Their prices were very reasonable for the amount of food I received and the food was top notch. I got a rib platter for approx $45 and it was a whole rack of ribs which comes with 4 sides to pick from. I decided to try each of their four sides which was Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, potato salad, and baked beans. They don't slouch in giving portions and I was impressed with perfect seasoned, not even needing any salt. I have had LOTS of barbecue but this place is in a whole different dimension. The meats are smoked to yummy goodness with a nice smoke ring but still moist and tender. I highly recommend skipping the bun on the brisket sandwich and just get it piled high on your plate. We had to learn how to get from the counter to the table. How to order. Very clean and friendly staff. However, never had lunch by the pound. Had to learn that. Meat wasn't warm. But it was generally warm. Had to learn how to get sauce. Use the little cups and get the sauce at the station where the utensils and napkins are. But a woman was standing there and I had to wait for her to move so I could get napkins because only one person can be there at a time. Okay, I don't normally do BBQs, I am not a fan of red sauces. Now Smoke Smith has done it right, because they put the sauce on the side. I have visited the restaurant there times now and every time have enjoyed the artesian smoked brisket. Packed with flavor, most and warm, Every time! I get 1/4 lb of meat, coleslaw, and a draft. The staff is friendly and they have all sorts of condiments, hot sauce, and cutlery available. It's roomy inside and bright. The outside deck is clean, but has a little road noise. It is going to be a place I recommend to friends coming to visit and will be going myself at least once a month. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews are so good. Maybe people haven't had really good to know bad. There were 5 of us that had a variety of brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, mac & cheese and beans. The brisket was dry, fell apart if you bent it in half and was cold. Nice smoke ring, zero flavor. Not sure if they used any rub on it. Pulled pork was moist, cold, extremely bland, again, wondering if they used any rub on it. The mac & cheese was luke warm and bland. Beans were as basic as you can get, a little kick, nothing to write home about. Potato salad was pretty good. Slaw was soupy. They had 3 sauces; vinegar, Carolina and spicy. Not sure there was vinegar in the vinegar. Carolina tasted the same as the "vinegar" and the spicy was not very spicy. They only had salt and pepper in the prepackaged knife, fork, spoon and napkin set, which I probably could have used 3 sets of them to get enough s&p to gain some sort of flavor. The self-busing stations were overflowing with garbage all while the staff was standing behind the counter waiting for people to show up (there was no line). Went for the grand opening and fed the family with the brisket and BBQ sundae. It was delicious and was paired with a nice cold local IPA. The setting is cafeteria style and there is no frills, easy to clean up. The BBQ sauce options are good. Service is great, owners are super fun and want feedback! Friendly greetings when we walked in the front door. Lucky to get in for their soft opening and find some finger licking good grub. Went for a triple hitter with ribs, pulled pork and burnt ends. We were fortunate the owner gave us almost the last portion of the burnt ends which, by far, was our favorite. This represents the best bbq idaho has to offer. Bland and embarrassing to serve. The food was obviously overpriced for the amount and the flavor (nonexistent). Which is what you expect eating out in northern idaho. The mac and cheese tasted like wallpaper. The brisket was stringy and dry. Took forever to chew. The servers told us "you're welcome to start your own restaurant." When we suggested something politely that would be easy for them to implement anyway. The cashier gave me the wrong change back. The bbq sauces themselves were pretty good tho. 1 star for that read more

My wife and I Live in Texas and have enjoyed barbecue in many top rated barbecue restaurants around the state. We are visiting our daughter and her family in Idaho and heard about SmokeSmith. we got Family style brisket, pulled pork, two types of sausage coleslaw, beans and potato salad. They were all excellent. All the meats were as good as the best in Texas. The vegetables were similar enough to common recipes to be familiar, but all with a delicious distinctive twist. The servers were helpful and friendly. The owners did a great job renovating the historic structure. We highly recommend smokeSmith! Neat space, friendly people, the Bar-b-a here was a fabulous! Coming from B-b-q country in NC, we always hope for the best and are usually disappointed. Had a pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw. Bun was super fresh, pork tender and flavorful. Sauces were very good with good variety. Cole slaw was coarse chopped fine, then had light dressing. perfect.
