Amazing service! Although it is first come, first served, if you contact them ahead of time, and you are close by, they are kind enough to let you know if there will be a long wait. In our case, there was no wait at all. My husband was home within a half an hour, the DMV report was sent in. They provided the service as requested at the price they quoted, which was reasonable for the area. They were very kind and professional. The building & location are not worthy of 5 stars, but keep reading and I'll give you the important reasons. There was no one in front of me when I arrived, which made me a little nervous... Why isn't this place hoppin'?! But, 5 stars for no wait time! A nice gentleman greeted me, meet Hugo. Hugo opened this place one year ago. I felt like I was VIP at some ritzy restaurant. He turned on his portable a/c for me, moved a chair so I could sit & then asked what kind of music I liked. He asked me some questions about my car, smogged it in under 15 minutes, billed me & then told me the cleared smog cert would be electronically sent to the DMV. He gave me business cards to pass along the word of his awesome service, then I was on my way! Easy breezy! Give Hugo a try! read more

Just finished my smog check at Smoggies Smog Check. Greeted with a smile and ready to go. Hugo gives me the verbal low down of the pricing on the smog. He quotes me at $57. If I remember. I mention how I found his shop through yelp. Also he had an add for $45 on Tuesdays. He quickly changes the quote to $47 because of the $2 charge for debit use! How cool was that? As I said, Hugo was all smiles very courteous. And yes, he offered his AC in the shop to cool me down. If I wasn't on location working, this would be my number one spot Thanks Hugo! read more

We found Smoggies a few years back and this is the only place we take our cars now. Hugo is friendly and efficient. The service is quick and professional. The facility is no frills but Hugo will make you comfortable while you wait (the times we've been there it's never taken more than 25 min) and then you'll be on your way! And I disagree w/the reviewer who said it was pricey. I've been all over town for smog checks and Smoggies is very competitive. Perhaps they'd never had a smog check in CA before? read more

Smoggies smog is the best priced and most helpful smog check in bakersfield. The owner is super friendly and works quickly. He tells it like it is, and while he doesn't offer repair advice, nor recommend any locations for repairs, he is very helpful in the even that you fail a smog. In the rare chance he doesn't answer the phone, he usually calls me back before I finish leaving the message. I will be a customer for as long as he is open. read more

I was a little iffy about the location, I was suppose to go to another place in Rosedale but decided to drive around and look for a different location. I ended up here and maaan I'm glad I did. There was one other guy waiting there, and with the pandemic he said he could pull aside to chairs for me and my daughter or I can 0ark my car sideways in the parking lot so I can have shade until it was our turn. 10 min later it was our turn, he was quick, explained everything to us, offered hand sanitizer and sent us on our way. The guy was really welcoming and I was the only one there so my smog was done pretty quickly. The only downside about this place is that it runs a little pricey to start with and you have to pay extra for the certificate.
