food - respectfully mid. the flavor was alright but what really threw me off was how dry the meat was. it wasn't hard to chew, and it did come off the bone easily, but it tasted dry and burnt like a campfire. we ordered the smoke daddy rib platter, and of the three I think the ends was the best (least dry). price was standard ambiance - neon lights, countryish music, bar vibes. service - good, the waitress was super nice but service was kinda slow, probs cus she had sm to do read more

I think this place is a skip for me. This particular style of BBQ isn't what I've grown accustomed to having and so that's on me. $35 or so for a half rack of ribs, some brisket, some burnt ends and with sides of cornbread as well as mac and cheese. It's a lot of food for a lunch and all the meats were already slathered with sauce so unfortunately, a lot of the flavor for me was in the bbq sauce and not in the meat itself. But will say that the brisket was tender, the ribs fell off the bone, and the burnt ends were... well... what you'd expect read more

I love the food, especially the Burnt Ends. Service was great - Parker and Colleen are awesome! This review would have been 5 stars, but I was very disappointed when we heard the menu had changed. Now, all plates are al la carte, and they took Sweet Potato Fries and hush puppies off the menu. Please bring them back or at least bring back the Sweet Potato Fries - they were the best!!! read more

Great food and great service always! One of my favorite spots to grab some quick barbecue. Maria always takes care of me!

Excellent happy hour I frequent weekly. Great food and great service. Mariya is awesome!

I was craving BBQ and read some great reviews about Smoke Daddy so I decided to give them a try. It was a Friday night, and they were pretty busy with to-go orders/pick-ups, despite the hustle and bustle I was able to place my order in person with a pretty good turn- around. I would say that I waited 15 mins tops for my order to come out, which was great especially in how bust they were. There was a discrepancy with payment in that I was mistakenly charged for the wrong order and the manager handled it more than professionally, but also effectively and fast! I really appreciated that level of customer service. I loved their brisket nachos. They were absolutely amazing great serving size, loaded with brisket, cheese and your other favorite nacho toppings and had amazing flavor. I couldn't finish it all in one serving although it was so so good I definitely tried. Highly recommend this place for all your smoked meats/BBQ cravings! I will absolutely be back! read more

Great food, great service, and they are dog friendly. What more is there to say!!? Highly recommend.

FATHER KNOWS BEST If there's one thing dads can appreciate, it's tasty barbecue. Following a really underwhelming Elite event at the International Museum of Surgical Science (about as exciting as it sounds), my +1 and I made a stop for late dinner, desperate for food. I'd driven by -- and heard plenty about -- Smoke Daddy in the past, so I suggested ribs to Nichole C, who eagerly agreed. We sat outside on 10/2/18 and got a couple pints of Abita Purple Haze ($6). Their nachos are discounted to $7 on Tuesdays (normally $12) with your choice of meat. We got pulled pork, and although they were tasty I saw no jalapeños?!? What blasphemy is this!?! Unsatisfied with mere nachos, we placed an order for the chicken & ribs ($22), included with two sides. The chicken was juicy and had some kind of Jamaican jerk spicy rub on it, very good. I thought the mac 'n' cheese was decent (NC loved it), but the smoked pit beans were fantastic. That brings us to the ribs.......holy pope on a rope, that sh*t was outstanding. Given our choice of preparation (baby back, rip tips, etc), we opted for the St Louis style. An incredible, peppery BBQ sauce highlighted meat that literally fell off the bone and had me licking my fingers in delight. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 4.5 To cap things off, we got a terrific banana pudding ($6) for dessert. Garnished with vanilla wafers and precisely the fresh flavor I'd hoped for, I could tell it was homemade. On a future visit I'll be sure to try their key lime pie! Service was fairly attentive and the bathrooms were brilliantly clean (at least the men's was). Their outdoor area couldn't be nicer, and the heaters ensure that you'll stay warm during chilly autumn evenings. Impressive array of high-def TV's, too. * TL;DR * Come for the ribs, stay for the heated outdoor patio (and that 'naner pudding, god damn!) I'm very happy we stopped in and look forward to returning again, possibly to sample their burnt ends. Smoke Daddy knows what's up! read more

Amazing food and ambiance -- no better way to cap off a day at Wrigley. go here! thank me later

