As an 8 year+ regular customer, this recent visit will by my last as I was overcharged $12. I called Smog and Save and they admitted that I was overcharged $10 + $2 CC fees. They said they could not credit my CC and suggested I stop by to pick up the $10, but I told them I live 20 miles away. So, I contacted my credit card company who was able to help immediately and refund me the $10.00. Its disappointing because I brought all of my business vehicles here also. Never again. came here showed the coupon before the test because you have to or you will NOT get the discount and was told it was an suv and was charged an additional $10 plus a $2 fee to use your card. I know my 89 Chevy truck is more than the average vehicle but $80 is pretty steep especially when I found another place just a few miles away that did if for $60. The guy here Failed my truck and charged me $62 to tell me that I needed to get repairs done that would run me almost $1k to pass because my cat is "modified". Again, a nice little No Pass No Pay hooked me up just like they have always done for years now....cheaper and faster. Do your homework before you pay more here for lesser service. read more

The young guy that did the smog was polite, courteous and efficient. Beware of the upcharge! The most outrageous thing is they charge you a $2.00 fee for using your debit or credit card to pay. Its ridiculous! No other company charges this. They dont take checks so you are basically forced to pay the fee because you are unaware of it til yuh ou go to pay. The employee states that the owner says he is being charged....he is profiting off everyone else. ARCO only charges .35 cents to use debit. The owner is full of it if he thinks we should pay an additional $2. Dont go there! Tell your friends too! I'm never going back. read more

I find it funny that people are complaining, "Oh they had a surcharge to use credit card!!!!" like no place does that, or, "They didn't ask me if I had a coupon and charged me full price UGH!!!" Well, I went to this spot yesterday because I needed a STAR certified smog, which they are, and the process was entirely painless. I showed up, told the guy I needed a smog with star certification, showed him the coupon BEFORE the test took place and was in and out in less than 30 minutes for $42 even. I think it's unfair to ding them on points of things the customer should be aware of beforehand. The coupon even says show before the test takes place and the surcharge is clearly displayed and shown on the website. It's entirely human error on those other customers parts. I will be returning here again for future service. read more

I needed a smog certification to renew my vehicle registration. Unfortunately, my vehicle did not pass and I was told that I still owed $30. I was then informed that I had 15 days to have the required repairs completed and return for a retest, the charge for which would be $10. It took me approximately one month to get the repairs done and Smog N Save informed me that since the 15 day period had expired, the charge for the retest would triple. When I asked for a two week extension of the 15 day period, the person with whom I was speaking said that the 15 day period was noted on the receipt (like I had agreed to it in advance?). He went on to tell me that his policies are standard and that I would not find a better deal (his original price was $35 = $31.75 + $8.25 for the cert. less a $5 coupon). He could not have been more wrong. First, there are other reputable smog-check shops that are more reasonably priced. Second, I found several that do not charge if your vehicle does not pass. The one I found was a few miles south of Smog N Save. At no charge, they pretested my car to see that it was ready to check (which ensures that the required repairs had been completed). In a few minutes I had passed and had the required documentation all for $21.75 + $8.25 for the certificate. I told Smog N Save that I had other vehicles and his unwillingness to accommodate my modest request would result in the loss of my future business. Unfortunately, it made no difference to the person with whom I spoke. read more

This was by far the best experience I have ever had with a smog place. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and politely asked to wait for the main guy to come through (sorry dude, I forgot your name!). The reason I have deemed this a 5 star review is because I was treated like a guest with respect. He started with the small talk, which helps build rapport, and continued to be friendly all the way until the end. I will be going back when my truck needs a new smog check. Plus, the gentleman who was in front of me didn't pass the check. It's noteworthy because he was treated with respect as well, and given all proper details on what was wrong with his vehicle, as well as a proper plan to fix it, and the option to come back within 15 days for a small fee to get re-checked, and sent on his way. 5 stars for cleanliness, small talk, efficiency (I was only there a short while), professionalism, and the wonderful filtered water. read more
