STAY AWAY - THIS PLACE IS TOTALLY BOGUS!!! Was in there almost a month ago, my friend and I both bought a Spinner II vaporizer, for around $30, (whereas everywhere else its closer to $20). EACH BROKE WITHIN A MONTH! called to ask if there was anything he could do, said they do not do exchanges or returns, EVEN IF THEY SELL COMPLETE GARBAGE! A bit off the beaten path for someone from my neighborhood, however Ryan at Smoke Dreams was extremely helpful and was very understanding of my long hiatus to the art. We didn't spend more than 30 minutes in the store, but we were very pleased with service and selection. The knowledgeable and friendly staff made it a great experience for the us, the two rusty old dudes who were longing for a revitalization. They do have excellent glass pieces, and a few hysterical pieces with cartoon dragons in them...I really did want one, but I went with a heavy weight and sturdy blown glass piece instead. I happened to stumble across this place on my way to a Navy surplus store further up Broadway. On a lark I decided to check out this store's prices and merchandise since I had coincidentally ran out of tobacco and papers the night before. And boy was I glad I did, Smoke Dreams not only had low prices on Zig-Zag rolling papers and tobacco tins they also sold me a very inexpensive rolling machine to take most of the guesswork out of rolling my own cigarettes. Their selection in glass-wares by the way, voluminous! Best of all their staff was very helpful and friendly, which is something I value highly in a store these days. In the two years I've been coming here I've never been rude too, or regretted my coming here and I doubt you will either. read more

Tony, the GAY man that I interacted with was one of the nicest, most laid back people I have ever had the chance to experience (when dealing with customer service). He was totally cool with me, very talkative and not FAKE like most store workers are (aka forced to be cheerful by their boss). I say this because, as Tony told me, he is LEGALLY applied to kick anyone out who is trying to buy anything illegal to smoke his products with- therefor; when he tries to HELP someone who is whispering to him "can I ask you a question?" The shop was clean and open and I even made a small purchase.The big burly bearded guy however was no expert on customer service. A good KISS song came on the radio and he blasted the music, then preceded to yell the total of my purchase. That's forgivable....it was a good song. The disappointment came upon exiting where he yelled "FAGGOT" as the door closed behind me. Although not untrue, I find it very insulting not to mention in extremely poor taste for a business person to treat their paying customers that's way. Needless to say, I won't be back. These are the worst retail establishment I have ever dealt with. I had the misfortune to have dealt with them in the past and while being a horrible experience then I am not going to even go there since some time has passed. I broke a piece of my pipe and their store being in so close proximity to me I was lazy and walked into that store the one employee greeted me and asked if he could help and I'm surprised things are going well so far. Well I brought the broken piece of my pipe with and handed it to him and I asked for a replacement. His response was no problem but you will need 2 pieces not one being one end of the part would be different but it would not affect the performance of the pipe. I took the parts home and tried to put the pipe back together only to find it wasn't even close. I didn't even anticipate a issue with the store because less than a hour has passed. I WAS SO WRONG and Totally surprised again when he then claimed all sales were final and there's a no refund under any circumstances policy. I then left the parts there along with the wasted 40.00 I just spent. I figured best solution was to stand in front and tell potential patrons of the business. The most convenient and closest tobacco store for me, even though I'm all the way up in Rogers Park. I'm usually heading to the Aldi, and once they finish that Target I'm probably gonna be in here more. I usually pop in to buy tobacco stuff (no, seriously)--filtered tubes, pouches or tins. Since I'm usually so in and out I rarely browse their selection, but they do have a good amount of hookah flavors and blunt papers. Went here for the first time today for a new tobacco pipe. Thought it was a bit pricey and once I found one that I really liked, saw it was $35. It was something I would've paid $25 tops for in my old town. I was iffy and kept looking and the guy asked me if it was because of the price. When I told him it was, he said he would sell it for $29. Even if it wasn't a lot, it meant a lot to me since I loved this piece so much and he could see that. This has to be one of the best shops I have ever been in. I have been to many of the local smoke shops (head shops) in Chicago and this is by far my favorite. From the massive collection of wraps to the insane bowls this place is the smokers paradise. The place is easy to find and they even have a huge sign on the building if you come in ridding the L. Best shop of its kind around, no question. Came here to purchase a gift for a friend, a novelty one-hit tobacco pipe, made of ceramic and shaped and colored so that it appears to be a conventional filtered cigarette. Obviously, for those trying to ween down their addiction to the highly noxious tobacco plant, which remains lethal and legal, and produced by wealthy, powerful and politically-connected corporations, unlike much more benign plants. Great selection of similarly-intended products, including bonafide works of glassblown art that sell for hundreds of dollars. When I went to pick out my pipe, the clerk (and/or proprietor?), wearing a G. G. Allin t-shirt underneath a denim jacket, demonstrated how one variety was self-cleaning: "Self-cleaning. It cleans itself, man! Like a cat!" There's nothing more American than a place like this existing, in the perpetually soon-to-be-gentrified bowel of Uptown on top of that. I have shopped at this store several times over the past three years I have lived in the Neighborhood. Thinking back on my visits I don't think, anyone has ever greeted me with a smile. My last visit I spent $329.62, I was told I was being sold a top of the line high quality vaporizer and When I cashed out. (I was being cashed out by the guy with beard named buck or buddy) This guy told me To hold onto the receipt because the product came with a warranty he even taped the receipt to the outside of the box so I would not loose it. Three and a half months later the product I purchased stopped working. I contacted the Manufacturer and was told to contact the store. I brought everything that came with it back into the store tonight hoping they would exchange the product, The guy working, ignored me when I walked in. I was also the only person in the store. I explained what happened and he asked me who sold it to me. He then said "well he was fired for lying to customers. He then told me that all sales where final. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to. He said he was brand new and didn't know anyone else who worked there. I then said well I can i at least get the owners name. He then called the owner explained what going on. I was then told. They would do nothing for me. I told the guy working in the store that is was shame that they had such a strict policy because they would be loosing my business. I have probably spent a couple thousand dollars there over the past three years. He responded with "good, we don't care if you come back here, you need to call the F wording manufacture. I responded with excuse me I am a customer and you are the employee you have not business speaking to me that way. He responded with F word you! and walked to the back of the store. This is my second Yelp of all time (first one i was a little buzzed when I posted so i don't like to count it) But i will. I don't normally like to give people bad reviews because I understand that we all have bad days but please stay away from this store. I wouldn't even buy a lighter from them. They have a zero return policy and sell products you can find cheaper and better quality someplace else. Putting aside the fact that the salesman (not the owner) was very cool with me, I will give this store 1 star; not because it sucks, but because the owner sucks as an individual, and first and foremost, as a salesman. I mean, it is his business, but the fact that the guy was very rude to other costumers (as pointed out in other reviews) and kept a bad attitude all the time just let me wonder if I should even come back to this place. Yes, this place is overpriced, and expect prices to change all of the sudden - if you are dealing with the old white guy who always wear a hat and keeps a "don't deal with me" attitude.
