Decent spot to grab anything from chili cheese fries to a hotdog, burger, chicken sandwich, shake, etc. parking can be very limited and tricky. Service is easy going- you walk up place your order, handed a buzzer, find a seat either indoor or outdoor. And once your buzzer goes off you walk up to the window and grab your order. I usually get the grilled chicken sando with fries and a drink. Ambiance is basically a grab and go or grab and sit burger spot. A must try if in the area- it's a classic for the area.

My friend recommended this place. They have a lot of options. You can order grab and go or there is seatinf outside. I like that they have dairy free milkshakes. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwhich and fish sandwich. I loved the fish sandwich the chicken one was okay. I also tried the fries which were good. The bbq sauce was so smokey and good. Overall a great place for a quick meal. The customer service was great as well.

Drove past this cute little spots several times now and finally decided to give it a shot. We ordered a double cheeseburger, large fries, and the double dog. The food was really good, burger was perfectly cooked and delicious. The fries were also really good. I am not the biggest fan of thick cut fries but these were good -- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The double dog was also good 2 standard hot dogs but it gets the job done. I was also pleasantly surprised by how large the hot dogs were. The food did take a bit longer than I was anticipating but it was fine as we were in no rush. When we did get the food everything was fresh and cooked to perfection so no complaints here. The ambiance was really nice (they have both indoor and outdoor seating) with some grass and string lights set up outside. The food was also fairly priced, will definitely be coming back!

Had a cheese dog with everything. Don't! The mustard, relish, and onions overwhelmed the dog. Just be advised. Fries are good but needed to be salted

Late night double cheese burger hit the spot! Last time I went with the chili dog. Still think NY dogs rule though.

Solid burgers! The burger off the BBQ grill ... so great. It was a longish wait for our takeout order but worth the wait. It was a real treat to get chili on my burger. Thumbs up!

Omg! How can you beat the prices and flavor from this place?! They offer hot dogs, burgers, and shakes. Nothing fancy and straight to the point. You can also mix and match shake flavors at no additional charge which is always a good choice. They have outdoor and indoor seating and a small grass area if you so incline to have your own picnic. The burgers were yummy, my only wish is for the bun to be a bit more toasted so it didn't become so soggy so fast. The shakes were nice and thick! The onion rings were perfectly crispy. We can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.

Super great prices. Totally see why this place is popular. We stopped here following the crowd, we seen a long line of customers queuing and figured we needed to see what the hype was about. They had all kinds of burgers, hotdogs and sides. I also loved to see the non meat options like impossible burgers. Also offered free of charge were add ons such as chili, extra cheese, peppers etc. which was a nice touch. The fries were really good. We got a large since we were sharing. The portion size was unexpectedly huge, easily enough for three people to share. As for my fiancés normal cheese burger, he loved it. I chose the impossible since I don't eat beef and it wasn't my favorite. This was not my first time trying an impossible burger, but something about the texture and quality of burger was off. It also didn't taste of flamed grill despite the large firey grill we noticed it being cooked on. The cheese was also a bit strange, it was not vegan cheese it melted some but didn't look or taste like normal American cheese either. Im a sucker for a banana milkshake and was happy to see it on the menu. I didn't like it much either, It didn't taste like bananas at all and was not thick enough. They also have non dairy milkshakes.

Hamburger with a ton of fixings.

Smokehouse is a joint I first tried when I was a wee lad (an 11 year old Oakland kid). When I moved back to Oakland years ago, I saw that their location had received a face lift and even expanded their menu offerings. When you think Smokehouse, think 1950's burger joint fare with a slight twist. This spot serves fresh burgers, milkshakes, heaps of French fries, and hotdogs amongst a few a other items. The twist is that they also have solid vegan and dairy free offerings including an impossible burger, vegan cheese, and vegan milkshakes. I stopped by a few weeks ago after a night out to cap the evening off with a late night burger. They never disappoint here and your order comes out relatively quickly. You're welcome to munch on it outside or at the benches in the back. My burger was smoky, packed with toppings, and juicy. While you can definitely get a more gourmet burger in the Bay, it's hard to beat the price point here. I'm a sucker for good value and they do not disappoint! I also have to say that their vegan shakes are great and quite affordable. If you're looking for a late night burger joint that offers causal vibes and a great way to end the night, then look no further than smokehouse.

