Finally hit Smoke Daddy over the weekend. Ps Google said 10 pm which is their standard hours but they will stay open depending on the crowd. Luckily they stayed open until 11pm this day! But overall, very satisfied... just oneeee crucial downfall IMO, which drops a star for me. I started with a spicy mango margarita from their curated drink menu. It was delicious!! Perfect IMO. So honestly I'd come here for drinks and live music to get that. We did the grilled wings app. Not the best wings I've ever had but very solid for grilled wings (which was a nice healthier option from fried). Good seasoning and char. Honestly preferred them without sauce. Then we split the ribs combo platter with pulled pork, burnt ends, sweet potato fries and cornbread. The meat was all cooked perfectly and had great smoke flavor. The burnt ends weren't the typical chopped style like I normally see but more shredded. The SPF were good... I prefer salty but these were a sweet rendition with brown sugar. Still good and came piping hot, just not our preference. The cornbread was bomb... probably the best I've had in a long time! Wish it automatically came with the platter so we could try the other sides but worth the choice. It had crispy edges from the pan and jalapeños throughout (but not spicy). Now here's my critique... honestly wasn't really a fan of any of the sauces which is huge for a BBQ joint. The "hot" sauces had ZERO heat. I added the extra hot sauce to get even the slightest kick, which wasn't much and the flavors fell flat. My husband agreed. Also, the pulled meats came already sauced which we didn't appreciate. In the future, I would request they don't do that since the sauces are on the table anyway. In sum - Now we're bbq snobs and have tried our fair share of bbq around the country, this is a solid choice for the meat quality and cornbread but the sauces could use some work. read more

I had a pretty good experience here. I got the STL style ribs (half) with a side of Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. I'm from St. Louis so I had high expectations for these ribs and they were good. They were a little on the dry side, but still tasty. My sweet potato fries were meh and not crispy at all. The Mac and cheese however was the star of the show in my opinion. They were so creamy and noodles cooked to perfection. I will definitely be getting that again. I was a little disappointed with service. The others in my party got the "Taste of daddy" platter, which allows you to choose two types of meats, but they ran out of one type and didn't ask them what they wanted instead they just gave them double of the same thing. Bottomless brunch? More like bottomless bust! We came with the hopes of having a bomb ass bottomless brunch and ended up leaving fuming with a bad taste in our mouth. They seated our party of 3 near two other big parties of about 10-12 people each. We felt neglected by our waiter who kept bringing drinks to the other two tables and would just ignore us. My partner waited 45 minutes for his first drink that we had to remind the waiter about twice. The waiter said their punch was out but they had just made a new batch and would be out in 5 minutes. It actually took 45 minutes, all the while we watched the waiter bring punch to the other larger tables though. So not sure what the issue was. Overall, miserable experience. The other larger tables were commandeering the space and were being given preferential treatment. The waiter ignored us and the other large tables kept taking up all the attention of the waiter so overall everyone there, the staff and other patrons were both treating us like we didn't exist and didn't matter. We ended up asking to pay for our items and cancelling the bottomless so we could just leave. We got 1-2 drinks each and never even got the brunch platter after an hour of being there. Won't be going back because we were treated like we didn't matter and service was awful. Maybe don't seat us near the largest parties in the restaurant if there's only one waiter in that section? Don't go here if you want to have a good experience. Brunch was bust. read more

Smoke daddy is bringing the HEAT with delicious BBQ, beautiful ambiance, and amazing service. I tried the ribs and Mac and cheese- essentially the must haves for any BBQ feast. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and super juicy. The max and cheese was nice and creamy- highly recommend both. Also washed it down with a mango and habanero cider with a shot of mezcal. I think this is one of the best brunch deals you can get in Wicker Park. We got so much good food! Our favorites were the monkey bread and nachos (pictures added.) I loved being able to try the four different barbecue sauces on the table to see which paired best with our food (my fave is the mustard.) Service staff was attentive and nice.