Came here with a friend of mine. I'm not familiar with bbq but this place changed my mind. Food, service, and environment are great. I have been on keto recently and I hate being that person who asks for certain ingredients on the side. After talking about it with my friend, the waitress must have picked up on my committment to keto because when the order came out it was keto-friendly. After an afternoon drinking on the patio at District Brew Yards, we needed a bite to eat and Lillie's isn't very pescatarian friendly. Fortunately, Smoke Daddy is. We were able to snag a table on the patio in the corner away from most others. We've been to several other 4 Star places and find them pretty consistent. We started with the pimento cheese hush puppies. Normally I'm a purist when it comes to hush puppies, but these were good and the green chile jam was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. Husband went with the smoked meat dinner (pulled pork & brisket) with mac and cheese and greens as his side. I got the cajun fish sandwich (which I'm pretty sure is the same one Dunlays used to have) with a side of mac and cheese. My food was good, the mac and cheese tastes like there's Merkts in it, there that distinctively rich, cheddary taste. The only thing I didn't care for was the greens. They explained the preparation, but just didn't do it for me. Overall, it was a solid meal and hit the spot. read more

Great food and atmosphere especially on game day. Good deal at brunch, tons of food and options to drink. Megan was an awesome server

Great food. Love the ribs and chicken. Great beans and coleslaw. Enjoy the atmosphere.

Not impressed by the food. Brisket was nearly all fat and burnt ends were dry/too smoky. Baked beans were the only redeeming factor. Sauces were nothing special. read more

Smoke Daddy was a solid choice for casual bbq. The vibe is casual with an indoor outdoor mix, with an open covered patio. For drinks, I got the bloody mary which was amazing, well seasoned and came with bacon and a rib and a mini Miller Lite on the side. Food: Cheeseburger: eh, fries were good and crispy, solid for a burger Taste of the Daddy: ribs, brisket, and chicken and they were all amazing Smoked Meat Platter: "6 stars" Cajun Fish Sandwich: 4.5/5, solid blackened fish, liked the cole slaw Casual spot with great food if you're into meat and order the right thing. Suggest the bloody mary for sure and the taste of the daddy. read more

Smoke Daddy's has always been a family favorite. The Division Street location was a small gem in the constellation of restaurants located in the Wicker Park Area. I mean really, it was. Obviously during this pandemic, things don't go as originally planned. Prices are going up. I expect some issues. However, I paid over $100 for really sub-par food. I will try to be as even keeled about this as possible, but I'm really disappointed. The good: The ribs were phenomenal. The half-chicken portion was excellent. The Key-lime pie was well prepared. The bad: Under-smoked brisket, which was rubbery and got tossed into the trash by my son. Fat was not properly trimmed. Over-compensation of bbq sauce to cover up the lack of actual preparation. The pulled chicken was drier than Ben Shapiro's wife on their honeymoon. The fucking ridiculous: You cannot really "share" items when there is barely enough for one person, let alone 3-4 persons. - TINY, small square of corn bread. It disintegrated quicker than Spider-Man getting snapped by Thanos. Seriously. You can't sop up juices with... dust!! It was emotional, my sister cried. She was the only person to actually get a piece. - SMALL styrofoam containers for everything. Even the two "side meats." Bruh. There was nearly a fight over this, I'M CALLING SHENANIGANS! Just enough food to make us ANGRY as fuck. What kind of person portion controls collard greens?? Mac and Cheese, understandable- but Collard Greens?? Our society is clearly falling a part. -$56 dollars for this before tax, fees, etc. The veracity. I suggest this for: Sadists, people who are really into experiencing THUNDERDOME IRL, and for people who have never eaten real bbq... Folks that like it "dry." I'm super disappointed with this experience. Don't be me and learn from my mistake. We will not be back. read more

So many great places to eat on Division and The Smoke Daddy delivers on the BBQ. When I popped in over the weekend, they had a great acoustic artist strumming covers of 80s hits. Loved that they had live music going! My friend and I copped a seat on the patio and chilled out on the sunny 80 degree Sunday afternoon. Our server was so incredibly friendly and seemed really happy to be working. That is always a sign to me that a place must treat their people really well & I appreciate that. They had a very sessionable FFF IPA on tap that I had with my meal for $7. Again, perfect for the warm summer day. They have TVs even out on the patio, as well, so you sports feins should be satisfied! For my main meal, I went with the Burnt Ends sandwich and a side of Mac & Cheese for $11. Incredibly filling, great burnt ends, alright mac & cheese. My friend had the Smoked Platter for $17 and was disappointed in the thin brisket, not-on-the-bone chicken, baked beans which was more like chili with burnt ends in it and an order of fries which had no potatoes longer than an inch. So, we had some hits & some misses in our meal overall. I really did enjoy the atmosphere of Smoke Daddy plus they have daily specials! So even with the missed, I'll be back to try more on the menu. However, I just don't see myself getting any of the same items I did this last time. Except that great IPA! read more

Stopped in Smoke Daddy (wicker park) while in the area for work. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. They were all doing a great job with COVID protocols. I tried the pimento cheese hush puppies...they are basically fried cheese balls. They come with a jalapeño jam...they were knock out! I had the baby back ribs with slaw and collard greens. I was warned the greens weren't cooked like traditional greens but tried them anyway. I was not a fan - they weren't cooked enough for me and were very stiff and bitter. The slaw was just so-so. The ribs were fall off the bone. They were really good. The real winner of the night was the key lime pie! Oh.My.God! Nothing else to say about that! The beer selection was strong, but they were out of a bunch of things listed on their menu - annoying! Overall, this place is top notch! I highly recommend it! read more

Awesome place! Great for groups! Five of us split three platters and all got drinks and left full and happy. Caleb was a great server!

