Really cute coffee shop with extensive coffee/tea offerings. I'm not a coffee person, so it's always nice when I can choose from more than just the tea bags. They have some really interesting tea options, and their matcha looked promising. I trust coffee shops that roast their own beans rather than featuring beans from another joint. I ended up having a white tea option, and it was delightful. Friendly staff who were patient and knowledgeable. My husband was able to learn a few tips on making good latte art. Mela Coffee Roasting is a good spot to get coffee in the downtown area of Wenatchee as it features all the classics and more, with breakfast items in an inviting space. I'm always down to support local, small coffee shops and Mela Coffee makes it easy to do just that. We visited Mela for some coffee and a light breakfast on a Sunday and the place was busy, but the line wasn't too long and we were able to snag a table in the shade outside of the shop. Inside, I noticed there was a stage area, in addition to lots of comfy seating, which makes for a great community space. I ordered a drip and my partner had the chai tea with spice, and we shared a breakfast burrito. The drip was solid and smooth, so was a nice pick-me-up. My partner enjoyed his chai, especially since it had more spice than sugar/a sweet flavor. The breakfast burrito was salty and good enough that the side of spicy mayo was unnecessary. Located in downtown, we moved out of Wenatchee before this place opened up. A beautiful building and inside was nice and spacious with multiple areas to sit. They have a nice bar you can sit and enjoy your drink as well. My daughter got hot tea but it was so hot it reminded me of the McDonald's lawsuit where the woman sued for getting 3rd degree burns. We asked for another cup and put some ice water that they offer at the back counter in it to cool it enough to be able to drink it. My coffee was a good cup of coffee nothing more. My husband got the mocha and said it was good. I wasn't paying attention to the prices so I don't know if it was overpriced. I did go into 2 other coffee places and just a cup of coffee was twice as much as I usually pay outside of Wenatchee. Still if in downtown you should go in and check it out. read more

Holy high tea! I went ere to meet someone for a meeting. I ordered a 16oz iced tea. The price was $6.55 before tax and any tip. Ummmm what! The ambiance was nice and the service is what you would expect from a coffee place. Now, I try to go local anytime I possibly can. However, I cannot justify being taken to the cleaners either. Mela tries hard and mostly succeeds. Although I can't think of anything I would do differently if I owned the place, there just seems to be a tiny bit off that you can't quite put your finger on that prevents a five star rating. They have these burritos for breakfast which aren't the best, but the sauce that comes with them is incredible and takes them over the top. Their espresso is the best in town. If they had a drive through I would never go to Auto-Mocha. Try a cappuccino with a biscotti one day. Dip the biscotti in the cap. You won't regret it. 4.5 stars. read more

It was not available in their Cafe Mela and I tried ordering online but it may have taken several days for USPS delivery. I stopped at the Mela Roastery on Orondo St. Dalton greeted me when I entered. I told him my dilemma and he offered to have two bags waiting for me in an hour, right after my meeting a block away. I visited here before come back from Wenatchee. I got Ethiopia yirgacheffe dopio and ice americano. Their coffee was fresh and good maybe because they roast their own. I loved that they have many single origin choices. I loved the drawings on the wall. I wish they open cafe in Seattle too. In my opinion, this is one of few do good specialty coffee. read more

First time visiting Wenatchee WA. It's a nice beautiful city/town whatever you it. I'm always a fan of going to a local cafe than Starbuck. I found this place when I was walking around the downtown area. I decided to go in and give them a try. The inside of the cafe looks decent and the atmosphere is warming, not too big or small and it looks very clean and open space. The best part I liked about "Mela" is they have a bar. They don't serve alcohol but they do serve non-alcoholic drink and foods. Friendly service, I order an expresso. It was alright, but I do like the drawing of my leaf. Only thing could improve if they actually said something about my drink was ready that will be awesome. They just left it at the counter, I was just sitting at the bar waiting with my friend. It wasn't a big deal I just got my drink late haha. I would go back there and just grab a drink and sit there with my computer or book and spend couple hours there. read more

Wow! I really enjoy this coffee shop in downtown Wenatchee. I visited to eat breakfast and get work done. The oatmeal is unique because it doesn't have a gummy consistency. It's as each oat is heated to where it's edible and you can enjoy each toothsome oat. I'm not sure how they cook it to get that consistency. It was very beautiful to look at and even better to eat. I ordered the special coffee a ginger bee. Coffee with ginger syrup, honey, and foam. It was different as I'm more of a milk drinker with coffee instead of being a coffee addict. I haven't been to this coffee shop in years! There have been a lot of positive changes to this place since I had last been. (Back then it was known as Cafe Mela.) I met a friend for brunch and ordered the French toast and a salted caramel latte. I'm kind of a coffee snob and felt like the bean was a little too bitter for my liking. I am aware that they now roast their own coffee and have lots of take home options. The French toast had a lot of cinnamon and not very many berries. It was good. Most places I frequently brunch at have a side of meat that comes with the French toast to balance out the sweetness. For $12 I was slightly disappointed. I was impressed with the display of art available to purchase and the vibe of this cafe. Coffee is good but not great, normally have a medium and a medium dark roast. They only have sugar or stevia as sweetener options. Limited breakfast options, but what they have is good. Why 3 stars? Because no hot breakfast on Sundays is unfortunate. --- --- --- I was very excited to try some solid breakfast, but learned that they basically only have muffins on Sundays. I think there could absolutely be a good reason for this - i.e. Sunday is the day off for the owners, the owners go to church on Sunday instead of cooking, etc. etc. But there's no mention of this on the website, and no one enjoys looking forward to something, only for it not to happen. The second reason for my 3-star rating was the general apathy of the employee working during our visit. I don't need the whole "WELCOME TO MELA!!" treatment, but a glance up and a half-smile would have been amazing. Being my first time here, I wasn't sure where the line really started to order. There were just people awkwardly standing in different places near the counter, and I just kind of made my best guess at it. The girl behind the counter didn't look up or address us at all, and when we got to the front of the line, she just seemed generally to not be enjoying herself very much. I asked the barista what they offered for espresso and she looked confused; so I asked if it was a blend and they said no but I could look at the bag: it says "signature blend" on the front. I asked if they had other brew methods available (specifically a french press for their Costa Rican). They told me "no" because it was too busy and making a french press took too long: There were only 3 people in line including me. The espresso definitely had potential but mine was over-extracted.
