler of their flagship barbecue pieces. It had brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken, potato, peppers onions,and other things I don't even remember, but they were memorable. Service was attentive and the wait time at prime dining hour wasn't even too bad on a weeknight. Well it was so good, I went back the next night which was a Friday! Again with a large party which was seated in a timely manner. This time I was smart and got a bowl of Brunswick stew. It was a little bit more watery than the previous night, but still delicious. Our dinner was $165 for the four of us and my one year old, I offered to pay for the table and gave my credit card and about a week later my card updated the transaction to a $223 charge, so looks like they charged me TWICE for the $30 tip I left since the original charge it was not there, so either someone messed with my receipt and changed my $30 tip to $65 or they are double dipping and hope the customers don't notice. It's the greatest vibe, always playing great tunes, fabulous late night happy hour that caters to the surrounding bars/restaurants that close a few hours earlier before them, service is always on point, food comes out at a more than reasonable time, you pull into the parking lot and you can smell the brisket beyond your insulated car. The bbq ribs and green bean casserole were done right. The others not so much. The sweet potato fries actually came uncooked. You know when you get sweet potato fries from Costco and accidentally undercook it, that was the same texture and taste I experienced with these. The baby back ribs portion was underwhelming, and quite dry, still ate it but it wasn't appealing at all. I've seen the Smokey bones chain pop up in some other local cities and really hopes it would be good and I was let down. We stopped at Smokey Bones last night after 13+ hours of flying and it was a nice cherry on top of a long day. It was one of the only places open at 1 Am, so that was a huge plus and the kitchen was still serving top notch food (not freezer bar food for the late night crowd). Our group ordered the Smokey wings, a set of ribs, a trio of tacos and the combination nachos. The nachos were definitely tasty, I love when there's tons of fresh ingredients (tomatoes, green onions, salsa). The pulled pork was raved about by everyone, very juicy and flavorful on the tacos and nachos. The ribs were tasty, but don't compare to "Memphis Style" or "Texas Style" The drinks though... the passion fruit lemonade was SO flavorful! Super refreshing after a long day and the group I was with loved their spiked blackberry lemonade and beers. The waiter we had, Victor, was also so nice and accommodating even at 1230 when the kitchen was about to close! He made sure we were taken care of and gave great recommendations. My only advice is come early so you can get the full menu. We wanted to try the brisket but it was sold out by that time of night. read more

Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, but the service was beyond slow. It was severely understaffed, from greeters to wait staff and as evidenced by the very long time between ordering and the delivery of the food, to the kitchen staff. It had a rustic ambiance, but the air conditioning was set so low two of us were shivering. To top it all off, the restrooms were closed due to water pipe problems, and plumbers were making a huge screeching noise in front of the greeters' desk running an industrial duty snake to clear the problem. They closed the whole restaurant at 6:20 PM because of the plumbing problem. We will never return. read more

The food was OK but i felt i was deceived with their ad sent to my cellphone. here is what it read: Smokey Bones: Rev up for our F1 viewing party! (copied exactly from my cellphone) Now when i read this ad i thought it meant $5 for all you can eat wings. As soon as i went in I asked the hostess if they meant boneless wings? She looked away and said i needed to ask the waitress that would serve me. I think she knew it was false advertizing but didn't want to lose her job so she didn't answer. Then after i got seated, the waitress told me "Oh its the comma that caught you. We have all you can eat wings but that is 14.95. I don't remember the price exactly but i ate my meal pissed off that they wrote an ad designed to decieve me. i wondered if i was being to critical so i asked two other people to look at the ad on my phone and how much they though the all you can eat wings would be. The both said $5.00. I put it in the ad so you can judge for yourself if this was decieving or i was just mistaken. Personally i don't want to eat at a restaurant that plans to do deceptive things to get people in. They also have this huge bowl that looks like a lot of food but the bucket is empty with a grill on the top and the food displayed on the top of the empty bowl. This too me is also deceptive. I really go out to eat to relax and to be happy but feeling deceived made me feel unhappy. So they taught me a lesson. They are the teacher and i am the student. I am a good student. If i want to go out to a restaurant and be happy about it then this is not the place for me. If you would not have been deceived by their ad then maybe this is the place for you. For me the question is, What other deceptive practice do they have that i don't know about? I don't want to go back and find out what those tricks are they would use on me. read more

What a great BBQ Place in Clearwater, Florida on Gulf to Bay Blvd. Brittany was our fantastic server. She was informative, quick, and very friendly. I would go back for her and the food. Met my son for an early dinner. Our server Tristan was very attentive and informative on the menu suggestions. My son had the pretzel bones to start ( I had a bit, so yummy!) We shared the Bonfire for 2 that had Ribs, Sniked wings, steak, chicken breast, smoked sausage peppers & onions and potato wedges. We both had side salads! The Bonfire came out on the cool side with over cooked and tough wings. Tristan fixes us up right away by comping the meal and replacing with some great hot and juicy wings!
