My extended family and I went for dinner the other night and had a really enjoyable night out. I had made a reservation for the solarium, then asked if they could move us to the dining room (they could and set up a table for us), but everybody wanted the solarium. The staff were completely accommodating to all the back and forth, and apologized to us for the delay in having a table ready when it was our fault. The waitess also turned down the music for us. It so happened Tuesdays are half price wine night, one so we ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Several people got the clam chowder, which Earl's is known for, and said it was excellent, and filling. I went for the Poke Bowl, which was quite big, beautifully plated, well made (lots of colour and different textures) and fresh. We were too full for dessert, so will have to go back. read more

Call me a basic B* but I always enjoy a meal at Earl's. They are easy and always have something for everyone. Their spinach and artichoke dip is a 20+ year running classic. Always a mandatory item for the table. I wish they had it at their US locations. I finally tried the Tofu Sesame Citrus Noodle Bowl which was delicious. The tofu was crispy and spicy. If you can make it for Happy Hour, they have it and some other items steeply discounted with other small plates and appetizers. Thank you for being so consistent and a Canadian classic! read more

Immediately walking into Earls Kitchen + Bar we were greeted with the smiley faces from there host's and were given a table right away, our server Sydnie/Sydney is absolutely amazing! She was very good at helping with menu suggestions and treated us like old friends. Places that greet you with open arms really change your business for the better and I can say for sure that this place is one of them. As for the food, we ordered Calamari, Chicken Fettucine Alfredo and the South Indian Chicken Curry. The calamari was phenomenal, defiantly the best calamari I've ever tasted. The Fettucine Alfredo was okay didn't have a lot if sauce causing the noodles to be dry, the chicken was over seasoned and the bread was a bit burnt on one side. As for the South Indian Chicken Curry, it was the best I've had since coming to Canada the chicken was very tender and well seasoned, the curry was very mild and very delicious! Ordered the California roll sushi. Possibly the worst sushi I've ever been served in my life. Unbearably salty, for one thing. And it arrived without the usual accompaniments - wasabi mustard and ginger slices. "No wasabi," the server told me curtly, when I asked. The calamari appetizer had a good portion of food. It seemed like quite a lot but when I finished it, I was still hungry. It also wasn't as tasty as Opa's Greek food's calamari. It must have been the lack of seasoning or maybe the calamari was smaller than at Opa's but I just wouldn't recommend that appetizer. The waitress was super nice though! Very attentive and polite. The restaurant is big and vast. Modern lights and moody lighting inside. It was an interesting place to eat at and the seats were super comfortable. read more

Had a Chicken Avocado Salad, one of their current features. Chicken was a little overcooked and the vinaigrette was decent, but the big kicker was that the "Baby Iceberg Lettuce" wound up being mostly stalks and wasn't very pleasant to eat. In fact on several forkfuls it looked like the particular leaves I had snagged were all separated from the head at once, lying perfectly together in a big clump of watery lettuce. Their salad combo had potential and was of appropriate size, but lettuce needs definite improvement. Had Yam Fries with a garlic aioli sauce to start, very tasty but a little small for a "sharing plate" as the menu called it. Service was good; hostess took our coats and server offered wine quite well. Fairly quiet evening for them but I can picture the building getting quite loud given the proximity of most tables on busy nights. read more

