Omgggg I missed out on the shoulder!!!!…read more I saw the ratings on Smokey Pig Bar-BQ and decided to try it while on my cross country trip...Wow these guys know what they're doing. Got the chicken and brisket: perfectly done. So good I didn't have to have sauce! All the sides I tried were scrumptious- mac n cheese, potato salad, mashed potatoes, beans, slaw....everything was done with love. My mouth is watering right now just remembering... And the staff! They were so nice! Aside from the Southern hospitality which I found so refreshing--thanks to the entire state of KY--these gentlemen were genuinely kind and warm. I was out-of-place but they didn't make me feel like it. Thanks guys, I wish your business well! Before writing this review I started reading the others and SOMEHOW I have missed ALL the shoulder rec's. ‍ . Damn it. Wish I can go back there. What an experience!

Tough leather. My wife swears by this place but I've found that it's only because she grew up here and doesn't know any different. Service is okay, though there's not much to say. You order at one window, pickup at the next. Outdoor seating only. I'm fine with the vinegar based BBQ, but the flavor isn't the problem. It's the texture and the toughness. I've found that the only thing that isn't dried out is the basic hotdog and it's exactly that: a small, basic, boiled hot dog. I must say the sides are usually much better than the main dish but still an average of 5/10. You can buy the size in large quantities. I've discussed the quality of the meat with other born-and-raised locals and this is the way it's always been. Like good BBQ? I'd recommend anywhere else.

Great service, good food, low prices!…read more Set in a repurposed gas station, The Dog Pound is a nice spot to grab some good BBQ in Cave City. It may be your only spot, but that's not a knock on it. It was a pleasant August evening, so we grabbed a booth outside beneath the canopy that used to shelter drivers gassing up. The menu is straightforward. I was shocked at how low the prices are, particularly for the quality. The pulled port was good, but the sides is where it's at! Don't miss the cowboy beans which were fantastic! The potato salad was unique in that it let the eggs flavor come through. Plus, they have Ski! Service took maybe five minutes from our order to our table. Also, friendly and helpful! Very impressed!
