    Ranchero breakfast with biscuits

Fast service. The pigs in a blanket were my favorite. Sausage links wrapped with huge pancakes. I really loved the strawberry syrup sauce. Coffee was also good.

California Benedict with hasbrowns, French Toast with eggs and sausages

Quiet diner, good service, weird parking lot, and terrible food. For food, we ordered a California Benedict (weird holandaise sauce, almost as if its watered down and greased down from any flavor) with hashbrowns (crispy on top and soft underneath), and french toast (toast was fine) with sausage and eggs (sausage was greasy, eggs had no seasoning - not even salt or pepper) Getting into the lot is a little strange. If you are coming from the West or South, you would have to take a U-turn as construction is blocking off the middle lane. If you are coming from the East, its an easy right turn? But its surrounded by construction cones so it takes some to navigate that right into the lot. Staff was nice, attentive, and patient. Sat us in in just a minute, tended to our table in 5 minutes, and food came out after ordering in 15 minutes. Overall, will not come back here again. We just needed some brunch on the way to Chelan and this place just wasnt appetizing enough.

Since 1956, Smitty's has been the principal breakfast rendezvous spot for Wenatchee's orchardists. Yesterday was our first time back since 14 years ago. The ambiance is still the same, and probably won't change, in spite of the new construction for two blocks on either side of the restaurant. Our waitress, Roxanne, told us that Smitty's has been spared from almost five city blocks of demolition and repurposing by the city, on the east side of Wenatchee avenue. But for Sherrie and me, yesterday's breakfast was business as usual. Sherrie had the "Farmer's Breakfast" with Swedish crepes; I ordered the lighter faire "Good Sense". It was a pleasure to be served a whole carafe of coffee with our meal. The table was set with all the condiments you'd expect, including fruit jams with "high fructose corn syrup", and catsup with NO high fructose...etc.--something for everyone :-) :-) Our breakfast was totally satisfying and Roxanne was charming. It feels good to be back in town!

Friendly staffs. First time trying at this place. The food was okay. I felt like it was comparable to the buzz.

When she brought out the dish, there were two large ones on it because they're normally larger (!) and she wanted us to have the equivalent. It was hot and delicious and between the three of us, we polished off 2/3 of it right away. I ordered the veggie pesto hash. Soooo yummy. I ordered mine without zucchini because it's just not a breakfast veggie to me lol. I did not notice or taste any pesto in the dish but the hollandaise was excellent on top. I tried their gravy to determine what bread I wanted (biscuit was an option) and it was so good. I'm such a gravy snob and this was quite flavorful with a creamy texture. I could barely finish my hash so I didn't touch the biscuit and gravy but our daughter will have it for leftovers this week. Randy ordered the pig and vine bene with hash browns. The bacon on his was crumbles instead of actual pieces of bacon so that was disappointing and he said the hash browns were cooked inconsistently with some of it being overcooked and all of it lacking flavor. Corina ordered the three meat hash and liked it a lot. She could only eat half - the portions are large - so more leftovers for her. This is a super cute place with indoor seating and what looked like a covered patio dining area. We will definitely be back.

Today was our second visit but the first to include food. We are in town for the week and stopped by for coffee three days ago and bantered a bit with the woman working the counter whose name we found out today is Amber. She's so awesome! I hope that business knows just how amazing she is and treats her accordingly. That first day we only ordered coffee and really liked it and the banter lifted us up a bit so that was cool. Today we went in for breakfast and coffee. She remembered us and everything unique about that first encounter. It was a good feeling after a crazy few days so that was wonderful. We also met Hannah who made the excellent coffees we had. We ordered a croque monsieur with an egg on top, a beirock (not sure I'm spelling that right), quiche and a morning bun. Everything was delicious! The beirock had eggs, cheese and bacon in it in a fully closed bun. That bun had such a good flavor that I would only order that next time. The quiche was creamy and smooth but the crust wasn't good. Our daughter who lives here and loves this place, especially their quiche (she says it's better than mine, lol) says the crust usually isn't as bad as it was today. For me, it tasted like it was microwaved (and maybe it was) and that taste and texture is not good. The filling was so tasty though. The morning bun was delicious. I don't normally love sweets for breakfast but it was yummy. The croque was fan-frickin-tastic and while Randy says he's had one that's better, it's not much better and he absolutely loved it. We all had tastes of it and loved it. We will absolutely be back next time we're in town and recommend you try this place out too. If you do, please tell Amber Bobo, Coco and Momo say HI!

Sadly, many of them have moved on. But some still remain, and encountering them again is exhilarating. I always look forward to the hugs and squealing laughter.--"...where did you go and what have you done...? We've missed you!" McGlinn's Alehouse is the place we spent most of our time for the first five years of our marriage. It was originally the Orondo Tavern, built in 1922 as a solid brick two-story commercial building in the small town rural American style--big, open storefront windows on the ground floor, and small offices and apartments on the second, with tiny windows surrounded in iron bar planters. Such buildings have long narrow internal staircases up the right side entrance--one you'd never access unless to lived in one of those vaults upstairs. I finally returned to McGlinn's tonight. I had been meaning to, long before this, but there was never any parking in front --many restaurants now have covered sidewalk-cabanas out front--a code violation waved during the COVID pandemic. Inside, the left wall is still that half-block-long cabinet of all the liquor bottles you can imagine, multiplied in depth by the mirrors behind them. Down the middle of the room is one long continuous table that seats 14 people on a side--yes, strangers sit together. At the very back wall there is still, the largest brick open-hearth wood-burning oven you'd ever bake a leg of lamb and two pizzas in, at the same time. And down the right side-wall were six wooden tables-of-four, all sealed in a hard resin clear coat, as shiny and clean as they were vintage and rustic. I sat in the first chair at the first table, my back to the stairway down to bathrooms in the basement below the sidewalk. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Tim's chips, a departure from the "John Paul Bacon Burger with pickled onions (McGlinn's is famous for). Ask to sit in Sadie's section--she's been there 20 years. McGlinn's has been there 34 years! What's not to like about an old friend! -------== ##### ==-------
