It is so sad. I have been shooping at smiths since early 90s. They are so worried about lose prevetion, that they dont care about customer service. Vince, cody, crsytal and justin are the worst. This store is frequently a convenient stop on the way home from work to grab a few things. It was recently remodeled to include a Starbucks, so I noticed some changes to the layout - but this visit was just a quick in-and-out so didn't see if it's more or less convenient. Smith's sometimes carries certain items I like that other stores close by don't. read more

How the mighty have fallen! While the store improvements are welcome, it has come at some cost. This store was a pleasant alternative to the cattle class stores such as Walmart as their customer service was terrific but that has changed, perhaps in an attempt to pay for the recent physical improvements. There used to be plenty of high school baggers but now there are few if any. Probably to force one to use the self checkout (besides you know how much money those baggers make!) the produce department seems to have undergone a complete personnel turnover, with the new people apparently recruited from Walmart. Subsequently, romaine lettuce is tagged as green leaf. And when I tried to use the new bulk goods the scale could not recognize the code I entered, so why bother opening this area? I will give this store so time and see if the customer service gets back to its previous level. If not, we'll there are other stores read more

The pharmacy staff is always very helpful and available to offer assistance on any questions I may have. I had to wait for my prescription, but it was expected they had numerous people wanting to be service at once. I understand the wait since there is a order to things, and this staff does a good job in balancing the chaos. I do not get many prescriptions, but I will definitely be back to give this pharmacy my business in the the future. read more

First: some of these reviews are way off base ..and I mean it. as to the store itself, they usually have sale items in stock and in the rare case not, always offer substitutes...the deli and bakery section carry great choices...no where else in the state can you get Taylor Pork Roll, an east coast staple. Love the store, produce department is great, employees are great. BUT the pharmacy is by far the worst pharmacy I've ever had to deal with. The employees are rude no matter the situation. I'm meant to feel as though I'm an inconvenience every time I drop off/pick up a script. Also usually a problem arises that could have been easily avoided with communication. There's one woman there that's very polite, everyone else is incredibly rude especially the manager. He should not have a job dealing with people in anyway. Hate to leave my review here for quik stop on baring but they are the same company. I had the worst service at this gas station tonight. I told the cashier sheena I wanted $30 on 5 and said it twice cause the speaker sounded like it was cutting out and she said very rudely yes $30 on 5 got it. I walked to over to car to pump my gas and it didn't work. Went back to cashier cause what s ray of sunshine she was, told her my pump was not working then she said you were on 13 on I said no I did $30 on 5 and she just got this really annoyed angry look on her face cause she switch the lumps over. Well maybe you should actually listen to customers and not be rude to them no matter what is going on your day. Customer service needs a friendly person no matter how bad their day is. It's a facade, a face you put on. Treat others as you want to be treated so I guess this cashier wants to be treated poorly since that is how she treated me. Next time I get gas I'll make sure to check who the cashier is first cause if she is working I will go else where to avoid being treated like dirt. Smith's use to be the store to go for me. Fast service. Aisles were nicely stock and clean. Always had plenty of cashiers never more than two people in line, and if there was, there was always someone there to help you. Now they barely have two cashiers, but they do have 10 self check out lanes for your convenience. And, I don't mind these stores building coffee shops inside there stores, but did they have to build a Starbucks right in front of the entrance. Is that what you want to see when you are going to a grocery store. All that does is crowd up the entrance anyways. Hey, but I am not the smart one making all the decisions. Aside from all that, Smith's still has great deals and sales. All I'm saying is that Smith's has change and not all changing are good. read more

