The the reason I have this place a 4 on food is because I had higher expectations than stale chips as a side! We ate here a year ago and had a great experience. This is our second attempt at eating here this month. Both times we've been ignored when we walk in and wait to be seated. The first time, there was an overwhelming cloud of flies when we entered and neither of the two servers acknowledged us when we came in, even though we were the only people in the restaurant. Tonight there was a table of 9, 3 people at the bar, 2 tables of 2 and a table of 1. There were 3 servers on the floor and no one looked up or acknowledged us after waiting 4 minutes in the doorway. Farmhouse kitchen is right across from the Ruby's hotel. It's in a great location if you're staying at the hotel. The food was really good and the breakfast buffet was amazing. Nice place! We got there right as they opened lunch up on a Sunday mornin', and were advised they didn't have ribs available yet. Made a quick menu perusal, and settled on a 1lb of Wings. I got definitely more than a pound, and they were what I call, 'over-smoked,' which is actually how I like them in a BBQ joint. And when in Rome, always get the Huckleberry BBQ Sauce. Wifey ordered their Mac & Cheese, with a smoked Turkey add-on, and it was pretty decadent. Sides were decent, with their beans holding their own against ones we've had in other joints. This place keeps trying to invent itself and is failing. Went for breakfast once and liked it went back they had decided to do buffet and told us it was over in five minutes. We didn't want to put them out so we left. Had they wanted us they wouldn't have told us. So try and try, went back today no buffet "This is the first day of a new menu," we were told. Waitress was friendly and visited with us. Breakfast absolutely awful and was actually cold. Told the cook when he asked and he said I wonder why I just fixed it. Well I certainly didn't know, but they didn't fix it. Sad because this is a nice setup with tons of potential but never seems to have staff that cares or knows what to do. I hear the same person owned the Savory and it failed for similar reasons both really nice aesthetically but missing ingredients of success. Poor menu planning and highly unorganized. The food was good, but the service was a disaster. The staff were openly unkind to each other, with the servers and hostess bickering and ganging up right in front of customers. Our food took far too long, and when it was finally time to be seated, the hostess acted like it was the biggest inconvenience of her day--hands in her hair, muttering under her breath. We spoke to the manager, hoping for some professionalism, but it was clear they were actually the one fueling the drama. The whole atmosphere felt toxic and uncomfortable. Just FYI, I have only left one other 1 star rating before. Mediocre usually gets a three star because I can find something's I liked about the restaurant. Farmhouse Kitchen was barely a one star tonight. All seemed to start out good, as we were greeted and served our drinks in a timely manner. Our waitress came right away to take our order. After that is when the service took a nose dive. Dinner took 45 minutes to arrive only after we went up and asked about it. We asked another waitress because ours had abandoned our table. Within two minutes of us asking about our food it arrived. (Served by another waitress). Okay, we thought, they must be understaffed in the kitchen. We soon found out our food was all barely lukewarm. By temperature of the food, we surmised it was ready at least 20 minutes before we got it? We were all starving so my wife and I ate our dried out barely warm BBQ. Our daughter had to go up and ask for some hot queso to add to her cold nachos and ask for hot fries to replace the cold ones. Our original waitress said she would see what she could do and ten minutes later (no reorder) our daughter went back up and asked another waitress. She came back two minutes later with hot queso and fries and apologized. (Second time the other waitresses came through). The granddaughter didn't mind her cold Mac and cheese. Our original waitress continued to work the floor but not once came back to our table including us having to go up to the counter and pay our bill with another employee. She did apologize and discounted our bill for the bad experience. Not sure what broke down tonight, but I hope they get it straightened out. I had a bacon cheddar melt which is basically a grilled bacon and cheese and sauteed onions on sourdough bread with home fried potatoes on the side. Their portions were large, and it came with two extra pieces of high quality thick cut hacon (which I don't normally like, but this was very high quality). Would give negative stars if I could. We walked into the restaurant having to sit at a dirty table which was no problem as we were just waiting for them to clean it. As we were waiting two other tables walked in and sat. Then they got there orders places before us, at that point our two toddlers and both of us were just hungry so we let it go. Stopped in this place after day 1 of a long road trip last week and stopping at the Hotel Ruby just a hop and a skip away. Ordered takeout as I was tired and the restaurant was closing within 30 minutes. The Farmhouse Cheeseburger and their house fries are very good. The burger wasn't overcooked, it was delicious, the onions were cooked well, and the fries were decent (and large) for the price. The bartender was friendly enough. You do have to go up to the Bar and order which is different but they we're right on it. Very good at their jobs. Background was comforting decorations, music, and country like atmosphere. Great location with a nice open layout to the restaurant. The first time we ate here the food was great and service was alright. This second time though unfortunately the majority of the food was cold, I would've sent it back but the rest of my party was so hungry that we just ate it as it sat cold. The flavor was there though which was nice, and the three selections of BBQ sauce is fantastic. But the cashier who seemed to be the head employee was rude while taking the order. Based on the lack of reviews, we decided to try this restaurant. Seems it is rebranded, new owners etc. Hence new Yelp page. Make your order at the front counter, they will call you when your order is ready. I ordered the Farmhouse cheeseburger with fries. And yes, my IPA. They rotate the taps, so I got the Bodhiza. Food didn't take long. Good solid hamburger with good beef, not too much fat-so they have balanced this well. Pickles were sweet, fries were crisp not burnt. Restroom are well maintained. A location without a review usually piques my interest. I found Farmhouse Kitchen a great stop for a casual lunch. New owner, great staff, this is an order at the bar and pick up yourself restaurant. The brisket lunch served with a choice of several BBQ sauce options was easy to cut with a fork. The coleslaw was crispy and not swimming in Mayo and French fries tasty and hot. It has a fast food presence on the inside except for the full bar and draft beer behind the counter. We called for take out. Glad we did. Not appeal to sticking around and enjoying a meal inside. The food was awful! The ribs and chicken were so tough your jaw ached by the time you were done chewing. The brisket was ok, but I've had way better. Also ordered a side of coleslaw that wasn't even in the bag, who is going to go back to get it, that's the whole point of takeout. I was only in town for a couple of nights.
