To start, the food was great and our server provided excellent service during our visit. Unfortunately, what happened after we left is what ultimately led me to give this restaurant a one-star review. We are from Michigan, and a few days after returning home, we noticed that our debit card had been charged more than the total on our receipt, including the tip we originally left. Thankfully, I kept my copy of the receipt, as it did not match the amount that was processed. It appears that our server removed an item from our bill and increased the tip without our authorization. I contacted the restaurant as soon as I noticed the discrepancy. The manager on duty at the time was unable to assist with a refund, so I had to call back the following day to speak with another manager. While the second manager assured me the issue would be resolved and suggested the server was unaware of the error, it has now been four days and I have yet to receive a refund. I strongly recommend that anyone dining here keep their receipt and consider taking a photo of the final bill before leaving to help prevent a similar issue. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant in a while. I ordered the smoked turkey plate with salad and sweet potato fries. The salad came out with the food and the portions would not have fed a 5yr old. My husband got ribs and they were ok. Haven't been here in quite some time. Not super busy so we went right in. Good was better than I remembered. I had the wings and our fighters had a Morning Glory burger and a pulled pork sandwich. We had our two grandsons with us and they enjoyed their food and my husband, would love barbecue, was just amazed at how good the ribs and the baked beans were. 3/15/25 Our granddaughter wanted to eat at Smokey bones. We were quickly seated and a waiter was soon at our table. Our granddaughter wanted fried pickles for our appetizer and received loaded French fries we brought that to our waiter's attention and he quickly corrected the issue to bring us fried pickles and take the loaded fries off our bill. Unfortunately we ate the loaded fries because they were good and the fried pickles also. We told our water to leave the loaded fries on our bill because we enjoyed them which he did. I do not like getting something for free if I enjoyed it. If we had not of eaten the loaded fries then I would not have wanted them on my bill. All is good. Our waiter was very nice and got us everything we wanted. For our meal we ordered a combo of meats that come on a wire heated rack. Our food was delicious and we devoured it is why you do not see any before pictures when it was brought to our table. The also for got the grilled chicken so that's why you see the grilled chicken on a separate saucer. Seems like the kitchen might have been off on this particular night but all is good. Back in the mid 2000s, I discovered Smokey Bones as the next BBQ chain. I certainly had some good meals and then one day, so many Smokey Bones closed. How I ever found one in Bowling Green, Kentucky is a mystery. Now with the good and the bad at the end. I went with the Pitmaster's Choice thar came with pulled pork, 1/4 chicken, and ribs. The ribs were the best out of the meats followed by the pulled pork. They were both easy to chew. The chicken was another story though. The leg was small and inedible. It was so tough. The thigh part was better but still a little tough. I asked the waitress the popular sides. She automatically said the beans and they were a magnificent choice! I chose slaw and it was ok but more on the sides in a moment. There are 4 yummy sauces that I could not get enough of. They are KC (tangy ketchup base), a sweet mustard, Chipotle, and Carolina (mild and sweet)., Here is my opinion of what Smokey Bones can do better. 1. That was the most unsweet sweet tea I've ever had. It was smooth but gosh it was definitely made by someone not from the South part of the United States. The waitress told me they even out the sugar for each and well, it needs more sugar. Very weak and not very sweet! 2. While I was ordering, it seemed like I have to upgrade a lot. The plates are already almost $25 or more. Then to add brisket it was more. Then there were 3 tiers of sides with mac and cheese being an extra $5. I can go down the street to another BBQ joint and pay $20 for the Sampler with ribs, pork, chicken, and BRISKET with any 2 sides I want! None of this upgrade or tier junk to pay more. Overall. I enjoyed it and it was pretty good. But the tea and upgrading and tiers compared to competitors, make me want to elsewhere. read more

We each ordered the smooth bourbon blackberry lemonade as well as the brisket grilled cheese with a side of mac and cheese, along with splitting an order of the pretzel bones. Smokey Bones = Applebee's for BBQ. People joke that Applebee's is a restaurant built around a microwave. See my photo for proof that SB is the exact same thing - my lunch was still served in the microwaveable bags. Really??? You might be fooled by the nice interior and large bar, but nothing here is made fresh. My turkey was clearly a processed loaf product heavily injected with a very salty brine. It was so salty as to be almost inedible. The broccoli was good but I can microwave that at home pretty easily. Service was really pleasant, thus 2 stars. We just left there. First time at this location. My husband and I both got the pulled pork combo. My pulled pork was disgusting. It lasted like it was soaked in salt water. When you take a bite it is like you are getting a mouthful of salt water. If I had a health condition like high blood pressure or POTS it could have caused serious problems. I did bring it to the managers attention but he acted like it was just my food. My husband's was salty but not as bad as mine. He likes salt and couldn't eat it. Went last night and the wait was a little bit long considering that there was a bunch of empty tables. We thought at 1st it was due to the Pandemic but they filled up the table while we was there so we wasn't sure exactly why they wasn't filling them up earlier.
