I went Winco in Midvale. I don't usually shop here but their meat dept. Is clean and they have great prices on Ribeye Steaks. Tonight they had 2 check stands open and the Self Service was open as well. It was nice to get through the store in reasonable time. Midvale utah store use to be great, but since the first of 2026 there must have been a management change or something. The store is not the same long time works that I've known for 5 years or more are suddenly gone. No one in the store seams to know what their doing. The assistant manger with corn rolls, omg how did he get ast manager he dint know crap. Store has went down hill big time i no longer shop at any winco if rather go where the employees know what's going on. And the stale bread in not sure how many times I'd bought bread there that's been expired like no one checks the dates, but i guess that's what you get with piss poor management. read more

WinCo is affordable. They carry a lot of items I don't normally see at other grocery stores, like bulk Sixlet candies. And after the shooting four years ago, security seems to have increased, so I don't feel as nervous going there as I otherwise would. But there's a lot of bad. The store is badly organized with inadequate signage. I usually leave without multiple items on my list, and they're usually pretty normal items, too. Case in point: a few weeks ago, I had pretzels on my shopping list and had to give up after looking in the candy/chips/snacks aisle and the peanut butter/cereal/granola aisle AND the bakery AND walking around the whole store three or four times. More than one cashier has asked an invasive question or made an uncomfortable comment (although, to be fair, this isn't unique to WinCo. Grocery store personnel in general seem to be going through an interesting phase). Either way, I try to go through the self-checkout aisle as much as possible to avoid the staff. read more

Once upon a time Winco was the grocery leader in affordable pricing. Now they are as unremarkable and failing as the rest of the legacy old-time greedy supermarkets nearby. A few years ago their bulk unsealed coffee was $5.30 a pound, now it is $11 and still rising! Yet Costco has maintained their Kirkland coffee for only $7.50 a pound for the past 15 years and still holding today! Bulk unfresh and oxidized white-filmed chocolate candies at Winco used to be $3.00 a pound, now they are pushing $8. Might as well buy name brand air-tight candies in quality controlled sealed bags elsewhere. Winco hamburger meat wiped the competitors off the map at $4.50 a pound but now it is almost $8 a pound! Surprise, surprise, Costco bulk hamburger is still $5 a pound. Winco bakery was the greatest when it first opened in our Midvale location. Bread and desserts were baked fresh and had a great homemade taste. Now everything tastes like a frozen, prepackaged, chemical-induced cancerous creation which obviously has been imported to save "money". And Winco produced still looks like it fell onto I-15 during rush hour along with a muddy rain storm. Winco, the public has spoken and we hereby give you the honorary title of Loss-co. Your time is about up. We hope you can come back to your original foundational monetary senses with a real care for the consumer. Until then, we're off to Costco for a $1.50 lunch special and a tremendous savings grocery spree. read more

Sometimes there is a really long wait to check out, but more often than not I get through the checkout line right away. There's no such thing as a fast trip to this location. I've had times that the line was 45 minutes to checkout! I love that the store is open 24 hours and their prices are pretty good, but they really need more staff. This is also the only place I use my debit card and I've had to replace it multiple times due to fraudulent charges. I have really dry and itchy scalp due to health issues, I happened to find sulfur8 scalp therapy medicated scalp spray. No matter the brand for someone for itchy dry scalp is usually expensive, since this was on sale for like $1.20 normally $16 on Amazon I bought 2. It does spray further out, kind of like a plant spray however I've just found and used something I had at home that sprayed right on the spots I need and not all over. I don't like it at a detangler because it weighs my hair down. I have naturally curly hair so I already add a few other products but if u find this on sale I would get it. It's not worth $16 from Amazon or $9 from Walmart. I have also been finding some good hair products on sale for cheap at winco, I also found Garnier mega full thickening lotion. Price ranges from $9-$20! I got 2 at winco for .50 cents each. I love this stuff if used the right way because with my health issues my hair is thinning. My winco has 2 spots for clearance or sale stuff in midvale utah. One place is a cart by the fresh bread and then on the aisles where the items are, u just have to take to chance to look. Oh HELL yes! It took me forever and a half to walk into Winco because the "discount foods" concept really had me weary. But I finally