Restaurant / Bar This was a place we selected for a get together in the area. I gave it a look on Yelp and on their own website and it looked very nice. One of the things I found oddly interesting in Winnipeg is that the restaurants are much nicer than the clientele they serve. This was the same thing- waitresses dressed nicely, nice atmosphere and nice looking place yet the people who go there look like they are dressed for sports bars. Odd. We started off in the bar area and ordered up a bunch of drinks and appetizers for the group- waitress was very friendly and we had a lot of fun catching up and chowing down. Fried short ribs were interesting. We moved over to the main dining area and found another fun waitress who took car of us for the rest of the night. The menu was pretty varied - something for everyone to be sure. I think the majority of us went with steaks and a few more drinks. Service was very good throughout and the food we good- nothing to crow about but nothing horrible. Steaks were cooked correctly but it wasn't like a WOW steak or anything. Dropped into Winnepeg and this was one of the best options first night. The food was good. The beer, well it depends. If you expect beer to be quality craft beer, you will be disappointed. Alexander's IPA is a crappy, weak pilsner at best, like Molson Golden. Ended up with a reasonably decent beer, but nothing to write home about. I would give zero stars if I could. I've been coming to this location off and on for over 20 years, and regularly for the last 3.5. I get to the restaurant at 920 PM with a 10 PM closing. I'm told by the hostess, AFTER she gabbed for 5 minutes with another person waiting to get in, who ended up leaving, that the kitchen wasn't taking food or drink orders. This is 30+ minutes before closing. I ask about takeout. No problem, I'm told. I explain my order and that the head chef knows how to prepare the order the way I like it. 5 minutes later he comes out to say he doesn't think he can get a 15-20 minute order done by closing which is still 30 minutes away. I am DONE with this location, especially since I had to detour out of my way to get to the location. read more

I've been served by multiple different servers there and they all have such an outgoing personality. I always enjoy the food there. Food was great, service was awkward. The young lady that waited on us was just an odd duck and of course we stopped by twice during the week I spent there and once again she was our waitress. There was no sense of urgency and she didn't listen very well. Four stars due to the food! The first time I went I thought there was no way anything was going to be good because the menu had such a wide array of food. I tried the bibimbap with steak and it was surprisingly delicious. Since the first experience was good, tried a burger with a pepper relish and it again was good. I'll definitely be back. Maybe I'll be lucky enough for a different waitress next time. read more

Believe it or not, I've actually never been Earl's before! We have one in London but it is far from the downtown core. Luckily my boss is a big fan so we stopped in for a bite before we went to the airport for the night. This place was bumpin' to say the least. The lounge area was very full with lots of groups (it's that time of the year!). While it was busy, it was never too loud and the music was a good volume. Our servers name was Chelsea and she was wonderful. Very bright and bubbly she served me the biggest glass of Shock Top I've ever seen. I needed two hands to lift it. My coworker got the cucumber mojito which tasted extremely refreshing. When we made our orders she warned us that there was a bit of a backup in the kitchen since it was so busy. We had no issues with that. The wait actually wasnt that long at all but she checked in once to let us know our food was on it way. I had the Jeera Chicken Curry with Coconut Jasmine Rice. It was very good. It was very warm and the spice wasn't out of control. I am not very strong when it comes to hot sauces. There was a lot of sauce in comparison to the chicken but I just scooped the meat out and left the remaining sauce in the provided bowl. This dish was so good in fact that my picky co-worker tried the sauce to dip her potatoes in and now she is crazy about it. After looking over the menu and from my experience in Winnipeg I know that I will choose Earls again as a great night out with a partner or group of friends. It is too bad Chelsea isn't in Ontario because she was so unbelievably genuine. We all commented how she was probably one of the best servers we ever had. Been a patron of Earls since the original parrots in cage motif and the old location on St. James street. Back then Earls was a fresh new idea. I thought it was akin to California style cuisine (before ever visiting California). In the early 90's it was hip cool and trendy eating here. I've probably eaten pretty much everything they have on the menu. The sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, pizzas, dry ribs, you name it. Then they moved to a new larger location across from Polo Park. I would deem the food is not as exciting as it once was maybe because there are more restaurant options in the game. Also let's keep in mind it's 25 years later. We came for drinks in the lounge last week. To relish in Earls glory I had an Albino Rhino ale. Great flavour as always and good times! read more

In any other city I would not choose an Earl's as one of my top picks to go out for drinks during the week. However, with Winnipeg's nightlife scene being hardly a scene at all - it's always a good bet that Earl's will be filled with people. Given when I live I either choose this location or the one downtown. When I choose to go to Polo Park I always like to ask for Candace in the lounge. She's an awesome, outgoing server which can be rare to find at an Earl's sometimes. Their drink specials are usually always something I am in the mood for and are poured with consistency. The food is great, although nothing super creative, but there's always something I can decide on. In the summer it's nice that they have the in closed patio and you can sit even when it is raining. I also love being able to park in a parking lot instead of miles down the street - nice change! read more

