My initial contact with this establishment was over the phone. I wanted to make an appointment but I was told that no appointments were required. From Cal Lutheran University the distance is 6.7 miles (about a 15 minute drive) unfortunately due to city construction it took me almost 30 minutes to get there, but once I got there I was happy I went. The establishment is clean, lost of equipment to properly test vehicles, location is spacious to sit around and wait for your car. The process was explained to me by the guest service manager (it is my personal opinion that she was delightful and helpful) It took about 15 minutes to get the certificate for my car. This is a family owned business, therefore it was obvious to me that the owner Colen Neal takes pride in his work and pride in his business. He has over 30 years experience so he knows his stuff. I paid under $50.00 for the inspection and certificate. PLEASE NOTE, I do not know if prices vary depending on the year of your car, so please ask what the price will be for your vehicle. the guy was really grumpy. i think he was trying to project efficiency but came off as if he was too busy to take the time to earn my business. he ended up just failing the car because a light code had not been reset by my mechanic despite having been resolved. wish the operator had told me first because all i had to do was get a quick code reset. instead after clearing code, i was required to drive for 100 miles, only to be charged again for a retest. read more

They run a scam where they try to tell you a cleared check engine light causes a battery problem. This is most likely so that you'll buy a new battery from their buddies in the adjacent shop. A classic scam, but one i haven't seen in a while. It makes sense to run it in a nice town like Thousand Oaks where most people don't repair their own cars regularly. read more

I came by for a walk-in smog test and can honestly say that, while waiting for results is nerve-wracking, I had an extremely pleasant visit. I arrived when they were just opening the doors at 0800 and there were two folks in front of me. Even when walking up to the counter I was greeted by Mr. Neal and my day was already off to a great start. After a few minutes in line and at the counter, I received my estimate and hung out in the waiting area. Not 10 minutes later the two cars in front of me and mine were done and I was on my way home. Everyone working there was just so nice and I actually wouldn't have minded waiting longer. I will certainly be back here when my car is due for a smog test again!