took the plunge and walked in, and oh my life I was thrilled. I probably spent an hour in this place and feel like I saw 10% of it. Honey - they have oxtail, leg of lamb, Frenched rack of lamb, they've got Cornish game hens, tripe, all your typical beef, pork, and chicken cuts. They have huge amounts of produce for cheap, and the bulk section is absolutely to die for. You can buy beans, lentils, specialty flours, every color of quinoa, split peas, spices, pastas, trail mixes, nuts, and every imaginable seed, salted, plain, roasted - anything you want. They have Farro! They have amaranth!!! And most importantly, they have my 1lb. bricks of saf-instant yeast. I am yours, Winco. I went completely off the rails and far beyond my shopping list, I STILL came in under my grocery budget. They have gallons of bleach for under a dollar! WTF?!?!?! This store is great for certain things, but you'll have to go somewhere else if you want a large variety of fresh produce, or a wide array of specialty cheeses. But don't get me wrong. They have cheese. A lot of it. And coffee - probably a dozen different roasts in bulk. I was able to purchase pounds and pounds of beautiful yellow onions for French onion soup - but couldn't find gruyère, it's a trade off. Also, I should address the location itself. It's old, bare bones, no frills - very warehouse-y. It's not glamorous - and I love glamorous, I love me a bougie grocery store; but Winco is the opposite. And you're going to be bagging your own groceries - all these things help them keep their prices so low - and its awesome. There are gems inside, and it's worth the trip. You can't beat WinCo's prices either! It's a huge warehouse of items and easy to get around. They're also open 24 hours a day, so it's perfect for nite owls and late nite bakers, like myself! ;) The employees always seem disgruntled, no matter what time you're there, but I don't know why, since they're part owners of the place. My rating via Yelp's system 4. My actually rating 3.5. WinCo is a weird one to review for me. Do they have lower prices, sure. Are they always the best deals? Not really. I have things I love about this place and things i truly dislike about this place. I don't mind the debit card policy because not only does it save them money, it might make people reconsider their spending habits on credit cards. From a business standpoint, this is a great idea First the likes. WinCo fried chicken from the deli is hands down THE BEST grocery store chicken you can get. What's better is that it's fairly cheap and readily available! You can buy repackaged things like rotisserie chicken, cheese slices and a pretty good selection of meats and packaged meats as well. I have to praise the bulk section. This is one of the only reasons to come here, besides the chicken. You can buy anything from pantry staples to bulk candies here. They have rows of stuff like flour, baking items, spices, trail mix, I think you get the idea. The beer selection at this location is also pretty decent, although other Winco stores have a better selection. For the dislikes, The produce seems alright. I don't buy my produce here but if I'm in a pinch I can buy the everyday things. They have a lot of stuff. Not necessarily and bad thing, but there are things that I'm doubting are hot sellers. The prices aren't necessarily great on items like toiletries. The bakery is pretty small. For basics that's great though. The store has staff but I'm not sure where they are to be found. I see them stocking shelves in the afternoon but even then they are few and far apart. They are always busy and never seem to have enough registers open to help this. The line for the self checkout and the normal registers usually stretches a good quarter to halfway through the store in the afternoon and evenings. I have probably echoed most people's feelings about this place but in a pinch I don't think WinCo is a bad choice. I can get things on sale at other places for better prices, but for convenience and everyday things I will drop by here on the way home. read more

The checkout lines are ridiculous. Not because of all the customers but because there are only two check stands open on a Saturday morning. I never buy winco brand anything because the quality is terrible. I had an awful experience this morning because a lady butted in front of me at the checkstand even though my items were ALREADY on the checkstand belt. Grrrrr. My son whom has a bone disease, just had surgery a few months ago on his legs was using one of the motor scooters offered by the store. Cheyenne , whom is the store manager stopped him and told him to get off. My son told her he has Fairbanks disease and gets too tired in his legs from walking through the store. She asked what Fairbanks is yet still kicked him off of it! I tried telling her he needs it and was told there is a store policy against kids using them. This feels like a good lawsuit. My son is extremely small for his age, she felt he needed to be degraded even more after kicking him off the cart and told me to put him in one for mentally