This is my home grocery store, as it's about 5 minutes from my house. Always have had good experiences here. Any time I had a question, staff was eager to help. If they didn't know the answer, they pointed me to someone who did. Store has always been clean, easy to navigate and never super busy. They close for Christmas (found that out the hard way one year), so that's the one time they're not 24 hours. I do appreciate the all day every day (almost) hours, so if you need something in the middle of the night, you don't have to venture to Walmart to get something. read more

Definitely the best grocery in the area. Great prices, family friendly folks, and a great selection. They just recently put in a healthy whole/organic foods aisle, that really provides a ton of healthier options for the uber health conscious shopper! Have shopped at this store for many years -- am now finding a little less quality - the corn I got 3 days ago I threw away - old and tough - also , have always looked for Del Monte's sliced peaches in a jar - could only find them at Raleys and Shop and Save -- now, Raley's has gone nuts and is a copy of Whole Foods, and I still am looking for those peaches. Prices at Smith's has gone up, but not nearly as much as some others -- sign of the times ! read more

It's convenient. Here in the North Valleys there's not an overabundance of shopping. As such, the prices tend to be a little on the inflated side. Because your Average Joe might not want to run all the way into town just to pick up some milk or a six pack or a box of cereal. Its worked up till now but we'll just see how well it works when Walmart opens up right across the street. Smiths stays pretty busy right now but I'm sure that will change. That said, Smiths has made an effort to update and market themselves as a more "upscale" (or, as upscale as you can get in the North Valleys) venue than Walmart. Which, come to think of it isn't that hard to do. Pretty much any grocery store is more upscale than Walmart. But I digress. They recently did a major remodel on the inside; shined up the floors, hung new signs, re-arranged the aisles (boy was it a pain to learn where the soda and chips moved to) and all that happy jazz. But Smiths is a little spendy for your average grocery items. Every now and then they'll run specials that really are good deals. But I would recommend shopping elsewhere and keeping an eye on the specials, then go to Smiths. And they do remain the cheapest milk we've found outside of Sam's Club. Cheaper milk than Walmart? What has this world come to? It's a very MEH store. Its chief attractants are its local convenience, the drive-thru pharmacy, and the redbox inside the store. The quality of everything they sell is top notch, of course but being able to go to a market where the staff who work there actually know your name is astounding to me. There's this one guy with blond hair (don't know if it's okay to say his name), but he's worked there for some time, and on days where I need a little entertainment, I might go to him rather than the self check-out just to watch how fast he can scan; he's amazing! (I'm a mom, so my standard of entertainment has dropped dramatically from where it was when I was 18) SELECTION: 5 stars Kroger is the best store brand that I have come across! We like coming here for the better selection of meats and seafood then Walmart but the produce are terrible. I bought apricots, peaches, nectarines and raspberries on Sunday and by Tuesday there was mold growing on the peaches and raspberries and by Wednesday, the apricots and nectarines were mushy and mealy. read more

Affordable and cheap food. Sells Kroger products that are affordable. The deli is amazing. You can also enjoy a fresh olive bar that is half the price as Safeway. Smith's points that you earn on buying food can be used to buy fuel. The staff is very friendly and the isles are big enough to pass others unlike other grocery stores. I am giving an honest review of our store and making an offer to my customers to come see me and let me try to help you or fix any issues I can for you :) I say 4 star because I believe we are here at this level. 5 is a perfect machine to me with no kinks(usually fleeting moments)...But this is a pretty efficient place with friendly people ready to serve. Sometimes we miss and I am here for you if that happens so please come see me! My name is Chris. When I first started at this store 9 years ago it was older looking and harder to find foreign or healthier foods...Now we serve a great variety of organics and harder to find items as well and gluten free options. I like to personally walk my produce dept. (Best Dept. in the place) and check the organics and make sure we are culling the older product and offering great fresh options. Our deli options have gotten better and it is a clean safe place to get lunch. I walk it frequently to ensure that. Bakery has great options like our new deep dark chocolate fudge mini cakes...perfect for a personal indulge with some leftovers! Yes we have sushi and if you get to them during the daytime they take orders for events! We take great pride in our meats and if you want that fat cut ribeye we will do it for you while you shop! Best dairy prices in town usually. I try to train good service habits on our front end and keep the place clean and safe for our patrons. Our customers in the Valleys are a cut above the rest in heart and character and I try to give that back. Smith's is part of the Kroger, normally a decent go-to when in need. I don't know that I would make a regular sojourn here, as I much prefer Safeway/Albertson's. But this one is nearby, so I gave it a try. Prices are in keeping with other mid-range outlets, and the store is set-up to make shopping somewhat easier than say... Raley's. However, many items I needed were not in stock, common things such as sardines and canned fruit selections. Perhaps it was a busy day. In a pinch I would consider coming here. But right across the street are both Grocery Outlet and Big Lots!, with a Walmart Supercenter looming about half a mile east, so... I may try this place again, as I see some decent reviews for sushi and other non-grocery services & items. read more