On the hunt for yummy milkshakes and found this gem. From the front, it looks like a grab and go / takeout only spot but there's actually covered seating as well! You order with someone at the front and pick up around the side. There's also a bathroom available. We ordered the banana milkshake with oreo bits! It took a while to be ready, but on our drive back to sf, we finished it and wanted another one. (Side note: we went to get another banana shake somewhere else and was disappointed). Will definitely return to Smokehouse whenever I'm in Berkeley and would be down to try their food next time too!

Hi Sally S! Is there a way I can get in touch with you directly regarding the Smokehouse? Thank you!

Hello! Feel free to text our store @ 510-845-3640. A team member will give you a direct private channel to contact management. Thank you!

What delivery options will be available when they re-open? DoorDash showed unavailable during the soft opening?

Nobody knows for certain yet, they were super super busy during their re-opening and there were issues with their planned online ordering system. They have closed for a week to figure all this out and will be relaunching December 7th.

Are there open? Since the fire or are they closed for good?

Hi Maria, we had a soft-opening from Friday 11/27-Monday 11/30. Our grand opening is December 7th. We are closed until then to make the changes we learned from our soft-opening. Thanks for your patience!

Does anyone know if they are ever going to reopen? The date just keeps getting pushed out further and further :(

    Any updates on the re-opening?!

Drove by 1/5/2020 and though Yelp is saying they're open still the green fence around the place and closed. So sad really looking forward to them opening up again.

Hello, anyone know if it's open yet?

Thank you for the update Sally, we are eager and continue to keep an eye out. Understandable that, that is how those things go (with the grill and all). Best of luck, hoping November is the month. Fingers crossed!

Dipping them into the habanero mayo gave it just the right kick. Definitely recommend that combo. The staff was friendly and kept things cool even though there were only two or three people running the place. The spot itself is small, just a few tables and chairs, with a little bit of Latin music playing in the background, which gave it a nice touch. When I first got there, it wasn't too busy, but by the time I finished, it was filling up. Walked around the block to stretch out, came back 15 minutes later, and the place was packed. What's also impressive is that their fried chicken sandwich was voted one of Yelp's Top 50 Fried Chicken Sandwiches in California, ranking #33 in the state. That's what I'm definitely trying next time. Final verdict: Great burger, great onion rings, friendly service, and a spot worth checking out if you're around University Ave in Berkeley. Two thumbs up from me.

I wish the tasters were bigger, and wish they gave you something to track the different beers, because it's easy to get them mixed the way they serve them one-by-one. I wish they served them all at once as well, because I received my beers piecemeal, with one showing up 10 minutes after my other beers had arrived. On the food front, I got the al pastor fish tacos and tried the fish & chips. The Al pastor fish tacos were excellent, but the fries it came with were stale. The fish & chips were ok, a bit bland but well cooked. Like the beers, all of our food came out very piecemeal, with one item coming 10 minutes after everything else had come. Overall, it felt like the service was a bit hit or miss; the staff is nice but it was hard to get their attention, which I would attribute to them being spread thin. The tossed salad was decent; the lettuce was heavily coated with oily dressing, which I think could have used more acidity. The Fun-Gi pizza was our favorite of the two pies - the hint of truffle oil and rosemary took this mushroom pizza to the next level. I also loved the light and airy crust, which had the perfect amount of crispiness. I wasn't as much of a fan of the Spicy Tomato pizza; while I really liked the unexpected sweetness from the tapenade, the cashew cream drizzle seemed out-of-place. We raced to see who could complete the word searches, rated our food, and enjoyed each other's company while watching the rain fall. 10/10 we would do it again.

The burgers looked really good, too (they are known for that, after all). Service was fast and fantastic! And the space is quaint. Love the frames and hardwood floors. Have to try the burgers next time....

Unfortunately the food was just as bad and overpriced as the first time, I really don't understand how this place is so well reviewed. We both ordered 310 Burgers, one on the regular brioche bun and one on a lettuce wrap. The lettuce wrap came in two steamed, wilted pieces of iceberg, while the brioche bun was untoasted, foamy-textured and soggy. Both medium burgers had the consistency of boiled meatballs. The bacon jam was decent, but the overall experience was wildly unappetizing. We also both got plain fries, which were somehow greasy and dry at the same time, and instantly turned stale as they cooled down. We really hoped for this place because it's conveniently located, and all the other decent burger spots nearby have closed, but sadly we won't be giving 310 Eatery a third try.
