When I bought a defective CBD cartridge from a different store that didn't want to help me, i called up Smoking Amsterdam. Abdul told me that he could help. I went in and he helped me transfer the CBD oil out of the defective cartridge and into a working one. I wish all customer service interactions were like the one i had at Smoking Amsterdam. I only got the cartridge and a new vape battery but they had a wide selection of smoking related goods. I'll definitely be back. This place is great and the service is awesome, the guy who normally works always knows what I am in for. It's a popular item so most places run out frequently but they rarely do. If they happen to be out he will come out if I am passing by and let me know when it's back in stock. They are also priced right which is rare with some smaller shops. I moved up to Lakeview in January and these guys were the first shop I walked into and I haven't gone anywhere else since. Saiid helped me pick out a water pipe and was very helpful with the choices available. Now every time I walk in and I'm greeted with a smile and a "How are you doing today my friend?" this place is beyond welcoming. I regularly go in to buy vape products and such, but it feels like they are constantly acquiring the latest and greatest in vapor technology that they always seem to surprise me. Now I understand why there were never any shoppers in here every time I passed by. Super overpriced and the shop clerks are skeezy as hell. I went in asking for a simple grinder. First the guy behind the counter started ringing me up for the most expensive one (almost $60) without even asking my price range. When I told him that was too much, he grabbed a cheap-looking one and charged me $20. The whole time he was going on in an Indian accent so thick I had no idea what he was saying, so I just smiled and nodded and got the hell out. Got home and the grinder was labeled as $10, not $20. Ooookay. Tried calling the store, first, but the number wasn't in service. I realized I didn't get a receipt, either, so I had to hoof it back to the store while the same guy was working. This clerk straight-out denied that he had overcharged me and started to argue with me when I protested. Then he offered to give me a free $2 lighter like he was being a huge saint. When I asked to return the grinder altogether, he said they didn't take merchandise back...even though there was no sign or any indication of this ANYWHERE in the store (we both looked) or on the receipt I didn't get. I was visibly mad at this point, but instead of offering anything close to an apology the guy then tried to push me into spending more money at the store, hinting he would let me return the grinder if I shelled out $20 for a more expensive grinder. Still in his accent so thick I can't understand him while he's yelling at me. After 20 minutes I just gave up and left with a couple of free lighters (woo hoo), but I still can't believe how fantastically rude this man was. Don't even get me started on the filtered review that is blatantly the owner trying to Yelp his own shit. Oy. tl, dr: Go to one of the many decent smoke shops on Clark instead. read more

So horrible. They have some pipes that I liked, but they were $60 over what they are worth. I was going back to look at the larger and higher quality water pipes in the back and he YELLED at me and told me not to go back there... This area was obviously for shoppers, but maybe he didn't trust me? I've been here a few times and I'm disappointed every time. Hopefully Yelp will help run this place out of business...absolutely the worst customer service of any smoke shop I've ever been to. Upon presenting my Belly code for the "free $15 glass pipe with any purchase" 'Bite', I was blatantly lied to by the clerk, who seemed to have about as much experience in a head shop as Rahm Emmanuel, and denied the clearly outlined deal. I will not be returning to Smoking Amsterdam EVER AGAIN. Everyone I know who goes to head shops in the city has been notified of this atrocity of a smoke shop. I went into this place last sunday to get an e-cig. I ended spending $30 on a rechargeable cig and $10 on some flavored cartridges. When i got home i tried it out and it didnt work at all. After being in this place for the initial purchase i had little hope i would get a refund or any type of help, well i was absolutely right! I returned with the product in full packaging and started to explain that it didnt work. Before i could finish the clerk cut me off and said "no refunds." My girlfriend asked if he wanted to check it out to see if it worked or not, again, "no refunds." It seems to be the only sentence this guy could put together. No advice, no questions or inspection of the product, no apology, nothing but those two words! I left immediately for fear that i would do something illegal to this man. Left the cig and cartridges right on the counter for him also. In a city with what seems like 1,000 smoke shops, dont give a penny to this dummy. Give your hard earned money to a shop that cares about customers and the community around them. These guys clearly do not. Also, for the pot heads out there, the glass was way overpriced! read more

I entered this place to get a replacement piece for my incredibowl that I purchased earlier this week. After the worker realized that he did not have the piece I was looking for, he became extremely rude, unhelpful, and clearly was not in the mood to deal with customers. They had several "Belly" cards on display for customers to take, so I scanned one to create an account, not knowing you had to that you had to 'buy something' to do so. The worker told me that they weren't a "charity," and that I had to buy something even after I offered to give the "Belly" card back. He ultimately forced me to buy something before I could leave the shop and refused to tell me what the cheapest thing they had in the store. Terrible customer service. Terrible place. read more

Asked the price of a glass piece while buying a cigar after I heard the price I said I would pass. The guy takes the glass piece off the counter put it back then when I turned around he rang it up and put it in the bag as if I wouldn't notice. After I told him that I saw what he did he told me I never refused the item. Then told me he would ring me up again for the correct item and refund back the glass piece. Just looked at my bank account and guess what....NO REFUND. I will be calling my bank after I post this review! read more