This is for the Smith's cooperation when you advertise in your weekly flyer I all ways will see you advertise items such as 10 for 10 or by 6 and get1 free but when it comes to alcoholic beverages you have an advertisement that reads 18.99 with card $15.19 20% off then at the bottom in teenie BS letters it will say when you buy any 6 bottles of wine or spirits why is it so misleading and how many people buy 6 bottles of liquor at $15.19 .unless there having a party? So please quit being misleading no one wants to think there local friendly grocery store is trying to get over on them like some shady behind the scene's drug dealer. read more

3-17-10 update: I was having some new friends over for dinner. I was going to make toastadas. So went to stupid Smiths grabbed some lean hamburger 3 packs. Bought them on Thursday cooked them Friday. I noticed that the 1st pack smelled weird while cooking. I tasted a small amount and almost puked. I asked everyone else to smell and try it. Everyone agreed it tasted a little off. So I threw it away and fried up the next 2 packs.. guess what it was gross AGAIN! So now I have wasted money on 3 packs of spoiled meat. While shopping I also overheard 2 employees cussing and bad mouthing other employees. I called to complain I had to leave a message because the manager was on the phone. She was supposed to call me back but she did not. I won't be going back to this place they can suck it! No matter the time of day or day for that matter u end up sacking your own groceries. I thought I was at Smiths not sack-n-save! There r at least 2 employees that r really nice. Hispanic lady with long curly hair and an older gentlemen with white hair. I am stuck going to this place cause I live out in Cold Springs. I should just drive down farther and go to Raleys. read more

We just switched our Rx here for the $4 generic price. Having filled the same Rx a couple of times already, this time we went in to get the same ones filled before we left town. Arriving at 9am, with nobody else waiting, we were told there is a 30 min wait. We explained that we were hurrying to get out of town, the clerk was very snotty repeating the 30min wait. Then stabbed her finger in the direction of about 10 waiting Rx and snapped "we have all those to fill before 1pm." I'm sorry, we are here NOW, five minutes to fill ours won't make those late. Those people aren't even here. Very dissatisfied with how we were spoken too. We will be changing pharmacy provider back to our previous. read more

To the pharmacy lady at smiths on Lemmon who was working the window at 3:30 pm, and the woman you helped ahead of us she came up long after us as we wait in the drop off machine you allowed her service ahead of us instead of asking who's next? You should be fired! Not only did you help her first because she had a button to push? But after asking me had I been there before and I said yes, but maybe not after today, your reply was your scripts will be ready after 5 pm today but you did not thank us! To the lady rushing to push the button, you KNEW we waiting, you too did not ask if we were next but you allowed the lady to help you instead of us. The next time I get out of my car to confront you I won't be so nice after you saying to me, I'm sorry you're having a bad day, have a nice day, no I'll throat punch you and then I'll tell you the same thing! I have been going to this store since we moved to Reno in 2007. They have made a few changes over the years and I find the store to be clean and fairly well organized. Always a decent selection of produce and meats. With their last upgrade they brought in some new items, one of which is a 3-in-1 coffee that, up until now, I could only get in the Asian market. Prices are reasonable. Coupons can be loaded directly on your shoppers card so you don't have to remember to bring them with you. For every $100 spent you get $0.10 off per gallon of gas. Since it is just my son and I, I typically get 30-40 cents off per gallon which is a nice savings. The only downside is that points are only good for the current month plus one so you can't save up your points anymore. I haven't visited any other Smith's in Reno/Sparks but I find this one to be comparable to others I have visited in other cities. read more

