This is a nice Smith's with nice employees. Places like grocery stores and popular food chains will often have low overall ratings, but that's because they have so many customers and more who would get online to complain about their bad experiences. Bottom line is that these places that cater to thousands of customers a day will have a proportionate large number of complaints. But that will not stop people from still shopping there. Such is the case for this Smith's. This location is clean, well stocked, and has nice employees. I don't know what else you would look for in a grocery store. The high end would be Harmon's, low end would be Ream's. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. I placed order through instacart and the female cashier just rang up 1 item out of 26 items and because it was a Spanish speaking shopper she just closed out the order and rang up only 1 item and would not allow the shopper to keep ringing up the rest of my order. This is absolutely unacceptable conduct by a cashier to see the shopping cart was still full of items just ring up 1 item and then close out the order and not allow the shopper to keep using the same QR code. All because of a language barrier and now I have no money and no food, I also have to wait few days to get a refund. The manager at Smiths was NO help whatsoever and kicked the can down the road because of instacart This is poor quality of customer service and negligence on the cashier and NO customer service care by the manager. I came in last night 11-19-24 and bought these for my kids snacks and went to give him one this morning 11-20-24 and noticed they expired in MAY 15, 2024! Over 7 months expired! This is insane! I really hope no one else bought these! I am extremely disappointed and will not be purchasing anything from this location again! I have lived in this area for about 3 yrs now and have been coming over to this Smiths location instead of the 9400 S and 2000 E where I used to live. Does anyone else patronise this Smiths over here on Fort Union 900 E.? What I have noticed in the last year or so is that I am feeling less and less safe in this location. The area seems to be getting more and more run down and the store sidewalk approach up in front seems to have more and more less desirable ppl lingering. No managers seem to be attentive. I have seen ppl doing drugs, and highly suspected drug deals going down in the parking lot, ppl looking practically homeless or high with questionable behavior. I am female, and tonight a man really frightened me going out to the parking lot. He was walking slightly in front of me and he suddenly stopped and then I stopped, and he looked me in the face and creepily smiled, and eerily said to me, "Heeelllooo." He was super tall and big, had super greasy dirty long hair, wore like a Carhardt coat, and seriously reeked of "intense" concentrated cigarette smoke that stuck with me even after I got into my car and locked my door. I just felt so uneasy and not safe. Honestly, I am not a jerk and am a pretty tolerant person. I have bought quite a lot of groceries that have either "expired" or were close to expiring. This Smiths is by far one of the worst that I've ever gone into! Some of the employees are nice specifically a guy that works at the self-check out. The "manager" Jeanette always attitude same with the other lady she's just never wears her name tag. Cracks in their floor, dirty in the produce in dairy section. Are you seeing what I'm seeing? As of today, I'm the Yelp Duke of this place. I take that role quite seriously. The battle is on between me and the other check-in regular; we keep having this back-and-forth and I hope eventually we're going to end up together at the store and we'll just see what kind of fireworks ensue. For now, I've taken it back and figured it's time for an update. It goes without saying that this has become a go-to stop for me. I actually still just spent the entire first paragraph implying it, but given my Dukedom it's fair to say I stop here more than any other grocery store. It's not because it's always my favorite, but it's because I know the layout and it's convenient right there to access from I-15 and I-215. It's reliable. It's not necessarily completely endearing, but I don't have any major beef with it. Speaking of beef, the meat section is a little wanting--they have all of the basics but anytime I want to venture outside of the normal ground beef/few steaks/basic pork and chicken cuts, I have to go somewhere else. But again, that's what they're about: reliability. Maybe it's a minor complaint but this whole black-and-yellow price branding thing that they're doing is a turn-off. Maybe they're getting squeezed out of the middle--other grocers have done the high road fancy organic route, and others the bargain basement, but I like them in the middle. This dive towards bargain branding feels off brand and I don't love it. I do love the clearance stuff. Meat isn't too heavily discounted, but I find great bakery stuff, cheeses, and occasionally frozen goods that are significantly cheaper. As I've mentioned before, you never know who you might run into in the parking lot at the grocery store. Alright Smith's. I have to upgrade your rating. In many ways you are still a three star grocery store. You are kind of old and grimy. Parking sucks. Your produce is disappointing. But I have to be honest, and in the past few months I've found myself stopping by at least once a week. It's not the most enjoyable place to shop, but their clearance items make it worth checking in pretty often. Their cheese selection is also the best of any other Smith's in the area, and less than what you'll pay at Harmon's. The employees are all really sweet and nice, and I've never waited in line more than a few minutes (and that's pretty rare). Your extra star is being added grudgingly, but there it is. read more

