THIS IS A PSA Last month I went to this location, alone, unaccompanied by any male. Janet smogged my car. Fast and easy for $30. No shenanigans. I saw their sign saying they handle DMV services so Janet itemized everything on a piece of paper for me and the total came to $465 which included the $175 Smog Busters fee. Two days later I went back to the same location, still unaccompanied by any male, to have them handle all the DMV services and this guy, Blake U. was working there instead of Janet. After he collected all my info he told me it would cost $620!!! Supposedly he was on the phone with some woman from the Smog Busters office and they agreed on that price. He said that "the DMV changes their prices every day and he had to charge a buffer fee in case the DMV fees exceeded what he was going to charge me". ARE YOU KIDDING??!!HOW MORONIC!! I asked Blake to give me the bogus fee that he wrote down on a piece of paper but he refused. He said that "it would never stand because the DMV changes their prices every day". Back at it again for the annual smog check. This year I was in at 8:15 and the technician was finishing up the car in front of me.I pulled in afterwards and we were off. Less than 12 minutes later we were good to go and I was climbing in my car to get to work. The data is processed to the DMV immediately and 30 minutes later I was able to complete my vehicle registration on the interwebs. I had the same friendly gentleman from last year and he's a happy pleasant fellow who gets you in and out Smog Busters pretty quickly. My husband and I have been coming here for the smogs for both of our cars for years. No more, we're much happier with a competitor around the corner. The main reason we are over this spot is the crabby man who works here. Every year it's the same bad attitude, like you're an inconvenience to him. Here are the three main incidents that pushed us over. 1. I waited forever while three cars went ahead of me and pulled in when it was my turn. The crabby man tried to argue with me that a car who had just pulled in was next. I know who came first because I had 30 minutes to watch everyone come and go. 2. Last year my husband arrived at 5:50 and the crabby man wouldn't do his smog because he said he was closed. Funny, his sign says he closes at 6:00, not 5:50. He should update his sign. So my husband had to leave work early twice to get his smog. 3. My husband forgot about last year and arrives this year. After WAITING for other cars, crabby man turns him away because it's now 5:45. Get this, he turns him away by shaking his head no and wagging his finger at him. My husband came home and told me f*** this clown. He declared that our household speaks with their money by not spending it here ever again. On top of the bad attitude, he takes twice as long to actually complete the smog over our new spot. I went to this location and the guys were fantastic. Value; cheaper than their competitors especially with the military discount! I came back again yesterday with my Tahoe & Leo was awesome! Just got my husband's car smog checked at this location. AJ was working and he was awesome! Super friendly, super fast too. There was a car ahead of me when I arrived, but AJ was just about done with that customer. So including the wait for him to start on my vehicle, I was there 10-15minutes max! $22 cash or $23 card, which seems comparable with other places. It was that dreaded time of year when your registration is due and a smog check is required. Luckily I found a place that isn't busy. Located on the corner of Arroyo Grande and American Pacific, the little building is in the parking area of the shell gas station. It's very easy to get in and out. Plus it's far enough away from the actual DMV so it's not hectic. The gentlemen working was very polite and efficient. He had the smog check done so quickly. I'm happy the smog information is sent directly to the dmv so I don't have to drive the info over there. But I think most smog places do that as well. Then it's easy to update registration online. I am more than happy to use this location every year. It's one less thing to stress over. read more

Worst service I have ever received. Was waiting for 20 minutes as they slowly went through two cars. The attendant was flat out rude, and completely checked out mentally from being there, or caring about the job. Didn't care at all about the customer. First time I've ever gotten my vehicle checked and was told "we have to charge every time we run the test". I checked with surround smog test areas and they said there is usually an allotment of times for retest for another payment. It was more expensive than the surrounding smog test by at least $3. Charge was for $20. Save your time and your money and go somewhere else. They obviously don't care, and they hire employees who also don't care. read more

The old man working there is a nasty thief. I pulled in, no greeting. He looked under the hood, checked the vin, never started it, and hooked up the gadget under the dash with some fiddling. Doesn't say a word, and charges me $17.00. THEN TELLS ME IT FAILED BECAUSE IT WAS TAMPERED WITH, AND THE CONNECTOR SHOULDN'T BE HANGING! But non the less it was a cheap and fast experience. In and out. Probably would've been quicker but there was someone ahead of me. 96 Accord. Passed and done til next year.
