Sweet couple ready to retire and sell the property. If you are looking for an established classic BBQ palace you should stop by. The brick pits with their seasoned walls are hard to duplicate. The amazing aroma will make your tummy growl while you wait to be served on the cafeteria style food trays and waxed paper. This type atmosphere has been attempted duplication by the big chains with mediocre success. Brisket was mediocre, ribs were great, ham also great. Fried pie reminded me of Nanny's ummy , coleslaw was good and potato salad different and wonderful. Service was awesome. read more

MUCH love for this place!!! We all had the brisket and sausage plate, complete with slaw, potato salad, and beans. I was really happy they gave me onions and pickles, because that's a TX bbq must have!! The meat was all fantastic, and I LOVED the sauce. Not sweet, with plenty of spice. Perfect. I'm in the beef industry, so I know beef. This was great. The cole slaw was perfectly tangy, cabbage was fresh. And again, not sweet. I don't like sweet slaw. Potato salad was SO unique! Never had anything like it and I LOVED it!! Super friendly couple owns it, shop local!!! We will definitely be back in our next trip through. read more

If You Are Driving Thru Hamilton, I Hope You Ignore My Review & Give Them Some Business I hate writing this review because I had a heartfelt exchange with the lady owner. Within a minute of walking Through the door, it was obvious she has a good heart, and I hate saying negative things that are hurtful to good people. With that being said, here is my review...the brisket was dry, over cooked and old (older than cooked yesterday), as were the ribs. The color of the ribs looked weird - they were yellow, I expected them to be some variant of smokey brown. Seasoning on the ribs was also an issue - I liberally season my food with salt so I am acclimated to salty food, however the salt on the ribs seared my tongue. I expect that the root cause of the food problems is very slow turn over. It has to be a real struggle to sell any sort of volume in a tiny farming community, during the worst drought in over 100 years. So, this is one time when I really hope you ignore my review. After all, I am much more critical about food than most people, and it is worth stopping just for the interaction with the owners. Remember also, the positive reviews about the German style slaw and potato salad (i really wish I had tried both)...and the fried pies made with home grown fruit. Finally, when leaving I noticed the empty tip jar, so I ask you to please leave some money in the tip jar...if for no other reason than to help with the struggle. read more

You don't find places like this anymore. This place smokes beef in a vintage brick pit. Unfortunately the meat I had been smoked yesterday. Otherwise this is a 5 star place. The sides were good as well - beans with pieces of beef in it, German style slaw with vinegar and celery seeds, and potato salad. This is the atmosphere that the chains try to recreate. read more

I got to say. This place was just what we were looking for. The couple that ran the place were very friendly. The food was very good. The place was a little smokey from the pit but I was ok with that. You have to try the fried pies. They are amazing. The brisket was moist and flavorful. Mom&pop barbecue shop. Very dimly lit and I inviting atmosphere. I ordered meat by the pound and the woman touched every piece of meat with her bare hands - a direct violation of Texas health code. Once I got over the face that she touched all of our cooked food with her bare hands and tried the meat, the brisket was terribly dry. The ham was flavorless and the sausage was below average. I agree with another reviewer that I hate to give a bad review to a very nice couple trying to run a small business. However I think people do rely on these reviews when traveling, as we did. The sliced brisket I had was wonderful as was my husband's ham. HIs sausage was dry. The beans were also good. The cole slaw and potato salad were very salty and cole slaw had too much vinegar (although we usually like vinegar based slaw). Typically Texas BBQ restaurants serve lots of food for reasonable prices. These servings were sufficient but the price was higher than is typical. read more

Doesn't allow CHL. Went to Central Perk. Since they don't allow CHL carriers we decided to go up the street a block to Central Perk that was a great atmosphere and great food. read more

Good BBQ in a small town. An older couple runs the small restaurant. Food is served on those ole plastic lunch trays. The chopped beef sandwich was very good. The sausage and sides were very tasty. read more

We stopped here on the way to Marble Falls and were very happy we did. We had a pound of amazing, moist brisket. Definitely solid A. Ribs were ok, but slaw for my taste was right on. We arrived around 1:30 pm and were the only clients at the time. Bottom line - liked it a lot and would come back. read more

Because of the reviews, I took a chance on this place during a slow time, appx 2:00 pm., and we were the only customers. I expected a sweet old lady and instead got a rude "What do you want." She was impatient with us ordering (which was difficult off a board that didn't look updated in 30 years...prices missing, etc). We ordered brisket (very dry and crunchy) and beans (tasteless sludge with more sludge than actual beans). When bringing our order, she plopped the food down and walked off. Meat by the pound doesn't come with any bread to make sandwiches. When we asked for silverware (plastic) for our kids we were told that "Silverware is for the adults." Ummmm....okay. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I guess at least the husband told us thank you on our way out. We promptly went to Dairy Queen where we had quite a nice meal with extremely helpful food service. read more