Was waiting for meat when I saw a female employee (claims it is her store) kick a customer out for no reason. Employee was swearing and treating customer with extreme disrespect. The customer then tried to go to cashier and leave and employee followed and continued to cause a scene. Did not let customer buy groceries for absolutely no reason. This employee should be fired asap for not having excellent customer service in a customer service field. I have seen more respect from a criminal if I'm honest. This is one of the better Smith's in the valley for a variety of food selections. It's not a super Smith's like the one downtown, but I don't shop Smith's for non-food items, like clothes. They are consistent on the quality of freshness of their produce, which is the main reason I shop here. I'm not a fan of the quality of their meat. To me it has a lot of added "water" in each selection. I'll buy it if I'm there, but go to other stores if I want a good quality meat selection. I use their "card" not only for discounts on items, but for the discount on gas. I bring my own bags because they give me bag credit, which goes towards discounted gas, and it helps the environment. read more

I have been shopping here for years and have watched it go down hill. The other day, a woman who has checked me out many times was sweeping through the produce with blood running out of her nose. I stopped her and asked if she knew and was ok. She said she knew and used her sleeve. Then she left the broom for 5 min and came back. I understand stuff happens, but the fact she knew...ugh. Then I went to get some onions and noticed fruit flies flying out of the mesh bags. I reported it but they didn't act concerned. This is the worst Smith I've been to so far during a Monday around 6 o'clock there were only two check stands open with no baggers and over 15 people in line. It took me 18 minutes to check out the manager doesn't care and just cracks jokes the whole time delay. Cold cuts section well stocked and they have low sodium ones too. Bakery has good cakes, some of the best cotton candy too. Good sized Smith's that is well-stocked with plenty of different food options. Great meats selection, and I love that they are one of the only grocers around where I can buy ground lamb, because here's a hint- if you use half lamb and half beef in your burgers, they taste 10X better and lamb is better for you. Sad with the lack of ethnic (Middle Eastern and Thai specifically) food options they have here compared to the Smith's I would go to in Orem. I will say that their grab and go sushi is the best grocery store sushi I've ever had! It's even better than a lot of sushi that is getting made in some of the sushi and Japanese restaurants around town. This store stays pretty clean, and the staff is helpful. I love Smith's, it's my go to grocery store. This store is always stocked with fresh products, clean, and very busy. This time around I tried the ClickList online. In need of groceries but feeling extremely lazy, I decided to try ClickList. The process online was just ok, you need to select a time for pick up, the earlier you book the more likely your groceries will be ready by 5pm. Grocery list must be needed cuz browsing for goodies takes way to long. I got to the store and called for them to bring my groceries out, the young man was awesome and nice and I was in and out of the parking lot in less than 10 minutes. read more

DONT BOTHER WITH CLICK LIST. You either get home and realize half your order is missing, or they just flat out cancel your order because "they are short staff". After speaking with the manager, she did not have anything better to say other than "they are doing their best" She did not apologize for the inconvenience they caused. Sometimes a simple, "im sorry" goes a long way. I have been using click list for a year and a half and have had nothing but problems the past few months. I don't love it. I don't hate it. It's functional, and that's A-OK. It's not the cleanest, but I wouldn't label it as dirty either. Just a little outdated... a little cluttered feeling. Parking lot can be a mess if it's peak time. Produce section is often lacking. Meat selection isn't always impressive, although you can generally find some good last minute deals before things go bad. They also have great deals if you're going to buy your meat in bulk. There's hardly ever any employees to check you out, but the self checkout generally doesn't have a line so that's easy and convenient. I can generally find everything I need for my grocery shopping needs, so all in all, this Smith's does its job. read more