I've been going to this Smiths location as the SaveMart, soon to be FoodMax, by me on Prater and McCarran has been closed. So, when I need a few things I've been driving over here. Smiths is decent. Their parking lot is a little wonky, be careful! Their selection is a little bit limited for my liking. I wish they had more sizes and flavors of certain items. Their ice cream section always has ice on the products which makes not want to buy it! And their on shelf supply gets depleted quickly and stays empty! I realize that some items are filled by outside vendors, but if the staff notices that a product is sold out quickly, they should inform said vendor so they fill it more often or leave some over stock in the back. The reason I gave four stars despite these issues is because the employees here really are awesome! Every interaction I've had has been positive and helpful! And they let me bring my little dog in the store, too! Add at least a dollar to every item over what you'd pay at Winco. That's why I only buy a few things when I come here. It's pricey. But, if you need to just grab bread, milk, and eggs, and Smiths is close to you, it's not a bad place to just run in for a few things! P.S. The pharmacy gets a full 5!!!! Nick is the man! Let me tell you my experience prior to meeting Nick was horrible. I couldn't get my insurance to pay for one reason or another. Mostly because insurance is a you pay them and they do nothing for you kinda Biz. Nick seen the problem he offered me a solution took a few extra steps on my part but we got it done. He was helpful thru the entire process. Even when I came back after completing the extra steps he called me by my first name and made sure everything was in order!! They sell EXPIRED goods! If it's on clearence it will be months expired! When you walk past the meat department there is an AWFUL smell! Like rotting meat! Manager is very rude, staff are loud and gossip instead of helping you out. Donuts aren't fresh, and bathrooms are hardly ever clean. Prices however are reasonable. read more

This review is for the awful pharmacy here. When going with my sister and nephew to get his antibiotics after a long day of him crying in pain from an ear infection, and a long visit at urgent care, we were treated terribly by Nicholas the pharmacy tech and Kim the manager here. Nicholas handed my sisters Insurance card back to her and said "I can't find anything helpful on here" in an extremely rude tone, "there's not even a number I can use on here". He spoke to my sister as if she's an idiot for handing him the same insurance card she uses everywhere else without issue and solely said that and told her she could pay out of pocket instead of offering to call the insurance company or suggesting she do so and directing her on what he would need. Then at pickup we told Kim (who explained what needed to be done to my sister) that we appreciated him explaining it since his coworker was so rude about it, and instead of acting like a manager should and apologizing and ensuring us he would correct his tech, Nicholas, he simply said "oh no he's fine" and then proceeded to walk over to Nicholas and have a side conversation about it right in front of us, as though we couldn't tell. The most unprofessional behavior I've ever seen at a pharmacy. The funny part is that I was considering switching to this pharmacy and now there's zero chance I will and I'll also spread the word on how poorly they treat their customers. read more

I have occasionally had to shop here, and it's so backwards and disorganized that shopping is a nightmare! The staff is not helpful in the slightest!! They watch me walking around looking for items after they tell me they have no clue where it is, rather than doing something to help figure it out. read more

This place is conveniently located right off of sparks blvd, ample parking, and everything is easy to find. I've never had any problems with produce or the meat. As a recently new resident of Sparks (from Roseville), this is my favorite supermarket. I noticed that the 3 one-star reviews (one-star?...ya, that's an honest review) were each posted one month apart and are so blatantly wrong that I can only believe that they were written by disgruntled ex-employees or employees of nearby Raleys or Safeway--both stores that have outrageously higher prices, and very few customers compared to Smiths. One of the reviews complained about the floor! Amazing since I have always noticed how clean and shiney the floors are. This Smiths is a wonderful store in every way. Large and very attractive and clean. Very good prices. Nice employees. Always a manager watching the checkout lines and opening a new checkstand if more than 2 or 3 people are in line. I like the Manager Special markdowns for one day old items. Most of the time, these have not yet reached the sell-by date. They have an ongoing sale on Pepsi and name brand soda 12-packs--usually 3 for $10 and sometimes 4 for $10. While Raleys and Safeway charge $6.49 for one 12-pack! All their Kroger brands are good. A few months ago, they had Kroger canned vegetables for 3 for $1--unbelievable. There's a large US Bank and a utlility pay counter inside. The large center seasonal aisle is like a small Target, with so many items nicely displayed. Around 4th of July and again around Christmas, in the entrance area, they have nice young women giving out punch and cake next to a sign that says "Smiths thanks you for your business." A store like this Smiths is the envy of much of the US and nearly all of the rest of the world. My only complaint is a few of the customers--like the "weight-challenged" females who go shopping in their pajama bottoms, furry slippers, and tank-tops and other gross people. But these types seem to be everywhere in these days of de-evolution. read more

