Very quick smog test. Nice man running the place. Had that old school vibe that I appreciate

Straight to the point. That's what I like about businesses that specialize in one thing because they won't pull your leg about this and that. I like when prices are on the wall because I know what to expect. Transparency! It's like going to a restaurant and seeing the prices right on the menu. I just needed a star certified smog place and my car passed no problems. Sure the lobby needs a little love but you won't be spending more than 10min in this place. read more

Great guy. Great service. The 85 Jag XJ6 passed with flying colors. Really apprreciate the great service. He said it runs very clean

We where very surprised,Kevin was Fast, efficient , and he explained everything he was doing and reviewed the paperwork He filled our . Just want to say , Thank You, Kevin read more

It's a smog check. They did it relatively quick.. and it was moderately priced. Although I had call for a quote.. and told them my vehicle was a Toyota Tundra.. and was quoted $60.. and they told me $79 when I was at the counter.. I contested the difference and they honored the $60 quote and said trucks typically are more. I didn't feel like explaining I had informed them of my vehicle make ahead of my arrival as I already was getting the quoted price. Just be aware if you call for a quote to make them stick to it. read more

The older gentleman that runs the place is very nice but after waiting 45 minutes of waiting letting others go ahead of me no big deal as long as I can get my smog check done, except i sat there for about an hour and got told he won't even test my vehicle because starter didn't engage once got the truck running and still said he wouldn't do it even though smog doesn't require a vehicle to be turned on and off read more

We had an old truck. We came here and the guy told us to drive it 100 miles more and come back. We came back and he sent us out to drive it 50 miles. We came back and he then he told us to that we needed to drive it more. So we decided to just go somewhere else. We ended up going to "fast smog check" and it past smog just fine. Thank his guy wasted our time and has horrible service. The lobby is also very gross and smells of cigarettes. read more

I recently used City Smog and found the older gentleman running the shop to be very friendly, helpful, professional, and responsive. I took one car to him and then went home and got my other vehicle. I will definitely continue to use him and this business. TOP NOTCH!!!!!!! read more

I've come to City Smog the past two times the DMV has requested a smog test to renew my registration. Both times took about five minutes or less. The owner is super nice, and really fast so it's like you're in then you're out before you know it. This is my go-to smog place! read more

Freaked out when I realized I needed a smog the day I was due to pay my registration. My husband was helping me look for the best place to take my vehicle and this is the place we decides on. Super fast service, incredibly friendly, and a great price!! I will be back! read more

The proprietor of this establishment picked up his phone before 8:00 a.m. and told me to come on down. He also offered to knock $10 off the regular price before I even mentioned the $15 coupon I found online. Sold. I arrived around 10:00 a.m., he got me in and out and was a really nice guy. If I lived in the area, I'd get all of my smog checks done here. read more

We have had our cars smog checked here for several years now. Always quick service and no hassle. Highly recommend. read more

Owner was very helpful and informative. Definitely will use again. Had very positive experience. Received very prompt service

Smog service here is fast and prices are very reasonable. I gone to this place about 5 times and its probably one of the best in Bakersfield. I do prefer to go here even tho I have to drive a little far. I do have many smog stations by my house but are just too expensive for something they do in 5-10 minutes. I was doing them around here $60-70 depending on the car and that is just too much like a said work done in 5-10 minutes. The price At Smog City its been $45-50 also depending on the car but that seens much better $$. read more

The guy was super fast, super friendly, and the price was reasonable. I realized my car registration was late on a Friday and I needed to get my car smogged. I only had Saturday morning to do it. Luckily, I found this place. I brought a book to read, thoroughly expecting to be in there for a good 30 minutes. I ended up waiting about 5-10 minutes. I will definitely go back in the future! read more

Take your car here because this is a very honest man... Found out my car had headers in would not take my money told me I had to get rid of them... He said he did not want to take my money that way read more

I went here on President's Day expecting to wait awhile. There was no one else there and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Last time I got my car smogged, I waited over an hour! Waiting area has a TV and magazines if you need them. Friendly service. Recommending to family and friends. FYI their website has a $15 off coupon. read more

Quick, friendly service. Used the coupon on their website without any issues. Will definitely return next time it's necessary.