Truly - this review has nothing to do with the employees that work there. They are great. This review has to do with business operations. The lack of cart maintenance is the most frustrating thing ever. The hand baskets are NEVER stocked, more than half the time carts with "locked" wheels are just laid out in the entrance of the store AND the smaller carts are never in stock. & The prices are so mislabeled here or items don't have prices at all. Half the time I have to tell the checker to remove certain items because the price I saw, was not the price I was rung up for. & yes, I do have a smiths rewards card to get discounts, so I am not talking out prices related to this. I have a family of six and we go through a lot of money on groceries, cleaning products, gas eat and most of it purchased from Smiths' until now! They have been going down hill rapidly the past year. Getting home and finding our salad mix and dairy products are 1 day away from expiration date. They've just made it too damn hard to shop and trust. Go 4 blocks south and you'll run into a Harmons. I should not have trusted they would fill my order..... I made an order for a wrap platter for a baby shower and I received confirmation they received the order to pick up at 4:30 Friday, but never got a "your order is ready" and waited until 6:30 pm on Friday and went in and they said it was on the clip board but they just saw it so there was nothing they could do and I needed to call management..... very frustrated... not a fan of this store. read more

This one star is specifically being awarded to their pharmacy. Worst pharm I've personally ever been to, and I've lived here most of my life. Today my dr. called in an rx at 9:22 a.m. I called the pharmacy every hour all day today, left a couple of messages, and they never picked up their phone or called back. After my dr. called and couldn't get them to answer their phone either, she called customer service and had to have someone literally walk over to tell the pharmacy she was calling them in two minutes. When they finally picked up, they insisted that she hadn't sent anything in (same as they told me each time I stopped in to check), but she finally got them to pull their head out of their a$$es and fill it. When I went over to pick it up an hour later (to be sure to give them plenty of time), they once again insisted my doctor had not called or faxed anything in - when in reality, she'd done both. When I decided at 5 p.m. they again said they didn't have it, but somehow decided that "it was being filled". I asked about the other rx I'd called in with a refill several hours before-hand, making it clear I'd be in to pick it up as soon as my other rx had been filled, they said they didn't have anything showing I'd called that one in. OMG! Absolutely dumbest people I've had to deal with who, scarily, had to go to at least some schooling to work in a pharmacy. When I went back another hour later, the guy said he couldn't find them in the system, but then decided they were ready for me to pick up, but I'd have to go to the back of the line. I looked back at the line and asked "you mean THAT line?" It was nine people long, he said hold on, that is long and walked away as he was going to get my meds. He came back 10 minutes later and asked "so are you going to wait?...in that line?" Seriously one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any pharmacy, and having a chronic auto-immune disease, I'm no stranger to my doctor's office or to pharmacies. This is a nice looking market but the service SUCKS! Every time I go in this place I have to wait a long time in line. Today they had one "15 items or less express line" open and some prick with about 100 items beat me to the line. I had one item and I wanted to purchased Utah State Fair tickets. I went to another line where this Hispanic lady covered in tattoos was the cashier and she had a piss poor attitude. I wanted to ask customer service a question when I first entered the store but the girl behind the counter LOVES to hear herself talk. After waiting in line for 5 minutes I gave up. In all, it took me 20 minutes to buy one item and two state fair tickets. The girl at the customer service counter was "helping" the same guy the whole time I was in the store, RIDICULOUS!! This is typical of this store and the sad thing is that I ALWAYS go in the middle of the day on a weekday when the store isn't busy. The selection is decent, they have good sales pretty regularly, other Smith's are pretty good, but this one SUCKS!! They need better employees, more employees, and they need to fire about half the idiots working there especially that moron girl that works the customer service desk. read more