handicapped children. We have a few months to wait for his medical scooter prescription to be made. Absolutely disgraceful winco! Prices here are often better than Costco! The store is always clean and the staff is friendly. Their variety of produce is fresh. Great selection of deli meats and cheeses. The only reason I am giving this location a 4 star is because I literally have to move about 10 carts every time I go in, the reason being is the infant belt is missing or broken and I try to move all of these carts while holding my 10 month old. Winco is perfect, barring the rule that those with more than 15 items cannot go to the self checkout. My suggestion, allow it. I can do it far quicker that way, and be on my way. Not a great grocery store. The first time I walked in to WinCo my immediate thought was that it looked like it needed to be remodeled. It's got that desperate Food-4-Less feel to it. It's clean, but depressing. And who chose turquoise and orange as the color scheme? My guess: their corporate designer who listens to Wang Chung, drives a TransAm, and thinks Miami Vice is rad. Totally 80's, and not in the fun, retro, nostalgic way. Look, I don't need a sexy or swank place to go grocery shopping. I'm buying food, not fall fashions. But for crying out loud, you had a blank canvas and you actually UNimproved it. So they purport to have the lowest prices in town. Maybe, maybe not. When they put up their doorbuster items, they're ridiculously cheap. They don't do it often, but when they do you can stock up on pop or chips or whatever it is and spend almost nothing. Everyday prices are about what you'd expect from other grocery stores. No matter waht WinCo says, every grocery store wins some and loses some; that's just the nature of the supermarket business. The produce section has an average selection of fruits and veggies but I'm not too impressed with the quality. It either looks like it's been on the shelf for waaay to long, or it looks like it was created in a factory somewhere and engineered for WinCo. It's hard to imagine most of this stuff coming from a farm. I usually skip the produce section now. WinCo's saving grace? The bulk foods concept. Especially in the spices section. I can either buy a few tablespoons of something for .50 cents, or I can go somewhere else and buy an entire jar for 5 or 6 bucks. Then the jar sits in the cupboard and only gets used once a year. Just seems wasteful, so WinCo has a big plus in this category. I don't know that their execution of the bulk foods concept is perfect. I love that I can get small quantities of tapioca flour, for example, but I don't know that it's necessarily quality tapioca flour. The second that someone else offers such a variety of bulk foods and they're QUALITY foods, I don't know what advantages WinCo will have anymore. Tillamook ice cream? Fair enough. Their bakery falls seriously short, but it looks like they're not really trying to compete, so I don't expect great baked goods here. Dairy is large with all the usual products and cheap cheeses. The rest of the goods are middle of the line. Not a great selection of organics or interesting products. This is where you just pick up your sliced wonder bread or canned tomatoes and move on. They don't accept credit cards which is annoying but perfectly workable if you know ahead of time. Bag your own groceries. I secretly enjoy this. One final thought I have to get off my chest. What is deal with that turd of a building? Am I the only one who thinks it's a gigantic box with some funky '80s tiles. Sort of a massive eyesore and a blight on the community. In a time when even Wal-Mart is making decent, modern, interesting looking structures around the country in an effort to be a better neighbor, you'd think a small regional company like WinCo could do a better job than that Riverwalk box.. You know you're doing something wrong when Wal-Mart's a better neighbor. I will continue to pop in here for the bulk foods or the odd convenience stop. It's nice having a store in this part of the valley where it was needed. At the end of the day, though, I look fore more in a grocery store than just cutting corners to cut prices. Meh. This is my first time venturing into a Winco. And let me say, it didn't disappoint--well, maybe except for the random blast of air that tore my face off when I first walked in the door. Other than that, it's a pretty sleek place. There is literally everything there you can think of, between doughnuts and gum to cosmetics and dental supplies, name it and you can find it. I was a fan of the chocolate treat dispensers, weighed by the pound and a great price! Try the chocolate covered cinnamon bears and the peanut nut clusters. Another winner was the dried grapefruit, oh my heck. I also was able to purchase my favorite beverage, in bulk. Arizona drinks--normally $0.99 but there they are $0.76, like, whaaa? So naturally, I purchased 13 when I really only needed 1. I left with shampoo, makeup, and bread in one hand and my mountain of cheap drinks. Let's just say that I am one content camper