Nice guy- great service. Gave me $10 off from the posted price which was nice. Awhile back I brought my BMW in and he said he needed special equipment to test it. When I brought my truck in today I mentioned that and he said he bought the equipment necessary to do it. So I can bring all my cars there now! read more

Easiest smog check I've ever had. $15 coupon on their website to boot.

Best smog place around I had a busy day had to get BC and only had a hour to get back to school got me in out quick definitely coming back!

I usually come here. Today I tried a couple of different places a little closer to my house. Total waste of time. Should have just came to city smog in the first place. Awesome customer service. I will recommend them to everyone. Thank you City Smog! read more

I had such a wonderful experience here at Smog City. I called earlier in the morning to make an appointment and he said just come on in. I got there about 20 minutes earlier than anticipated. Gary, (I believe that's his name) greeted me and helped me right away. He got me in and out in about less than ten minutes and before my appointment time. Payment was easy. $50.00 and I was on my way. He had a small but clean waiting area- Great experience. Highly recommend. Next time I need a smog test it'll be a easy decision where I take my car. read more

Bad customer service I showed up here and the guy came straight to me asked if he can help I said I needed a smog check and he asked for my keys I tried takeing out my house keys from it and he grabs it and says "ohh im not going anywhere with them" takes my car and I wait inside, tests my car comes back and tells me it failed and starts askin me why I did this and that to my car I stopped him and said "I recently just bought the car" well later that day I call my friend and tell him about it then he asked me if it was a old guy and if the shop was by bhs high school he said the same guy failed him.. And all it was, was a pintched hoes on the bottom of his car" when he later found out read more

Reasonable prices, great owner! Gary doesn't gouge you because he is VERY fair on his prices, and he takes FABULOUS care of his customers! He is quick as well as thorough!!! This is the only place I will take my vehicles for a smog check. read more

Oh let me tell you. I went in with my check engine light on, not aware that thats an automatic fail. Sorry Im not car savvy to know such a thing. Two minutes later he hands me over a diagnostic about my oxygen sensor and catalytic converter needs to be replaced. Ive know about the oxygen sensor, didnt understand that it would fail a smog test due to it. Read up on MANY threads that state most smog spots will say both sensors and converters need to get replaced? Like a cop pulling you over for a broken tail light...its that common. So being naive I got dooped by the owner who charged me 35 with a coupon. I called to complain, and his female employee had an attitude and laughed and was clearly unprofessional (personally owned business) and she said he was busy until I had no problem coming down there to speak with them face to face. Nothing like getting screwed over by a dishonest business that has YEARS of experience with this issue and couldve helped a female out by letting her know about her check engine light before even running a generic diagnostic. But who does that?! No stars, no referrals, girl laugh and see who you laughing at...karma! read more

I went there on a Friday nd it was the worst place I've ever gotten a smog. The workers were very rude and I have to wait almost an hour. I do not recommend this place to anyone read more

Worst experience I've ever had! My husband dropped the car off on Saturday. The website said they close at 2:00. When he went back at 1:30 they were closed with a rude note stating they told us they closed at noon and that we would have to pick up our car on Monday! They had not bothered to get our phone number, if they had we would have picked it up! I picked it up on Monday. When I told them that I was upset about the events on Saturday, the owner Gary, an elderly man, started screaming obscenities at me calling my husband an effing moron and waving his finger in my face and calling me a "b" word. He would not let me use my visa to pay so I gave him a 100 hundred dollar bill and he refused to give me change. At that point I felt threatened and called the cops. It was only when I told the police that he was letting another man pay for his car with a visa did he finally give me change and let me take my car! No customer especially a woman should be treated that way. His receptionist, instead of trying to calm him, just encouraged his behavior! I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Bureau of Automotives! read more