I guess of all the similar chain places that this place competes with, I prefer Earls more than the others. The Earls Polo Park location has gone through a recent renovation a few months ago. It feels like they freshened up a few things but no big overhaul except for the removal of the glass partition between the lounge and the dining room (though the rooms are still segregated but now it has a more open feel). This place is okay for food if you're in the area, in addition, they have good hours but otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to have a meal here. And the service is hit and miss. The menu has changed recently but the items I do like tend to more be the shareable items like the calamari, the crispy dry ribs, "searing hot" wings w/ blue cheese dip and celery, and California prawn pesto pizza. Strangely, I like their clam chowder too. I don't really like any entrees except for this new dish - Los Cabos Chicken Tacos ($12.75). It came with 2 tacos that had chicken, cheddar and jalapeno jack cheese, avocado corn salsa, lettuce, cilantro on a white corn tortilla. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the salsa that came with it, it tasted more like the hot sauce they use on their wings. It was spicy but the flavour didn't really pair that well with the tacos. I had the soup special as my side, which was the mulligatawny soup. The soup was full of the rich curry flavour that I love. All in all, a decent place to share a few appy's with friends and enjoy a few drinks or a quick lunch. read more

Meh We wanted to grab a bite as it had been a long evening. We rolled in around 10:00 but in hindsight, I think the cooks had left an hour earlier. The service was friendly and helpful so that was great. Good recommendations of the beers on tap and quickly offered to bring a taster. The waters arrived reasonably fast but it seemed to take forever for the beer. The food was a mixed bag. Some had the mushroom soup and it received rave reviews; however one bowl of soup came out cool. The bowl was burning hot but the contents were not. My clam chowder was in the same boat. Hot bowl but cool soup. I had heard Earl's clam chowder was to die for. It was okay but I would not consider ordering it again. The Caesar salad featured nice crispy romaine and a tasty sauce. The won tons were 'okay'. The chicken tenders and fries were a hit. My burger was dry and over cooked. Little things that detracted from the evening included not condiments on the table, even after asking for them. The washrooms were clean but had not been 'serviced' in some time as there were not paper towels. Like I said, little things but they all add up. Some hits and several misses. Had a fantastic meal. The garlic fries were crispy and tasty. Avocado super toast is delicious. Upon recommendation I ate the BBQ ribs and Cajun chicken. The ribs are Fantastic, fall off the bone, and are covered in a nice bbq sauce. Ribs would be great on their own. The problem I have is they were overwhelmed by the flavours in the Cajun chicken. The chicken was extremely juicy, and had incredible flavour. The service was friendly, but definitely a little slow with drinks. They ran out of the wine one of my colleagues was drinking, after just 1 bottle. Definitely a place to eat, I would come back just for the chicken! read more

Not too different from the downtown location although the lounge probably isn't as busy and has a different crowd. Also, instead of an outdoor patio, this earls has an indoor patio that is basically a glass enclosure that can be opened up during the summer. The food is very good considering this is a "scene"/trendy restaurant/lounge. Steak, pizza, pasta, stir fry, chicken and ribs, salmon. Lots of variety. All done reasonably well for reasonable prices. The servers are mostly young attractive females with a few males thrown into the mix. I've obviously gone here too many times to be able to comment on this, but I traditionally have favoured the staff at polo to main. Earls polo staff are "toned down"...in a good way...whatever that means. Anyway, most nights you can find easily find seating in the lounge (unless there is an event) and it won't be as loud as earl's main (which can be noisy). A good place to go on a date for dinner or drinks, or to go with a big group of friends. read more

I've been coming to this location for over four years, but I'm not quite sure why - the food has, at best, been average. Most of the time, we'd just go for drinks and due to the location's convenience. I can safely say that will no longer be the case. Not only was our last meal there collectively described as 'abysmal', our server took over twenty-five minutes to take our order (due to a dinner party taking her full attention and there not being any other wait staff assigned to that section), got it wrong *TWICE*, and proceeded to bring out burgers that were falling apart, cold fries that were likely half an hour old and drinks that were supposed to be doubles but tasted like water. We asked to speak to a manager but apparently there wasn't one working, so all she could offer were her apologies (which she gave with the most forced smile I have ever seen). Horrible dining experience. Not quite sure why we've sunk thousands of dollars into this establishment. Will definitely think twice about making the same mistake again. read more