tonight. TIPS & TRICKS: * Try not to go at 11:30 P.M. like I did, only one register is open and the graveyard shift is restocking and driving forklifts around. It was slight chaos, I almost got poked in the shin and that would NOT have been cool. * Self Check Outs, 10 aisles, and Customer Service also make up this store so take advantage of it all. I love Winco. The prices are great!! There are a lot of options among food items. Plenty of produce, meats, cheeses. Amazing! We go on a weekly basis to get out groceries. I drive past many other stores to come here. We usually end up going later on Friday nights. The only downside to that is there aren't very many checkers at that time and the self checkout is often closed. Also, they are stocking the shelves around that time and so sometimes it's a little busy in the isles. They are just doing their job. I like how the store is laid out and most things are fairly easy to find. I've spoken with a few employees and they have been cordial. Most of them know the store very well and have guided me to items I have been in need of. The sale items (even more discounted than usual) are usually very well displayed. I should also mention they don't take credit cards, only debit. Sad that they don't have a redbox. But that minor detail won't stop me from shopping here often. I have several grocery stores closer to my house, but this WinCo is my family's go-to grocery store. The prices are great and the fresh produce is miles better than the produce at Walmart. I like how many generic brand items WinCo carries as well, which are great substitutes for the higher-priced name brand items. It's nice that WinCo is open 24 hours a day - I've definitely made some after-midnight shopping trips that I wouldn't have been able to do at most other grocery stores. One of my favorite things about WinCo is the bulk food section. The bulk foods are even cheaper than the packaged stuff, and are perfect if you only need a little bit of something, like spices or unusual baking ingredients. The biggest COVID-related change at WinCo (other than mandatory facemasks) is that most of the bulk bin items are not available, or have been pre-packaged into bags, but that's not WinCo's fault. The biggest downside of shopping at WinCo is that they do not accept credit cards. I know, it's part of their business model, but it is an inconvenience. read more

When deciding on your regular grocery store, there are choices to make. Do I want the cheapest prices? Do I want the best variety? Do I want a one-stop shop for my grocery and household needs? When you walk in, you'll get a CostCo/Sam's Club vibe with the airplane hangar-like expanse around and above. But don't worry, you won't have to buy 24 cans of soup, 48 mini-packs of Cheetos, or a 96 pound vat of lard in order to get a low price. The thing that knocked my socks off the first time I visited a WinCo was the Bulk Food section. It's almost impossible to resist the bulk candies. I'm a big jelly bean lover, and they have both no-name brands and a whole bunch of Jelly Belly flavors... more than I've seen at any place not called WinCo. They also have a whole bunch of grains, trail mixes, pastas, spices, coffees, and cereals (also check their Malt-O-Meal cereals, which have the lowest prices I've seen). They also have an abundance of meats and cheeses, dairy, yogurts, and desserts, canned foods, Mexican food, pastas and sauces, and, well, frankly, everything a grocery shopper would need. The only non-bargain price I found is soda ... I paid about 40¢ more per DDP two liter than at Smith's. So how does WinCo get so many low prices? It may be the employee ownership or the lack of baggers (you bag your own at WinCo). Either way, the deals are great. It's a great grocery chain. So when your neighbors go nuts after finding out a WinCo is being built nearby, believe the hype. read more

Winco is fine, but you know what gets me? Apparently they don't take credit cards! What the heck!? I shop here very rarely, but happened to stop by yesterday. They are kind of like a warehouse store, and their prices do seem to be a tiny bit lower than other grocery stores. They have a huge bulk foods section, which I'm always a fan of, and it includes SO MUCH CANDY. They also seem to specialize in a lot of food storage sort of items. Their produce section looked rather sad, though, and they seem to carry less variety as far as brands go. I didn't notice one employee out on the floor, so good luck if you need any assistance. Also the credit card thing....I'm guessing their whole shtick is that they don't take credit cards because that enables them to avoid the processing fee, which enables them to have lower prices. I get that, I guess. But I really hate being limited on how I can pay. I didn't bother and just left the cart. They have a long row of checkout lanes and only 3 were open. Low pay? Toxic work place? Poor management? Probably all three. Other parts of the country (east & mid-south) just don't have the same value=freshness=pleasant environment that we have here in the northwest.