I have been coming to this Smith's for well over 10 years with my family. One of my children's favorite thing to do is go to the deli and pick out their chicken and potato wedges to eat while they walk around the store. I went up to the counter and the lady who was "helping" me stood by the sink and stared at me for about 5 minutes before even asking me if I needed help. I finally got her attention and she replied "do ya need somehtin??" I was completely baffled, after placing my order she made me feel as though I was an inconvenience to her and as though customer service was not apart of her job. I hate to say this but after my experience with "Letty" at the deli, I will not be back with my children to witness such behavior. read more

It is rare that I stop here as I live far, far away. But I like Smiths in general. They have decent prices on most items. It is easy to find what you want and it is clean. I did however buy a premade product from the deli area and man was it gross. But that is not the usual. Checking out according to my receipt my cashier, nice to have ones own cashier was named Ben. He was very friendly, chatty and informative all the while getting the job done quickly. So yeah if I lived near, I would make this my store of choice. read more

I have shopped at this store for 25 years or since it opened. The recent changes are horrible. I buy groceries for the week or two. If you want to run in for one thing and use self check, you're usually good unless the computer decides you need assistance then you will wait for the "assistant" to finish their personal conversation before coming over. If you have a lot of items/alcohol/produce you need to go to one of the 2 (at most) human checkers, so you will stand in line for 20 minutes, then bag your own groceries or wait for the checker to do so after scanning everything. Got time for that? This is the store for you. I have started shopping elsewhere which is very disappointing. read more

We visit Smiths 2 to 3 times weekly and love everything about it !! From the great friendly service to the produce, seafood, deli and meat departments, this is the best grocery store in town. We also have a Smiths card that gives us extra savings on items in the store and gasoline. Our online account allows us to download digital coupons for even more savings. Most importantly, as soon as the checkout lines start getting full, they immediately summon up more help. That really shows a commitment to the customer as far as I'm concerned. I don't know about the store but at the Pharmacy the pharmacist was so rude and really upset me. He knew I was new and checking prices. The online prices for this place were nice and low we are talking around $10. but talking to him and getting prices they were $45. and $65. When I tried to ask him about he raised his voice and me =( No not friendly at all nor did he want to hear what I had to say. There was only one person in line who was very nice and talking with me so it was not that he was busy either. Very disappointed and I went to walmart where they really did have lower prices and VERY NICE and helpful on how to keep my med prices lower and where to go for the lower prices if they did not have it =) Its so hard these days with and without insurance and some of us have a rough time, we don't need people like this pharmacist to be rude with us. Store manager, Fred: 5 Stars for him, he saved me from becoming a detractor! I think his name is Fred Smith. Anyway I had a terrible experience with a couple store employees and a manager. I'm so glad I asked for the store manager because he really did the right thing and very quickly so as not to waste anymore of my time. Sparks store: 4 stars. I'm a fan of Smith's stores in general but since this one is missing the awesome sushi section, along with a couple other small things, I can't give it five stars. Close though!! Employees: The regular employees I was working with get 5 stars because they were helpful and happy. When two of the managers came onto the scene they were terrible! It was a big pot for my palm tree that I was trying to buy. The employees scanned it for me and took time to lift it into my cart because it was really heavy, and then the managers came over and said no I couldn't buy it because it wasn't for sale. Even though it was sitting out and had a price tag and scanner on it they told me that the deli department had already bought and paid for it. Even though I'd all but paid for it already, they wouldn't let the regular employees sell it to me - the managers get 0 stars. Major detractor for me. My work says "what's the right thing to do? Then do it!" So it's hard for me to except managers who have a no no no mindset.. I did ask for the store manager and when Fred came out and heard what happened he had them put it back in my cart and sell it to me immediately, no big deal, like they should have done in the first place.
