All the food was amazing and I could not criticize anything. The restaurant was very busy with a lot of people, but it was not Overly noisy. The waiter provided some excellent recommendations and we were happy with everything. The quality of food was amazing considering how busy they were. Kudos to the chef. The servers were very attentive and aware of who needed water refills. A little more expensive than the typical restaurant but worth the cost.

I went here with a friend a couple weeks ago, as I was saying about how I wanted to try authentic Italian food. This place is an institution that's been around for over 20 years. It's not extremely upscale, but it's a comfortable dining environment. I went with the carbonara after I saw the ingredients in it. An authentic carbonara consists of spaghetti or linguine, guanciale, eggs, and a special kind of cheese. No cream, no milk, no garlic, no onions. This was exactly what I got with this carbonara, so I can confirm it's 100% authentic Italian. It was absolutely delicious, and the prices are very affordable for the quality and authenticity you get. I added a lemon meringue cheesecake. Pretty good, loved the design especially. Given the combined total of under $40 including tax and tips, this is very reasonable for an Italian dinner. Service is excellent. I'll definitely return.

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Moxies Kenaston…read more First, the food took 30-40 minutes to arrive. When my steak finally came, it was cooked completely wrong. I ordered medium well, but it arrived closer to medium rare. I had no choice but to send it back and wait again. After finishing the meal, I asked for the bill and waited another 10 minutes while watching my server walk around serving and cashing out other tables. I only received the bill after asking again when the manager happened to pass by. When I reviewed the bill, I noticed two unexpected $4 charges. These turned out to be for two sauces the server had offered while taking the order. He simply said there were two sauces available and asked which one I preferred. At no point did he mention they would cost extra. Had I known, I would not have ordered them. I asked to speak to the manager and explained both the slow service and the undisclosed charges. His response was that the restaurant had become busy so service quality had declined. He offered either an $8 refund or a $25 Moxies gift card. And in the meanwhile he already have the 25$ gift card out so I can get myself out ASAP. Throughout the conversation, the attitude felt dismissive and perfunctory. If service declines because it's busy, why doesn't the expected tip percentage decline as well? I chose to take the $8 refund and declined the gift card. Since I paid in cash, I requested the $8 back in cash. The manager insisted that they do not allow cash returns and told me to leave my full name and phone number. He said they would contact me the next day so I could provide my card number for a refund. Because I was in a rush to catch a movie, I agreed and left. About 15 minutes later, the manager called and said their card refund system "might not be working" and that I could come back to pick up the $8 in cash. This was extremely frustrating. Fifteen minutes earlier, I was told cash refunds were not allowed. After I had already left and traveled some distance, I was suddenly told to return and collect the cash. This is not a reasonable resolution. While Moxies may not miss one customer, this kind of dismissive and inconsistent handling of issues reflects very poorly on management and customer service standards. We spent almost $300 and this is the kind of service we get? I will not be returning

In 2004 I was 12 and on a school trip. We waited 2 hours for our food, which I remember because ADHD 12yos keep track of things like that. When it eventually came, I thought, "This spaghetti is bad," which I'd never thought about spaghetti before in my young life. I rarely think it, even now, about any food. I can eat notoriously bad meals. For a while in my 20s I regularly ate chickpeas with mayonnaise, because I just needed FUEL. I also thought, "This spaghetti is cold," which made sense since the spaghetti and I had waited so long to unite. My 2nd visit to the Pony Corral was yesterday, and it was bad vibes off the hop. The hostess asked me to take off my "backpack," a satchel that is not so much what you imagine when you think "backpack," but rather one of those teeny wimpy girlbags with silly little shoulder straps, that we all started wearing for fashion but found it was more convenient than a purse and easier on our back problems as we became Old. Purse-like, mine held such small feminine essentials as my wallet, phone, Kleenex, lip balm, and an instrument cable which, in all fairness, I could have used to attempt to strangle another customer had I really wanted to (the attempt would have been unsuccessful, as I am small and weak). I was told to go out and leave my bag in the car, despite having come in out of a blizzard, and with no concern for the fact that I might have valuables that I carry on my person because that is literally what women/people do with their valuable things in their little bags. What restaurant asks people to leave their bags in the car? I've been asked at stores to leave a large backpack behind the counter, which I'm fine with, because people probably steal expensive things from those stores in large backpacks. What am I going to steal at Pony Corral? I don't even want to take MY OWN LEFTOVERS home from Pony Corral, never mind anything else. Pony Corral, you caught me on the wrong day. It was 11:30 a.m. and I had woken up early to play music at my dear grandfather's funeral, and I couldn't scoff at your absurd rule-that-no-other-restaurant-has and walk back into the blizzard and find somewhere else to eat, because my entire extended family was already sitting waiting to order some bland, bland food. Is it possible you thought I was smuggling alcohol inside in my teeny tiny backpack, at 11:30 a.m. on a weekday? Because I was very, very sad, and that might be a reasonable thing to suspect if you had known that fact about me, which you didn't. I would even have opened my teeny backpack and displayed its tragic dearth of alcohol or Pony-Corral-silverware, and explained that the cable was not for strangling customers using my tiny noodle arms but for plugging in my guitar to play sad music at my grandfather's funeral. I know, I know: a woman should not get special treatment just because it's her 93yo grandfather's funeral. But is it "special treatment" for a person not to have to walk into a fcking blizzard to stash their purse with their wallet and phone and kleenex and lip balm so they can enjoy 2 hours (plus the time it took to eat, haha jk) with their family, consuming the most tasteless yam fries they have ever experienced with a dip that approximates salad dressing? To be clear, I know this rule wasn't invented by the hostess enforcing it, and that gently questioning her (which I did) was not going to change the stupid policy, and being a smartass about it (which I barely did) was not going to enlighten her to its ludicrousness, and yelling at her (which I did not do) was not going to bring back my dead grandfather. Which is why I went back into the blizzard and left my little bag in the car. Notes: 1. My cousin found a "short and curly" (her words) in her coleslaw. Of course all hair is beautiful no matter what body part it originates from, but this might be the one context in which it's acceptable to discriminate in favour of "tall and straight." 2. Another cousin received a ham omelette, and when he explained that he doesn't eat pork and had ordered corned beef, was told, "yes they are the same" and had to debate about it until the manager came and apologized. 3. Another cousin brought a larger bag, big enough to fit his laptop, and was not harassed about it, and I'm sure it's not because unlike me he's tall and straight, but one can't help but notice these things. One stars. The star is because the staff were mostly nice and if they seemed glum I don't blame them, it's not their fault they work at the stupid Pony Corral.

The restaurant was very busy that evening. I took the required amount of insulin for the meal that I ate. When I arrived home my Blood Glucose (BG) was over 20 which is a very dangerous level. The normal range is between 4-7. It was then that I realized that I was given a regular cola by mistake and not the sugar free cola that I ordered. It took many hours to finally bringing my BG down which I did by taking a great amount of insulin. I phoned the restaurant and explained what happened with the goal of letting them know to be more careful as something like this is very dangerous for a diabetic. The person answering my call apologized, took my name and number and told me that her supervisor would call me the following day. I have yet to hear from them. As I said I wanted to make them aware that something like this is very dangerous for a diabetic especially if you end up drinking more then one glass of cola. Needless to say, I am not very happy that they wouldn't even return my call.