Fortunately the manager, Tierannai (cool name), pitched in by getting our drinks and starter order, also was very attentive. Wings were okay and tied us over until the meals came. My husband had TOLD her to add an appetizer and she comes back five minutes later and asked if we wanted to add the appetizer...hhhhmmm, did we not just tell her that??? She didn't even bother coming back to see if we were ok with plates or utensils. Went to Earl's this evening to celebrate my dad's birthday which would be his first time at Earl's. When we arrived they had failed to set up our reservation for enough seating and then proceeded to tell us that we could be offered additional chairs (for 4 additional people) and "squish in." We offered other suggestions but we were told that all tables were reserved. Finally, after about 5 minutes of persistent suggesting, we were able to get a smaller table added to our party. No kids menu offered and the plates for the children were brought out piping hot. We had to ask for side plates to transfer the food so the kids could avoid scalding themselves. My husband and I had to share a napkin, my mom didn't get a straw for her specialty cocktail (which would require one) and two guests had to ask for a fork multiple times. After we finished eating, a hostess asked if she could take the highchair my nephew was using. Umm, no. Earl's, you should invest in more than one highchair for the restaurant. Nothing offered for the birthday guest, not even a sincere "happy birthday" wish from the server.. and a number of the party members felt like we were being rushed out the door so we lugged all the gifts back to my parents house to be opened there. None of us wanted to stay in the uninviting atmosphere. Food was okay but not worth the price. Fries were cold, asparagus tough and chewy, steaks were meh (would rather go to the Keg). The water in the bathroom was freezing cold! I know I'm knit picking now but you would think they could at least get that together. Not exactly the nice evening we wanted to spend with the family. Also, staff appears to be overwhelmed, miserable and a tad snooty. A smile and nice attitude and taking care of guests appropriately would go a long way vs having to ask for things and problem solve for them. Sorry Earl's Polo Park. Very amateur. Great fail tonight. This is a really cool restaurant located in the busy Polo Park area. Great buzzing location and a really well designed building with dark wood furniture and atmosphere. The food was good. We had the Napolitano Margherita pizza, cheeseburger, Santa Fe chicken salad and calamari. But the best part of the whole thing is the absolutely gorgeous servers including one that looks like Holly Madison. Our waitress, Lauren was of course the hottest. read more

To start, I am not anti-covid. I am careful. I know the rules and obey them. I take measures like a lot of us to prevent the spread of Covid-19. With that said, I am a frequenter at Earl's Polo Park. We shared a steak and drink. We paid for our bill just before 10 pm because that was when the waitress came by with the machine. After my meal and after paying my bill, I walked over to the restroom to take care of my duties and to basically wash-up. Instead, the manager blocked me from entering the rest-room and said "no, you are not allowed, government rules!" I was blown away. Nobody warned us that we were not allowed to use the restroom anymore. I looked at the other Earl's staff for some defence but they all ignored me. Despite that, I was still calm, obedient and listened but I did not get it. Was it because I was Asian and they had a different perception of me? I just wanted to go home but needed to use the restroom first, that is all. A couple other patrons were flabbergasted that I was not allowed to use the restroom and defended me. Thank you. What was I supposed to do pee in my pants after drinking what I paid for in your establishment! To the only 2 ladies against me, oh please! Life is not all sunshine and rainbows; sometimes you get wronged and you need to stand up for yourself. Sometimes people need to learn! I understand the rules, it does not say you cannot use the restroom after you eat and drink. You cannot serve food and liquor after a certain time yes, but it does not say you cannot use the restroom too. I am human. Please do not treat me worse than a dog. I understand the times we are living in everyday but as a hard working professional, that was embarrassing. Follow the rules given to allow you to run your establishment at this time, but please do not make your own! I will never set foot in there again and I will tell others what happened. read more