The produce and meats are fresh. The prices are very good for the quality that you get. Most of the employees are friendly and helpful. This is one of our main grocery stores we shop at. For one, they got Poke Bowls, sushi, Teriyaki Bowls. which is a plus for us when you from Hawaii. Their enchiladas are bomb too, especially when you get them on price reduction. Prices are not the cheapest here but they do have good specials. Their employees are very friendly and courteous and treat you like family which is a big reason for a 5 Star. read more

For the most part this store is great. I love the little sushi place inside the deli area as well as the rest of the store. It's always clean and well organized. I never have a long wait when it's time to check out and the staff is always friendly. My only complaint is their produce section. The produce never seems fresh and crisp, the way fresh veggies should be. It reminds me of how my vegetables look after I've forgotten about them in the fridge for a while and need to use them up before they actually go bad. I needed a bell pepper the other day and I couldn't find a single one without mold on the stem. read more

Went to grab some groceries I didn't find at my local raleys, walked in and smelt their fried chicken. I just ate but oh my gosh it smelt so good. So I had to get some. They said they just cooked them. When I got home and ate some, oh my wow was that probably the best fried chicken I've had ever. I'm a avid fried chicken fan my family and I would get chicken every weekend since I was little. And no I'm not 200 lbs. But I highly recommend their fried chicken in their deli. Smith's Food and Drug is one of the closest large chain grocery store to our home. Good location right of the freeway at Exit 74. The store has been recently remodeled in the past year than the prices started going up. I really like walking around and check out everything from patio furniture, produce, meat and deli depts. They have self-check stands which is really nice. Sometimes if your like me and you just don't want to talk to anyone, you can use the self-check. Plenty of parking and located near a Papa Murphy's, Jack in a Box, Bank of a America, AT&T and Walgreen's. read more

Rushed in to get an ice cream cake couldn't find one and this lady saw that I was going back and forth looking for something she was even on her break and she stopped to ask if I needed help, asked where the ice cream cakes are and she took me right to them, the store is always clean and the staff is always nice and helpful. LOVE this store! Prices are low and employees are friendly. I rather go here than Walmart or even Grocery Outlet. They have a great selection, great sales and I especially love their fuel rewards program. Also, I rarely have to wait in line longer than a few minutes before it's my turn - whether it's at the self check-out or a cashier, and they're always willing to call another cashier to open up. I've been to the Smith's in South Reno and that one's fine, no complaints. But this one is my fave. I've been to this location at all hours and have never felt unsafe. I used to live in Hercules, California and shopped at the neighborhood Albertson's, a store that was robbed at least a few times a month. This locale is nothing compared to that experience. This is probably the second best Smith's in the area. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Smith's in South Reno, which competes with Whole Paycheck, but it is better than the one in Sparks. The store is big and bright. I don't shop here much but I've had less success getting help here from employees than I've had at other Smith's. read more

Used to shop at Raley's nearby until I realized that this place is a whole lot cheaper! I mean...a whoooooole lot cheaper! How does Raley's stay in business? They send me coupons every month and if you get the App you can get coupons that way too. I think the gas point program they got going is good and a great draw for people too. This place is a mad house on weekends and parking is tight at times. Also I wish Smith's had more Vegetarian/Vegan options for people. Overall though, I highly enjoy this place as my neighborhood grocery store. read more

This store really does not compare with other Smiths. Wandering the north valley we decided to stop here since it was right there. The reasons I am not fond of this store stated in an earlier review still stand. Yet one more reason popped up. I ordered some Greek salad. served it and Gus and I both took a bite at the same time and we both spit it out, man it was horrible. You folks who make this stuff should taste it rather than charging folks for such crap. read more
