My family visited this nice little cafe and had a lovely lunch…read more The decor is very minimal but tasteful-mostly consisting of a stark brick wall adorned with black and white portraits and simple but elegant furniture and fixture and a sprinkle of heart shaped confetti in the window. Not what I would expect from a small town cafe in rural Kentucky! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries were a standout-perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and lightly seasoned with sugar and pepper. The provided dipping sauce was a treat-sweetened whipped cream cheese with vanilla bean. The smallish wrap consisted of quality ingredients-particularly a nice tomato. There was a conservative amount of nicely seasoned but tiny chicken nuggets, more breading than meat. The sauce was excellent and slightly spicier than most versions, which I appreciated. Overall, a delicious if not completely satisfying meal. Would go again.

Funny thing, I lived in the area for about a year and never once ate there. A few years later,…read morefamily moved into the area and they insisted on coming here for dinner. The wait to be seated was minimal and we were given a run down of the specials in case we missed them on the board when we entered. It was not long after we ordered that our plates arrived piping hot and full of flavor, All I wanted was a vegetable platter and there was definitely enough food on the plate to satisfy my hunger and that's not including the muffins/biscuits that were brought to the table. The desserts here, mostly pies are really quite good. I ended up taking a slice home for later with absolutely no complaints. The best part... the pricing! Everything is well priced! The only bad experience is one of the side items was not available. Sometimes you can't win them all, but I definitely will return!

Tough leather. My wife swears by this place but I've found that it's only because she grew up here and doesn't know any different. Service is okay, though there's not much to say. You order at one window, pickup at the next. Outdoor seating only. I'm fine with the vinegar based BBQ, but the flavor isn't the problem. It's the texture and the toughness. I've found that the only thing that isn't dried out is the basic hotdog and it's exactly that: a small, basic, boiled hot dog. I must say the sides are usually much better than the main dish but still an average of 5/10. You can buy the size in large quantities. I've discussed the quality of the meat with other born-and-raised locals and this is the way it's always been. Like good BBQ? I'd recommend anywhere else.

We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy. It's a no-frills space inside but that's what I want in a classic meat and three! There's a menu on the wall with specials and a physical menu a well which was great. Our table had the chicken and dumpling special, fried catfish sandwich, fried okra, mashed and scallop potatoes, green beans, and cornbread. Everything was excellent and you could tell was home cooked. The fish, okra, mashed potatoes and chicken and dumplings were stand outs though. So good! We decided to grab two pies to go to share with some lucky friends, and got the peanut butter fudge and pecan plus a slice of the lemon meringue. Everything was so good but the peanut butter and pecan is very rich (obviously). Both were excellent but we should've grabbed some vanilla ice cream. The lemon meringue was excellent, and if we had known you need to order it in advance to get a whole pie we would've! Now we know for next time. Be sure to stop by The Rose Garden if you are in the area for excellent homemade southern cooking!