I was very excited to try this place. I live right across the restaurant and there is always a great crowd with music from the establishment. We went in with a group of 6 and were able to call ahead and make a reservation. We were seated at one big table inside, which was nice because we got spot inside without any other tables near us. There was proper COVID-19 precautions in place with hand sanitizer and masks. The server was very nice and attentive! She was able to recommend some dishes and sauces for the table. I ordered the ribs with the 2 sides. I am very picky with my BBQ, as I lived in saint Louis and BBQ was very big there. I was expecting to be blown away due to the "authentic" nature of the restaurant but the ribs were like warm and dry. They tasted like they have been cooked earlier and warmed before serving.the Mac & cheese was very creamy and I enjoyed it! The fries were just okay but finished them all! The server also gave us 3/4 BBQ sauces for the table all of them were really good! Probably the best part about my meal here read more

Sort of surprised at the low rating. We came for Sunday brunch before driving back home. I had a mimosa and we did the family style brunch. Our server was nice, no complaints. I also had the hush puppies which I will now crave every day. The brunch was good but a LOT of food! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the price. 19 bucks per person and then 9 bucks for the mimosa? I feel like they could include a drink or two for what they're charging. read more

If your into BBQ this place is amazing!!! Alright so took 2 stars off because 1) I love the live band but it's so loud it hurts your ears especially as lunch time. We need a solution here as I do want a live band :) 2) when we got seated out table wasn't wiped clean. During covid times especially that's a little not cool. Normally that would have been a minus 2star But the staff was amazing and cleaned it all for us Otherwise the brunt bits r great :) read more

$28.80 is what i just paid for a small portion of bbq pulled pork mac and cheese and a coke. $4.25 for the drink alone. THEN i get my receipt back with a 3% "cost of business" also listed to "help fight inflation"... on the already exorbitant meal price? at least the service was good. read more

Worst Brisket I've ever tried to eat. It was so over cooked I could barely cut through it with a knife. Never in my life have I not finished brisket but I could only get through half. Ordered their Father's Day Takeout special and what a deal that was! $100 for 3 racks of ribs, macaroni & cheese, cole slaw, AMAZING baked beans, a T-shirt for Dad, bottle of Old Forester bourbon, and 2 bottles of BBQ sauce. Pickup was easy inside. Masks on and socially distanced. They packed it all up in a box that was easy for me to carry back to my car and I got to pick which 2 sauces I wanted. I went with their classic and spicy sauces. Everything was great. Their ribs are firmer than I'm used to so while they don't fall off the bone, they are still delicious. Cole slaw was the right balance of creamy and vinegary. I don't like beans (it's a texture thing) but these beans are so good. They use their BBQ sauce and bits of pulled pork. I mopped it up with bread. Mac & Cheese was creamy, cheesy, and worth all of the carbs. I'll definitely be back, either for patio dining or another round of takeout! read more

Solid BBQ spot in Wicker Park. I've tried the smoked meat platter and the Daddy-O and both were pretty tasty and offered a decent amount of food (you might not finish depending on how hungry you are). The sweet potato fries have a hint of cinnamon and make for a great side. The mac n cheese is also delicious! We got takeout from here, it was ready in 15 minutes. We got the taste of the daddy, which comes with your choice of ribs, 2 types of meat, and 2 sides for $34. Baby back ribs: these were okay, yes they were fall off the bone but it was nothing too special, some parts were dry St Louis BBQ ribs: These were supposed to be meatier and fattier than the baby back. They actually were drier than the baby back Corn bread: ok, kind of dry Cole slaw: ok Collard greens: more on the bitter and less overcooked side than most other BBQ places. It was fine but nothing I'd go back for Mac and cheese: sauce was watery and lacked cheese flavor Cookie dessert: was actually the best thing of everything we had, very gooey and melt in your mouth. Overall, we thought this place was rather expensive for the quality of BBQ you get. read more

Went in being told that this was the place for "Chicago Style BBQ", but boy were they wrong. Got the burnt end deviled eggs, which I will say were fantastic.
