Meat Lasagna, with thick melted cheese on top
Shabbir S.

Nice ambiance in a historic hotel in downtown. A fine dining place for a classy dinner!! The live piano adds a good dimension too. The food is good.... quite good!! I had meat lasagna, nicely prepared with thick melted cheese on top and dusted cheese inside. Other day I had New York AAA Sirloin, medium rare. It was perfectly grilled with aromatic flavour, tender and juicy inside... highly recommended!! The service is great. Servers are attentive and prompt. Serving style and food presentation is excellent!!

We absolutely love this place and it's certainly not our first time visiting. We decided to extend our Boxing Day fun following an afternoon at Ten Spa located in the Fort Garry Hotel on the 10th floor. We came down to the Palm Room for drinks but after seeing the menu, we decided the prices were much more reasonable than we remembered, so we decided to order food. The place was busy, as you would expect for the holidays. There were two large groups of 12+ and the entire room was full. It's a fairly small round room with most tables seating 2-4 so it doesn't take much to fill up. There are also some seats at the bar top if that's your thing. This place is very classy with a casual and romantic ambiance. We quickly noticed that there seemed to be not enough staff on hand for how busy it was. One server and the bartender working the entire room with occasional help from what seemed like the kitchen staff. We were quite surprised that the staff was managing so well but were also disappointed that such a nice place would skimp out on staff. Drink prices are incredibly affordable and even cheaper than most lounges. Surprisingly. We had the Calabrese pizza which we highly recommend. There was loads of meat and definitely enough to feed two people. We'd love to give five stars, but the one missing is not for service or staff. The one star that can be picked up for our next rating is a challenge for the management. We think this place could be better managed by making sure there is enough staff on hand. And last but not least, there is live music every evening starting at 8 pm. We stayed much later than planned to hear Ron Paley play the piano just beside our table.

The Palm Room is a classy lounge with unbelievable service. The room is outstanding; high ceilings, lots of windows and candles on each table. They really know how to make a cocktail. The live music was so entertaining. A two person jazz band, a piano player and trumpet player. I can't wait to go back!!

The space is beautiful but caters to the masses

Cool bar that distills their own vodka and gin in a space from the salvaged St. Regis Hotel. The…read morespace is on Alexander where it's part lounge/bar and part distillery. It's located in a slightly quiet area but despite walking there around 9 and leaving after 11 on a Saturday night there were no issues. No coffee, wines or beers here but there are non-alcoholic drinks and of course loads of cocktails. Most cocktails are $13 and they even offer old school punch bowls (recall the ones our parents owned) except these are smaller ones and need a min of two people for $15 each. Food was just a few cheeseboards - one is a vegan cheese board too. Loved all of the cocktails we tried: - Golden bird - patent 5 vodka, apple jack, golden apple syrup, green strawberry bitters, Malic acid - espresso martini - patent 5 vodka, dogwood neon espresso and Kahlua - Long Island gimlet - patent 5 gin, rum, tequila, house cola cordial, citric acid. This was my favourite - maybe because it has a lot of liquor. Service was laid back yet helpful. Vibe was relaxed and welcoming. Just people having a cocktail and a good time. No pretension. Loved it. I will be back!

A beautiful space in the historic exchange warehouse district nestled into a building that's easy to miss so it gives the feeling of a speak-easy when the giant garage doors aren't open into the street. There is free street parking after 530 but it's in a very walkable neighbourhood with transit nearby. The menu of original drinks is quite extensive and surprisingly reasonably priced for such carefully crafted concoctions ($10-$15 for most drinks). This place doesn't have beer (you can get that around the corner at Nonsuch) and it doesn't have wine. All it has is beautiful cocktails and small plates of food. The atmosphere is super romantic and dark so you'll need a flashlight at night to read the menu. There's really no complaints here but just a comment about the cheeseboard. At $26 it's slightly more than what Peasant Cookery and Smith charged but still a fairly decent amount of cheese. The only thing we would change is the crostini it comes with. It almost doesn't suit the fun cocktails so it would be nice to see them replace it with something thinner and not so hard.
