The food was solid. We got plenty of food to share: beef ribs and chicken. The cornbread was fluffy; I loved all the different Barbecue sauces. Everything was good even the Mac and Cheese. I had a great date night at smoke daddy, and was pleasantly surprised by their happy hour that runs until 7pm. I love that they offer beers on tap from Perch brewery, the kick, push hazy IPA is my fave. I got a boiler maker ($4 beer +$2 tequila shot) since there was a happy hour deal. The smoked chicken wings were half off for happy hour, and they were incredible. They were so tender and came right off the bone, and had so much flavor with the sauce. The taste of the daddy with baby back ribs, burnt ends, Cole slaw, and sweet potatoes fries hit the spot. The sweet potatoes fries tasted like churros since there was a hint of cinnamon. The baby back ribs were really tender. The burnt ends were delicious and tender as well. The BBQ sauces were solid, nothing mind-blowing but still good. The surprising standout dish was the cole slaw, the dressing had a nice cilantro taste and it's made fresh to order. The vibe was chill sports bar. Almost cafe-esque since the music was quiet and you could hear the murmurs of other patrons chit-chatting, which I enjoyed. It was surprisingly populated for a Wednesday night, but did not need a reservation for two. They have a double door entrance, and we were able to be sat all the way inside, which is great for winters because you don't get a cold blast whenever the entrance door is opened. That explains why this location feels chaotic, disorganized, and inconsistent! ** Inconsistent. - Last Sunday my wife ordered the club sandwich, I ordered the bottomless brunch. - This Sunday, oh sorry sir we can't allow you to order the bottomless brunch and your wife order something different. Our policy (that clearly has never been enforced) is everyone at the table has to order the bottomless brunch to prevent sharing. This is one example of pervasive inconsistency. There's a consistent pattern of inconsistency within the management team, quality of food, and level of service provided. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but felt this experience needed to be shared. We've been ordering from Smoke Daddy for years and have always enjoyed the food until now. I recently ordered two soups, and both containers were only half full. When I called to ask about it, the young woman I spoke with apologized but said they only serve 10 ounces. She suggested I reach out to Uber Eats, even after I explained that Uber Eats directed me back to the restaurant since they're just the delivery service. What's frustrating is that Smoke Daddy didn't offer any solutions or take responsibility. The staff insisted that 10 ounces is their standard, but that doesn't match what I've consistently received in the past. Every time we've ordered before, the containers were full because it was clearly a bowl, not a cup. It's disappointing to feel dismissed by a place we've supported for years. There are plenty of other BBQ restaurants in the city that offer great food and treat their customers with more care. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve both their customer service and consistency. read more

Have been eyeballing this place for quite some time now and decided to drop in with my daughters today. We were seated right away. It took a while for our server Bridget to come over but when she did she gave us the menu/sauce rundown when we told her it was our first time there. We ordered then our drinks and already knew what we wanted because she took so long to get to the table. We ordered : BBQ Mac daddy, BBQ burger, Smoked Meat plate and a southwest salad with chicken( I asked for no tomato). Drinks came quickly. The food came about 15 minutes later except my salad had tomato. The busser/food runner saw my face when I saw the tomato and asked if I'd like it sent back. Normally if it's large grape tomato's I'd just pick them out myself but they were chopped and mixed throughout the salad so I said yes. He took the salad to be remade. More than 20 minutes later after my family had completed theirs meals, my salad came. The server had not been to our table once in that time. Once my salad came out she came over and looked at it and said "oh good, sorry about that! More drinks? " my husband ordered another beer. Then she never came back. We sat for so long after my salad was finished I had to go and find her at the bar to ask for the check. She came walking towards us and then went to a different table with our check in hand. The server/busser saw us all staring ( by this time we had to leave because we had somewhere to be) and came over and asked if we needed anything and we told him the check. He went and grabbed it from her, processed it and dropped it with us. The service was horrible. The food- mid. The pulled chicken was pretty flavorless 3 outta 10. The brisket was delicious, 8 outta 10. Mac and cheese was good as well. The sauces are made in house and were delicious as well. We would probably come back just to try dessert because we didn't have enough time to order it during our visit, had the server been time efficient we absolutely would have ordered all 3 desserts. 3 stars because I love outdoor seating, when my salad finally came it was decent and the brisket was good. Today, we were downtown Chicago and decided to grab lunch. We chose Smoke Daddy BBq. Initially walking in, you see a classic bbq style joint with a bar and plenty of seating. We were immediately greeted and sat. Their menu is a typical bbq restaurant with various meat platters and sandwiches. We chose a Daddy-O sandwich and a 2 meat platter with ribs. Also, we started with an appetizer of smoked wings. The smoked wings are really good along with their chipotle mayo type dipping sauce. It's worth getting for sure...crispy on the outside and juicy kn the inside. The Daddy-O sandwich has good flavor, and the brisket was tender. Unfortunately, the various meat and rib platters were worth 2.5 stars. The ribs were flavored well with hints of smoke... but they were cold when they arrived. Everything seemed like it had been under a warmer for a few hours. The pulled pork was slightly dry but decent. The burnt ends were completely dried out and not good at all. I do not recommend it at all. The cornbread is moist and buttery, very delicious. The baked beans with pulled pork were very savory and amazing! Unfortunately, the whole bbq platter was dried out on the main courses. None of the people at our table liked any of the house bbq sauces. Spicy sauce wasn't hot at all, and the other 3 tasted like pure molasses. Blah. Overall, I'd recommend Smoke Daddy maybe for their sandwiches but stay clear of the platter.
